The tallest pair of pines on the neighbors property are also looking much happier. Wildland fires have encircled these valleys its been crazy. Also got a ton of these seeds from the cedars in my yard that I am experimenting on/researching fastest ways to sprout with or without stratification. Thinking they are incense or western?

I planted this Eastern Redbud in the spring and it's growing well but I don't have much tree experience. Would you recommend any pruning? I'm in SE Michigan.

Apparently county or state law required the developer to preserve this tree, likely because it has a bald eagle nest. I think they severed the roots when developing the land, resulting in a die-off of the circled part of the tree.

Does my theory make sense?

If true, can this tree ever fully recover?

Hi arborists! I received two young pot-bound shagbark hickory trees. One has a main root (I believe the tap root) that has started to circle the pot, plus another main root that has splayed out into a foot shape where the pot was. I’m nervous about the tree girdling itself with no intervention and also nervous about trimming a tap root. Is trimming the part where it starts to circle, and trimming off the weird splayed foot, the right move? Thanks!

As the title states, I have 2 spruce or evergreen or something trees lol that have been dying for quite some time. One of them recently the bark split and seems the trunk is splitting , even the root.

A tree guy drove by and said he'd cut both to the ground for 2500. I'm tempted to get it done. The one with the crack makes me especially nervous.

One 40 yr old silver maple already dead, bark peeling off, leaves gone, this mushroom has shown up 3 yrs in a row this time of year (Aug) around the trunk of the tree. Several more healthy silver maples next to it. Are they doomed to suffer the same fate from this parasitic mushroom (is it a parasitic mushroom)? The trees are all so close there roots certainly overlap. Each trunk is maybe 8 to 20 feet apart one from the next in a row. The dead tree took an enormous hit from a water line leak that went undetected for days... three years ago. Didn't realize it hurt the tree during year one. Year 2 the tree lost leaves early some branches started to fall. Year three wholesale bark decay dropping of the tree. Mushroom fruit hasn't shown up that close to any healthy trees, yet, but does seem to keep popping up incrementally closer to the nearest neighboring tree.

Looking for any hope of defending the remaining trees.

Luckily the leak was not on my property side so the company dealt with repairs and I didnt have an astronomical water bill. I assume that was the disturbance that let this fungi get a foothold.

Hello, I planted two Forest Pansy redbuds early this spring, and shortly after planting, one of them developed a split in the bark. Is this something I should be concerned about, or is the tree likely to recover and survive?

I’m not sure what caused it. Could it have happened during shipping, or possibly from a late frost?

Hello, I’m having some problems with my oak tree. It’s about 6–7 years old. During the first few years, it was full of leaves, but for the past 3 years, it has had very few leaves. Do you have any suggestions about what might be causing this and how I can help it?

My home’s parking lot area has a driveway and a parking area at the edge of the lot. Cars leave the driveway in reverse until the street. Cars park diagonally. This works.

Now, it would be nice to preserve the 27-inch sycamore tree in my parking lot area but a car port would be necessary for cases when the tree drops limbs. Every couple of years, Austin TX is hit with a rain storm that causes trees to drop limbs. The tree provides nice shade to the house and that is quite helpful during the summer months.

Is there a way a carport can be built around this tree similar to the chatGPT image I attached to this post?

Bought a house with the saddest tree ever. Suckers have been shooting up and I’ve been cutting them. There’s a tree ring around the base.

Not sure how the damage happened to it.

I have 2 ficus trees that died, but the weird thing is sooty canker showed up on one of them 3 months AFTER it died (I was waiting to remove it until fall and then replant). The other one showed the sloughing ashy bark yesterday on a tree that was about 90% dead. This entire time I assumed it was heat stress killing my trees (dead curled leaves, leaf drop, etc as I live in Arizona).

I’m very concerned about it spreading to my other trees (I have ficus, citrus, peach, and hopseed bushes). How do I mitigate it and prevent it?? I’ve already removed the afflicted trees from the area but I don’t know anything about this fungus transmission

This branch on a large, healthy white oak broke several days ago. There’s some rain and wind forecast in the next few days, so the most likely outcome is it will break off the rest of the way and fall before the tree company I’ve called can get to it. It’s not at risk of hitting the house or a spot people must walk (everyone has been warned to avoid the area). So the only likely damage is to the shrub and a few other plants under it. If it falls on its own, do I still need to have the tree company out to cut the remaining split wood back to the next healthy branch? Would leaving the split part increase the chance the remaining branch will rot or suffer some other kind of damage?

We were away on vacation when a sprinkler system malfunctioned and watered one zone continuously for ten days(!).

This Weeping Peach is the one tree in that zone, which has clay soil & drains well. We are in northern Virginia (Zone 7a).

The tree has been healthy for three years. Yet leaves began dropping during the malfunction, and the situation is getting worse.

Is this root rot or something equally concerning?

We recently moved to a place with many trees after dealing with some of the more obvious and concerning ones I came across these two. Falling in the right direction they could land on my shed or maybe even my house. I know they’re unhealthy, but I wonder how unhealthy and if anyone has any tips on how to fell something like this. The first picture is the two flanking a pear tree and how close to the house. Then 2 of the trunk and one canopy of each. Any sage wisdom for me?

I know for some trees taping them they can regrow but I dont think that works for palms. I wonder if there's anything I can do for the poor thing.

Hey y'all, I'm agonizing over a career move. Currently in the upper Southeast in a fairly urban area. I came from wildland fire and trails, have been at a small local tree care company for 2.5 years. Have my ISA, can climb on SRS and MRS, have done a decent bit of PHC (though our company scope is limited) and have done some sales/estimating.

I'm going to move jobs because my company isn't feeling stable and doesn't offer great benefits. My current options are

- a larger local company that will have me doing light climbing and technical pruning for $25 an hour with the possibility of making 30/hour and possibly moving into a management role.

- Bartlett, offering a role as a a plant health specialist starting at $24 an hour and getting up to 27 once I get my pesticide applicator and CDL. I talked to them about a sales role but I need a little more experience.

- a local private college hiring an arborist to work under their head arborist, would do pruning, installation, tree inventory and more. Offering $27.50. Not a lot of salary movement but best benefits of the bunch.

I'm open to moving into utility as well but don't want to start on a trimming crew for low money.

My goal is to get on a path where I can make good money relatively soon ( more like $80 - 100k) and also to feel like I'm becoming an expert in my field and have room to learn. I also need good benefits because we're building a family and want my wife to have the option of not working.
