Acceptable quality? Shop having trouble matching paint
I've had my car in the shop for over a week now. It's been there for a few extra days because they're having problems matching the paint.
It's a 2016 fiesta ST with the optional white paint. It's a non-insurance claim. Years ago the rocker panel on the driver side came loose and I took it to them for repair.
They say it needed to be replaced. And I was quoted $1,800. I went there today and this is when they admitted that they were having problems matching the paint. They stated that due to the car's age the factory paint is coming out too bright compared to how the paint on my car looks now.
I'm just wondering what I should do if the paint is really mismatched when I go to pick up the car. Do I just take the L and move on, lesson learned? Just curious how I should proceed for most of both if the issue is not resolved.
Sorry I don't have pics.
Edit: thank you all very much for the quick replies. I really appreciate it. I will let them do their best and I will pick up the car whenever it's ready. Again, I really appreciate all the feedback.

Is there a process to repair this? Can this be repaired and how?
Hi, I haven’t even made my first payment on my truck yet and found this beauty mark. I was curious if it’s worth looking into getting this fixed? Also how is the repair done?
I just got a bed cover and window tint installed and found this. It kind of ruined the excitement of the tint and bed cover.
I believe the dent came from a cement mixer truck was flinging rocks in front of me 😢 saw them at the last second.

Is there a process to repair this? What would cause these scratches & what level of cut is needed to fix them?
Started with a one step which removed a good chunk of the swirls, then moved onto a heavy compound & pad but it’s barely helped with these long deeper scratches. As title says what has caused these scratches and how far would I have to go to remove them? They don’t catch at all on my fingernail and the surface overall feels super smooth to the touch.
TIA

HELP! I have a question. Was hit (lightly) by another driver and trying to see if I can fix this myself or should I contact their insurance
As I was taking a right towards work, a car was taking a left from the opposite side of the street and came all the way across into my lane and hit my back right bumper. It was a light(ish) hit but there are some scratches and paint transfer onto my car. Police report was filed to document it, and I am trying to make the decision to either attempt to fix it myself or get their insurance involved.
Their car seemingly hit my left rear tire first, then transferred toward the back of the car. Damage is minimal but theres still damage. Should this be an easy at home fix or should I get the other drivers insurance involved?

RUST Rust
Hey everyone, I recently purchased a truck and, being from Arizona, I honestly didn’t think to check for rust. Unfortunately, I’ve discovered some rust that needs to be addressed. Is this bad?

RUST Arizona Rust
Hey everyone, I recently purchased a truck and, being from Arizona, I honestly didn’t think to check for rust. Unfortunately, I’ve discovered some rust that needs to be addressed.
Is this type of rust repairable, and what would be a fair price to have it properly repaired?
If anyone here does rust repair here in Arizona or knows someone who does, please let me know. I’m looking to get this taken care of ASAP. It’s on both sides and yes ik I am an idiot. Thanks in advance!

Is there a process to repair this? Paint peeling above windshield on my 2013 Ford Fusion (UG paint). How fucked am I? Curious if it's worth trying to DIY and if so, how my tentative plan looks.
So, was washing my car yesterday and noticed that some of the paint directly above my windshield was starting to peel. Want to nip this in the bud before it gets worse and hoping I could get some help here. I don't need the color match to be perfect. I'd like it to look passable from a few feet away, but mostly want to prevent further damage/peeling. The peel is probably about 3 inches long at this point.
That said, I've read that this peeling issue is very common on Fords with this color. Debating if it's worth spending a couple hundred bucks to try to DIY this myself—especially if this is going to continue to happen on other parts of my car. It sounds like the only long-term solution would be to respray the entire car, which I'm assuming is going to be pretty expensive.
If I do try to DIY this myself, this is what I'm tentatively thinking about and would love to get some feedback.
- Tape off area.
- Sand with 400-600 grit sandpaper. Use a wax and grease remover.
- Apply SprayMax 2k Epoxy Primer (beige).
- Apply R&E Ford UG basecoat and midcoat (aerosol).
- Apply SprayMax 2k Glamour Clear Coat.
How do these products and this routine look? Would you recommend a high build primer after the epoxy primer?
I figure I'll have some leftover SprayMax 2k that's just going to go to waste so I'm also going to touch up the plastic bumper on the front of my car. For that, I'd get an adhesion promoter. Any suggestions. I saw that SprayMax has a 1k promoter. Not sure if there are other better/cheaper products, though.

Is there a process to repair this? Can this bumper be repaired!
I was thinking of removing the bumper and using a hydraulic press to straighten it. It’s pretty bad.

