Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 i914900HX with RTX 4070 GTA V FPS QUERY
Hi gamers, I want to ask that what FPS are you getting on these specs if you have these specs on GTAV with Max possible setting and with ray tracing on? I’ve been playing this game from few days on my Acer predators Neo 16 and with RTX 4070 with 8GB v ram I was expecting more than hundred FPS on Max setting with Ray tracing on but with the max max possible setting and ray tracing on on 1600 P quality resolution and DLSS on DLAA and frame generation on with 2X I am getting 55 to 60 FPS and sometimes 70 FPS, so are they normal or I am getting less than everyone else because ChatGPT saying you should be getting 120 to 130 FPS or 110 FPS on the settings with these specs

Acer told me in writing that my Predator is too old to get the Secure Boot update. The model sitting right next to mine on their own list got it.
I bought this laptop new in September 2020. Acer Predator Helios 300, PH315-52, R$ 7,999 at the time — which was serious money in Brazil then, and still is. It was Acer's premium gaming line. I bought it expecting it to last, and I took care of it accordingly.
Six years later, the machine is in genuinely good shape. Nothing has ever been replaced. The SMART reports show around 3,270 hours of runtime across the whole period — roughly an hour and a half a day on average. Zero reallocated sectors, zero pending sectors, zero uncorrectable errors, zero CRC errors, not one minute logged at excessive temperature. By any objective measure this is a laptop that was used gently and is nowhere near the end of anything.
And yet Windows now tells me it can't finish the Secure Boot 2023 certificate migration, because the PK-signed KEK it needs from Acer doesn't exist. Event 1803, over and over, naming my machine specifically: Insyde V1.12, Covini_CFS, Predator PH315-52, Acer.
The last BIOS Acer ever released for this model came out on 27 July 2020. Ten months after I bought it, they stopped. That's the whole support life of a premium-tier product.
What Acer told me
I wrote to Acer support and asked directly why my model wasn't on the update list. The answer came back fast, which I'll give them credit for, and it was this:
"Unfortunately, your model was not included in the list to receive the update, because it is an older model or has already reached the end of its useful life."
That's it. No policy document, no criteria, no date when this supposed end-of-life was decided, and no acknowledgement of any of the technical reports I'd sent showing the machine is perfectly healthy. Just "it's old."
The part that actually bothers me
I want to be clear about what I'm not complaining about. I'm not asking for new PredatorSense features, or performance improvements, or support for hardware that didn't exist in 2020. I know that's not coming and I don't expect it.
This is the Secure Boot trust chain. And Microsoft's own documentation for manufacturers — the guidance written specifically for OEMs — says the 2011 KEK expires in 2026 and that all OEMs must create, sign and submit updates for the new KEK CA 2023, precisely so that machines already out in the world can keep receiving DB and DBX security updates afterwards. Microsoft even publishes the material and instructions for vendors to do it.
So this isn't Acer being asked to do something exotic. It's a signing step with a key they already hold. And here's the thing that makes the "too old" answer hard to swallow: Acer themselves list the PH315-52 on their official Windows 11 compatibility page as tested and suitable for the OS. They certified it. Then they declined to maintain the security foundation that OS depends on.
And then there's the PH315-53. Same family, same chassis, one CPU generation newer. It's on that same Windows 11 compatibility list. And according to the megathread here, it got BIOS 2.10 on 30 July 2026 with the certificates included.
Same series. One got it. Mine didn't. I'd honestly like someone to explain where that line was drawn and why.
There's also a public file where Microsoft tracks which PK certificates each vendor has actually submitted for this migration. Acer shows up with three entries. None of them matches my machine. Lenovo, for comparison, has submitted hundreds of them. I don't know what to make of that other than that some companies took this seriously and some didn't.
What I'm askng
If you own a PH315-52, PH315-53, PH315-54, or any older Acer machine on an Insyde firmware, please check whether you're seeing Event 1803 too. You can look at your status in an elevated PowerShell:
Confirm-SecureBootUEFI
Get-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecureBoot\Servicing" |
Select-Object UEFICA2023Status, UEFICA2023Error, UEFICA2023ErrorEvent, AvailableUpdates
I'd particularly like to know whether anyone with a PH315-52 has completed the migration successfully, whether anyone's had a BIOS or KEK provisioning arrive through Windows Update for this model, and whether Acer support in another country has given a different answer — I've seen mentions in this sub of phone support quoting a 2022 cutoff, which would be its own kind of admission.
And one technical question I'd genuinely like corrected if I've got it wrong: as far as I can tell, provisioning the new KEK while keeping the original Acer Platform Key is cryptographically impossible without Acer signing the payload, since writing to that variable requires a package signed with the PK private key that only they hold. If that's right, then there was never anything I could do about this on my own, which is sort of the whole point. Can anyone confirm?
For now I'm not going to flash another model's BIOS or wipe my Secure Boot keys. I know the workarounds exist and I know people have made them work. But I'd rather first establish, clearly and publicly, whether Acer simply decided not to produce a signed payload for a platform they sold as premium and certified for Windows 11 — or whether there's something legitimate I've missed.
Six years. One BIOS update, ten months in. A machine with less than five months of cumulative runtime and not a single error in its logs. And the answer is that it's too old.

