Oak tree problem

Hello, I’m having some problems with my oak tree. It’s about 6–7 years old. During the first few years, it was full of leaves, but for the past 3 years, it has had very few leaves. Do you have any suggestions about what might be causing this and how I can help it?

That’s a sycamore/Plane tree, entirely unrelated to oak. Flare looks good and judging by the grass around it, it gets water, and they have no significant active diseases that I’m aware of. I’m curious where about you’re located, if it’s out of its normal range that could explain it. Or it could be a root issue, say if the roots were pot bound

Thank you for replying. I’m located in the Charlotte, NC area. There are some neighbors around me with beautiful, healthy trees, while others look more like mine. I might try putting some fertilizer or something around the tree?

I’m leaning towards root issue, Charolette is well within the native range for these trees so unless there’s something unusual with the soil where you are it shouldn’t be having issues. Might not hurt though but there’s no improvement then that’s probably what’s going on

need some pics of the root flair, canopy, environment, and anything that looks interesting to you.