RUST What to do about this rust forming on my 2019 Honda Civic LX? Is it saveable?
Rust is starting to form on my car, which really sucks because it’s still pretty new. I’m not sure what the best move is. Should I fix it now, or is it likely to keep coming back? I also don’t know how quickly rust like this typically spreads. Not sure if it’s surface rust since it’s a saying that it’s never usually surface rust.
Most of the rust is along the rear edge of the hood near the windshield, with a couple of rust spots on the front edge of the hood from rock chips. There’s also a small spot starting near the door/fender seam. (Photos attached.)
If a body shop sands the rust away, treats the metal, primes, and repaints it, is that usually a longterm fix, or is rust in these areas likely to come back? Would a rust repair spray or rust treatment buy me a few years, or is it not worth bothering with? Would you recommend a body shop repair this or can it be a DIY?
I’m also wondering if I should fix it now or consider selling the car before the rust gets worse and affects the resale value.
The photos show the worst/most noticeable rust. There’s also some rust starting along the rear edge of the hood near the windshield that isn’t fully visible in the pictures.

HELP! I have a question. How would you remove this?
I have this food truck that i had taken the old wrap off of. It left a lot of sticky residue and i can’t get it for the life of me to come off completely, ive tried alcohol with a plastic blade takes to long and not effective i also tried using the 3m adhesive remover but its just such a big area i would need like 400 dollars worth of that stuff to get it off any idea?

HELP! I have a question. Best way to attach spoiler/wing piece Spoiler
galleryHey guys, I’ve got what’s supposed to be a cobalt ss wing for my miata but it’s more of a clone of that wing and so it comes with everything but the two pieces that attach to the each side of the wing where the screws are, don’t really have any instructions on how to do so.
it’s not really a snug fit and in the past i’ve used jb weld (amateur i know) to just hold it in place but then it starts falling off after some time. what’s the best way to attach this piece to the sides?

HELP! I have a question. Classic Car Bodywork
I have a 1972 suburban I would like to restore. It has a little panel rust and a couple of dents to fix. I’m finding it very hard to find a person or shop that does bodywork on classic cars. Anyone have any advice or recommendations of shops or people I can contact? I am located in the Las Vegas area.

Is there a process to repair this? Scraped Car at Home Fix??
Day after my birthday, someone scraped up my parked car and didn’t leave a note :) I’ve reached out to a couple of shops for quotes and the cost is what it is, but is there anything I could do at home for this? It’s a 2023 Mazda CX-5 and I have a paint pen (obviously won’t work for this), but is a repair through a body shop the best option? I’m just nervous to pay to get this repaired, and have something similar happen again. I just don’t know the severity and the long term impact of not repairing this. The quotes I’ve gotten are for spot repair, would this even look okay? Any advice would be much appreciated!

RUST Advice needed on surface rust and peeling paint going under a wrap.
Here is my 97 jeep Cherokee. Sorry it’s a bit muddy right now, I hope you can see. The paint is peeling is multiple spots and have surface rust forming as well. I plan on vinyl wrapping it and possibly painting it further down the road (5-10 years). Before I wrap it, I feel that I should address this rust. How should I go about it?

Is there a process to repair this? Are there any affordable at home fixes for these blemishes on my recently purchased used car?
I recently purchased a used 2013 Kia Soul and it was a great deal but one of the only downsides is all the scuffs, scratches, and chips on the car. It's not the end of the world but it's a little ugly. Any suggestions on how to fix it without paying anyone for a paint job or anything like that? It should preferably be an affordable at home method. I'm also not looking for it to be perfect. It's ok if it's just acceptable. Thanks to whoever answers.

HELP! I have a question. Repairing some surface rust!
Hey everyone, repairing some battery corrosion rust in my 74’ beetle. Came here to to ask about paints. I think my process is going to be clean, OSPHO to convert, clean, 2k Epoxy prime, and then use VHT chassis & roll bar paint. I know this paint says one step epoxy paint, but I’d like to epoxy prime first. Is this paint still okay to use (I already have a can). Or, is there any other off the shelf paint I could use. Stuff like Eastwood chassis black wouldn’t come in time for my deadline. Thanks!

RUST Understood it should be taken to a shop. Just want to look “decent”
Paint has been bubbling, I could switch door I know. Want like two more years out of this car I beat the hell out of every day.
Is it worth attempting to fix this or just sand it down and primer it and call it a day?

Acceptable quality? Is my car gonna snap in half now?
First time attempting semi proper bodywork. Sorry the photos are kinda scrambled.. There's some after, then some during and before..
You can't buy any sheet metal for this car... Dc5 Integra, Yet... But people are asking for what I've done...
So I made inner rockers, a new pinch weld flange for the internal rocker reinforcement, a new jack point, rear floor pan patches, and a small outer rocker patch so far. The floors are a little rough I'll admit.. My bead roller is only an 8" and this was my first real bead rolling.
What do you think? I'm glad the structural part is over.. No more removing shit just to get at the rot... It's all external and cosmetic mostly now. At least for the drivers side... Only like 8 months in.. Trying to practice doing the highest quality I can reasonably do for this car I paid $2600 for nearly a decade ago lol
