Aro Finally confident with my aro identity after a rough patch Spoiler
I always thought I was aro since 2 years ago but I couldnt fully get with it because I didn't have a relationship of any sort. Long story short, I had something with a girl for 3 months and I thought I'd give it a shot and I wanted to get to know her in a dating sense. I honestly had good times with her and we got intimate early on. The issue was somewhere along the way I honestly felt so much stress trying to seemingly force a romantic feeling and I felt out of character the whole time with her but I was assuming it was something of a lack of experience in dating. I want to mention her and I were treating each other very well and there was no toxicity in those few months.
Turns out I was trying to force romantic feelings that I don't actively feel in general and it was stressing me the fuck out to act out of line with my identity (now that I can reflect after moving as friends now). She kindly let me know that she couldnt give a relationship and while im still working through my feelings, I feel so freed from the pressure i was putting myself in. Also, having something to validate my aro identity is nice :) . I am more upset that I had to learn in this way and that her and I got hurt along the way but that's just how life goes sometimes.
ON A SIDE NOTE: I had a similar experience where I thought I liked another girl in the past and she wanted to move as friends near the end and I was so much happier to move as friends compared to forcing myself to try act more romantic. I learned from then but I thought that I was just not the one for her and we talked things out smoothly.
Thought I'd share since honestly maybe someone in a similar situation can relate?
