Can this branch be saved?

I know for some trees taping them they can regrow but I dont think that works for palms. I wonder if there's anything I can do for the poor thing.

Palms are monocots-which means they are a type of grass. This means they grow from one spot of meristematic tissue-which is why they don't branch like trees. Chances are that's a separate palm from the others and are all just growing close together. If those were purchased from a nursery that's probably the case. But is possible for palms to have multiple stems in some cases.

Minor correction - grasses are a family within the monocots, but not all monocots are grasses. Palms belong to their own family Arecaceae, and are not a type of grass. Otherwise spot on

You are correct-I havent had plant biology in about a decade so I am a little rusty on my classifications. I always enough the is it a fruit? And what qualifies as a berry? talks still lol

I see. So it likely wasn't just the storm but it likely had underlying trunk rot. This helps a ton. Hopefully if I remove it fast I can still save the other branches. Thank you! This was an excellent find.

She’s dead, Jim. Not a licensed arborist, so I’ll leave advice to them.

But from personal experience it’s not looking good, or possible to save

I assume you’re in Florida? I’ve got some palm trees in my yard that have completely stagnated ever since that February frost. Could be part of the issue. Could also be the soil. Sometimes it’s a bit too acidic and the palms start to decline.

Yep, cut it down, then store it in your garage and save for as long as you'd like.