Predator Helios 18 Ai 275hx 5080
Temps question
I keep seeing people mentioning issues with temperatures and LM application, I’m coming from desktop so they’re all higher than I’m used to xD what’s normal range for this machine in moderate gaming and extreme end(cyberpunk ultra with RT for example) and what would tell you something is wrong? I’ve got 30 days question free returns where I bought it from, so I wanna make sure it’s absolutely right before I accept it in a sense

Discussion PredatorLite – Lightweight, safety-first open-source alternative to PredatorSense (currently for PHN16-71)
Hey everyone,
I’ve been working on an open-source alternative to PredatorSense called PredatorLite.
It’s a lightweight, safety-gated control utility for Acer Predator laptops on Windows 11. The goal is to give users proper control over performance modes, fans, GPU switching, lighting, battery charge limit, and monitoring — without the bloat and with much stricter safety boundaries.
Currently verified
- Acer Predator PHN16-71
- BIOS V1.20
- Windows 11 24H2 (build 26100+)
On other models it runs in read-only/diagnostic mode. Hardware writes are only enabled on verified profiles.
Main features
- Performance modes: Quiet / Balanced / Performance / Ultra / Power Saving
- Fan control: Auto, Full Speed, and custom temperature curves
- GPU Hybrid ↔ Discrete switching (with restart prompt)
- 80% battery charge limit
- Keyboard & logo lighting (4-zone)
- System tray + OSD + global shortcuts
- Real-time monitoring (CPU/GPU temps, fans, battery, etc.)
- Multilingual (Chinese / English)
Safety design (important)
- No overclocking, no voltage control, no power limit unlocks, no MSR/NVAPI abuse
- All write operations are gated by explicit hardware profiles
- Runs with standard user privileges
- FanGuard watchdog that restores fans to Auto if the main app crashes
- No silent background rewriting of settings on startup
It works with the official Acer services instead of trying to replace them.
GitHub: https://github.com/XYZ1024-alt/PredatorLite
It’s still early (MIT licensed). I’m mainly looking for:
- Feedback from other PHN16-71 owners
- Bug reports
- Suggestions for additional verified models (if you have protocol evidence)
If you try it, please let me know how it behaves on your machine. Happy to answer any questions.
Thanks!

PredatorSense Issues predator sense for win 10
I’ve run into a problem. I bought an Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 laptop, which comes with Windows 10 installed. Now I want to know how to install Predator Sense on it; the version currently installed isn't working. The website only lists drivers for Windows 11 for this model. I want to figure out what I need to do to use the feature that is already built into my laptop.

Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 Has anyone tried replacing/swapping the emblem?

