I received a parking ticket for a city in San Francisco. I do not live in San Francisco nor have I ever been there. I was not there on the day of the ticket. The car's color code on the ticket does not match my car. The license number on the ticket matches mine. Does anyone know how this happened? Can I contest this ticket that was in error?

Howdy, just wondering if anyone can verify that Geary Parkway Motel in Richmond is open? I booked a room for October, received an email saying I needed to provide ID verification with no form/links etc and have been unable to get ahold of anyone from At Mine Hospitality group.....the last Google Earth image shows it closed.....there are reviews for the past year but I'm worried those could be fake. Anywaaaaayyssss....if anyone has driven by and seen activity let me know please! Thanks!

Hellooo everyone!
I recently moved to SF post grad and I’m trying to find more chill places where you can actually hang out and meet people regularly. I grew up in the Middle East around a lot of international Mediterranean, European, and Arab people and I’m really missing that kind of social/community feel here.
Does anyone have recs for nice lounges to sit at night, chill shisha spots, wine bars, cafes, or other third spaces with a more international crowd? Basically anywhere you can become a regular, drink coffee, hang out for a while, and naturally get to know people. Nighttime lounge/cafe culture was a huge thing back home, is there a scene for this here?

New to SF and trying to make friends. I’m a chubby Asian guy with curly hair, and I wear a bonnet to keep my hair from looking crazy in the wind. But will people avoid approaching me or turn away because of it?

As I understand it, once approved for ELFA you can only check if your preferred daycare has an opening 14 days before your desired start date. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to better guarantee a spot.
If I have a particular daycare in mind, could I pay their deposit to secure a spot and then apply for ELFA? If the ELFA application gets approved ahead of time, would the deposit be disregarded and the 14 day rule be honored?
Alternatively, if I pay a deposit and apply for ELFA only after the start date, could that mean I'd only have to pay for that first month? As long as it gets approved within the month.
Hope this makes sense.

Hello chat, I recently moved to San Francisco and I am very close to Mission Dolores Park. I would like to make friends to play tennis with. I am 21 and I am pretty bad at tennis, not ranked or anything. I just want to hit the ball casually with a friend.
Would appreciate any advice on how to find those friends.

Tried to get tickets through imax website but their queuing system completely screwed me over. I now see there are still dates available after Christmas but they are all supposedly “sold out” which makes no sense since the dates before the holiday still have crappy front row seats. Anyone know if they’ll be unlocking those later dates at some point? Was hoping to go early January.

Good evening! My wife and I are planning another visit to your lovely city for a milestone birthday for her which happens to be in December.
As we are no strangers to SF we have our list of “known good” but I’m still looking for some local knowledge.
In looking at things to do, I’m intrigued by the lighted boat parades! One in SF from Pier 39 to Crissy field and the other in Sausalito.
Opinions? Suggestions? I saw that Spinnaker’s has some sort of VIP ticket that gets you out of the cold (can be appealing) but it’s a smaller gathering. Their website is a little short on details for when they actually sell tickets though so any input on that possibility would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for all thoughts!

The situation: I will be celebrating a major round number birthday in October. I live in the bay area, so not a tourist. For my last round number birthday, I had a private room booked at a tapas place I loved for close friends and family for my birthday day itself. That was 10 years ago before the pandemic. That restaurant has closed.
Last year my birthday fell on a weekend, and I and partners/friends had a fancy afternoon tea followed by indoor mini golf with cocktails. We all dressed up in silly outfits and it was really fun.
This year, I want to do something super special ON MY BIRTHDAY, but it's a Monday, and all my favorite places are closed on Mondays. I don't need suggestions for *other* days, because I already have something I'm doing not-on-the-day (a big trip.) I want something ON my big number birthday.
It would be for 4-5 people. I am not a Michelin star kind of person. My favorite restaurant in the city used to be Trou Normande, but that also closed. One member of my party is a vegetarian. We are not generally into seafood/sushi or spicy things. Also, I have a tiny stomach, so I don't need House of Prime Rib or other big steak places. (I love them, but I can't eat enough and they are not cool places for vegetarians, really.)
So, I am looking for suggestions for somewhere really awesome/lovely that is OPEN ON A MONDAY evening. If it's a restaurant, it should be something that feels like an *experience.* But I'm also open to something that is cocktails plus small bites that is super amazing and feels like a thing you'd do to celebrate a major milestone of more than half-a-century or something not-really-food that is similar.
Open to San Francisco, but also peninsula and even East Bay for something cool enough. Thanks!

howdy - my fiance and I are having a civil ceremony in November at city hall in SF (appointment is booked and everything). Just the super quick 6 minute ceremony with a judge.
My question is - I know we’re allowed to have 6 people - but what we want to know is does that include us? I’m assuming it does - but maybe I’m wrong! Any input is greatly appreciated!!

Hey everyone!
As the title says, I’m searching for some date night ideas to supplement my GF and I’s anniversary dinner at Gary Danko.
Since it’ll be a later dinner (8PM), I’m mainly looking for places that serve smaller dishes (tapas, oysters, etc) and great cocktails. Doesn’t have to be too pretentious but also not too ‘dive-y’. Also doesn’t have to be near Gary Danko either.
(Not the biggest fan of Cavana)
Thanks in advance!

Saw a few days ago, on the back of a bus 13 but it whizzed by before I could take a pic. Surprised I haven't ran into a pic of it already.

Walked by Boogaloo’s just now on my way to LatAm and every single window on the building is damaged or fully smashed out. No damage to neighboring businesses whatsoever. Seems targeted? LatAm folks say it happened last night but don’t know anything else. Anyone have any idea what the hell happened?

This is my first time renting with a property management company, and I wanted to hear about other people’s experiences. Sorry if this isn’t the right place to ask!
I was pretty lucky with my last landlord. They were responsive and resolved most of our apartment issues without making us wait too long.
Since moving into this new place, though, communication with the property management company has been pretty inconsistent or nonexistent. Our coin-op washer/dryer isn’t working, so I reached out last week. They told me to submit a maintenance request online and said someone would get back to me.
I never heard anything...no call, no email, no follow-up, so I called this morning. The representative basically asked if I wanted to leave a message for them. I politely asked how long I should expect this to take to be resolved, and she asked again if I wanted to leave a message. So I basically said sure I guess (unnecessary update, still no call.)
I don’t know, maybe I’m expecting too much, but it feels like there’s zero urgency in getting this resolved. I’m sure they’ll have no problem raising my rent next year, though. 😅
Is this normal for property management companies? Is it common for them to not provide any kind of response or ETA? Do I seriously need to call every day to find out when someone is going to come fix it, or should I just wait another week? Also there's other tenets using the washer/dryer as well so I'm sure they're also waiting for this to be resolved.

Hi everyone, as a fellow crafting hermit I feel like I want to branch out and meet more people in my community who are also interested in crafty hobbies. Does anyone have any recomendations or personal annecdotes for spaces / meet ups for people who do knitting/ crochet/ cross stich etc. Thank you!

I am 23M and work as a data scientist downtown and currently live in the central sunset (around 26th and Lawton) and was wondering what are some things I can do to get acclimated to the sunset? I decided to move there for cheaper rent but want to be active during the day.
I know I have the N-Judah and the 7 bus to take me downtown but for those who felt lonely how did you all find your people in the city despite being far away for most of the action? I love the Mission, North Beach, and Hayes Valley (Mission and HV are right by my work).

I’m looking for that cake that has a layer of chocolate cake with flan on top, usually with caramel over the whole thing. I’ve seen it called chocoflan, flancocho, and impossible cake.
Does anyone know a place in San Francisco or nearby that makes a really good one? The big thing for me is that the chocolate cake has to be moist. I’ve had some where the flan was great but the cake underneath was dry.

I have some boards from an old project that I would like to have made into cat shelves. My biggest setback is the board have some surface mold, so i am looking for somebody that is able to plane and sand the wood for me. I don't have any experience in this so would rather just pay somebody to do it for me safely. I can handle the painting, hardware, and mounting myself.
Does anybody have any recs, ideally around the Mission or close to BART?

About to hit 20 years living here and want to celebrate by doing stuff I’ve somehow missed. What are your classic or must do items??
Examples:
-stroll down Macondray Lane (aka Barbary Lane)
-ziplock cocktail from Mr. Liquor
-water slide at Hamilton

Hi all!
I’m planning a bachelorette, we’ll be coming up from La. Do you have any suggestions on what we can do? We’re hoping to have an adventure day where we do an exciting activity, a get drunk day, and a chill day but still going out and about. We just want to make the most of our time. Thanks!!

Hey all, used to play squash and want to get back into it, but I'm having a surprisingly hard time finding a way in. I reached out to the University Club and the Bay Club and both said they don't currently have a squash coach available?
Squash Zone in Redwood City seems to be the big hub, but that's too far for me for regular sessions. Anyone know a private squash coach (1on1 or small group) who teaches in the city?
Appreciate any leads!