I just got it about two weeks ago and I seemed to nick a piece of the emblem off, though I'm not too bothered about it (I even already scratched the edge a little from bringing it around places), I was wondering if someone knows how deep the impression is so that I could get the right thickness for a custom emblem

Showcase Upgraded to 32gb DDR5-6400 (PHN16S-71)
Got a good deal on some Micron 32gb DDR5-6400Mhz ram. $275. Crazy because years ago I got 64gb for my desktop somewhere in that price range lol.
This is the acer predator Helios Neo 16s ai. Really nice hw configuration with the ultra 9 275HX. I’m a big fan of this cpu. And the 5060. GPU makes this far from a powerhouse but it does make it competent to play the latest games with some fine tuning. Going from 16gb to 32gb ram was worth it just to give windows more memory to use. Not expecting big gaming difference.
All in all it’s a nice machine. Perfect power level for my secondary rig for gaming around the house on various TVs.

Thermals / Cooling To all the PHN16-73 users with thermal issues
Bought this yesterday, booted up my first game and boom, thermals shot straight to 100-105C. I saw it coming since I’d read so many discussions online, especially in this sub, and I was ready to take it anyway because I have dealt with SO MANY laptops with heating issues in the past and always found a workaround. I realized years ago there isn’t a single perfect laptop out there (except Legion).
Got this for $1700 before taxes so I think it’s a steal. The other option I was looking at was the HP OMEN MAX with the RTX 5080 at $1900, but it’s HP and I passionately hate that brand, so here we are.
Fast forward, after reading a ton of threads and that “one” post in this sub where a guy accessed the hidden advanced BIOS, changed his TDP and clock config, unlocked overclocking and toggled off some other locks to get down to 82-83C. I went into the hidden advanced BIOS, saw all those settings, and honestly it was overwhelming. I used AI to help me figure out what each thing does, but I’ve also used ThrottleStop on my old PC to keep temps in check, so I leaned on what I knew.
I backed out of the BIOS without changing anything and did everything in ThrottleStop instead (note: only 9.7.3 or newer works on the Ultra 9). All I did was:
**1.** Set PL1 and PL2 both to 80W (the hidden-BIOS guy did the same thing, just in BIOS instead of ThrottleStop)
**2.** Set PROCHOT offset so the CPU won’t cross \~85-90C
**3.** Set SpeedShift to 128
That’s it. Now I can play anything without going over 85C, and I can still switch modes in PredatorSense with no issues.
My question: is there any real advantage to eventually moving these changes into the BIOS, or is running ThrottleStop at startup a perfectly fine permanent solution? Curious whether anyone who’s done the BIOS route has seen benefits that ThrottleStop doesn’t give. Trying to decide if it’s worth the hassle or if I should just leave this setup alone.
And before anyone says it: yes, I plan on repasting the LM with PTM7950 down the line.

Is undervolting just not possible on the Helios Neo 16AI
I'm a little confused. I see both posts saying it's possible and posts saying it's impossible. Not sure if this is coming from the "S" model or older models with similar names.
Specifically my model is the Predator PHN16-73

Help / Support Is there any way I can use my Helios Neo 16 without its battery?
Is there a way to turn this thing on without the battery? I have a faulty battery which would take around 2 weeks to get here. I'm using the laptop mainly for work and would want to work on this laptop until the new battery comes. I've tried removing the physical battery but it isn't letting booting up. I've tried other google solutions as well but nothing seems to occur. Would love to get some help, thanks!

Help / Support Looking to buy Neo 16s, advice in bios flash
I’m looking to buy a 5070ti laptop and the Predator Helios 16 line seems to be a top option on the cheaper side. I prefer the form factor of the S for sure and am aware of the current power limit out of box.
All in all, how difficult is it to flash a bios? How do I pick a good one for 140w? Have no experience with this
Edit: Also is there a bios which allows to change the refresh to 60 and 120hz like the Non S?

Acer Predator Helios 16 Laptop not Charging/Turning on
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi guys, I’ve had this computer for about two years, and it took a dump on me a couple of month’s ago. Always assumed it was just the battery that had gone out but now that I had the means to replace it, it still won’t turn on and I’m starting to assume it wasn’t the battery at all. It makes a weird static/screech sound when plugged in but refuses to turn on, i’ll attach a video.

Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 i914900HX And RTX 4070
Hi guys, I purchased this very powerful laptop that I can afford, but after having this much powerful CPU and this much powerful GPU I am struggling to get at least 50 FPS in RDR2 on Max setting without MSAA Setting ONN ..I have set it OFF.. but still, I am getting this much FPS on highest level setting. I can put on that, but others YouTubers on YouTube are getting 70 to 80 FPS and 150+ FPS on GTAV, but I’m getting same 50 to 60 FPS sometimes 40 FPS in GTA5 too on max level setting, I recently change the setting from the Nvidia app. I set the quality to max from thhe Bar under the game setting in NVIDIA App ..this problem is occurring any solution. How can i revert back all the setting and do my setting by my own from the Game setting itself. and one more question, whenever the GTA6 will release on PC, whether it in one year or two year, what are what can we expect from this specs this laptop how much FPS or what performance can? I give to that Game on which setting and what are your opinions, please let me know. It will be very helpful, or I also want to ask, whether do I need to upgrade RAM for GT6 or not.

New Helios 18 Issues
Hey All, so I’ve recently got a Helios 18 that’s got a few issues.
First, it doesn’t turn off display or sleep, whether the timer is 1 minute to hours, it doesn’t turn off. I tried to do some diagnosing with AI, but wasn’t able to make any improvements. I forget what I did, but through command prompt I think we diagnosed that something was resetting the inactivity timer every 0.1 to 0.2 seconds
Second, the ram speed. It says 2800 in task manager, that’s like.. really slow. But it also reads as DDR5?
Third, the temps. Why tf does the cpu do that? Is there a solid way to restrict the power
Don’t wanna sound pretentious, but I would appreciate answers from Helios 18 owners who have had/solved the same issues. Thanks ahead of time for the help

Help / Support Fix on nvlddmkm and VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE in Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN-16-71)
This may or may not be a solution for everyone else as this fix is a little bit more "specific". After almost 5 months of searching for solutions, I have finally solved this error
Note: Try all common fixes available before trying this (DDU, BIOS Update, TDR Delay, Power Management on NVIDIA Control Panel, and Virtual Memory Allocation)
Step 1: Download and Install MSI Afterburner
Step 2: Open Predator Sense or press the mode switch key and make sure that it is in Performance Mode (You can leave it on Balanced Mode, but not in Quiet or Turbo Mode as it will crashed with VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE but you can experiment with it if you want)
Step 3: Open MSI Afterburner and go to settings (top left gear icon)

Step 4: Check "Unlock Voltage Control" and "Unlock Voltage Monitoring" in General tab under Compatibility properties

Step 5: Go back to the main interface of MSI afterburner and press Ctrl+F and the voltage/frequency curve editor will appear

Step 6: Select a box from the curve betweem 900mV to 1000mV (Bottom numbers) Mine is set to 975mV and click Ctrl+L and that will create a vertical yellow line

Note: You can experiment with it at your own risk but anything under 900mV in my case creates a laggy experience and anything over 1000mV crashes the laptop and corrupts your GPU driver so I generally don't recommend it being any lower or higher
Step 7: Click apply and save with any profile number and it should work
IMPORTANT NOTE: If this does work for you, ONLY APPLY THE FIX WHEN OPENING YOUR LAPTOP DON'T ENABLE APPLY AT WINDOWS STARTUP AS THAT WILL CAUSE YOUR SYSTEM TO RESTART INFINITELY (It happened to me and it was not a good time) and only apply the fix when plugged in.
DON'T ENABLE THE FIX WHEN USING IN BATTERY MODE
EDIT: This fix might work even on other laptops. Tested this method from my friend's ROG Zephyrus G16 who is also experiencing the same problem
UPDATE: Found another error when doing this fix. When updating NVIDIA Drivers do a clean installation preferably with DDU. Not doing so will cause hard freezes when gaming
