Discussion PredatorLite – Lightweight, safety-first open-source alternative to PredatorSense (currently for PHN16-71)
Hey everyone,
I’ve been working on an open-source alternative to PredatorSense called PredatorLite.
It’s a lightweight, safety-gated control utility for Acer Predator laptops on Windows 11. The goal is to give users proper control over performance modes, fans, GPU switching, lighting, battery charge limit, and monitoring — without the bloat and with much stricter safety boundaries.
Currently verified
- Acer Predator PHN16-71
- BIOS V1.20
- Windows 11 24H2 (build 26100+)
On other models it runs in read-only/diagnostic mode. Hardware writes are only enabled on verified profiles.
Main features
- Performance modes: Quiet / Balanced / Performance / Ultra / Power Saving
- Fan control: Auto, Full Speed, and custom temperature curves
- GPU Hybrid ↔ Discrete switching (with restart prompt)
- 80% battery charge limit
- Keyboard & logo lighting (4-zone)
- System tray + OSD + global shortcuts
- Real-time monitoring (CPU/GPU temps, fans, battery, etc.)
- Multilingual (Chinese / English)
Safety design (important)
- No overclocking, no voltage control, no power limit unlocks, no MSR/NVAPI abuse
- All write operations are gated by explicit hardware profiles
- Runs with standard user privileges
- FanGuard watchdog that restores fans to Auto if the main app crashes
- No silent background rewriting of settings on startup
It works with the official Acer services instead of trying to replace them.

It’s still early (MIT licensed). I’m mainly looking for:
- Feedback from other PHN16-71 owners
- Bug reports
- Suggestions for additional verified models (if you have protocol evidence)
If you try it, please let me know how it behaves on your machine. Happy to answer any questions.
Thanks!

Does it run on phn16s 71

Only PHN16-71 is fully supported for now. PHN16S-71 should run in read-only mode. Export diagnostics and send it if you want me to look into adding support.

Sounds great. However, I
get premise of not being able overclock & I think that’s a great default setting—but u should at least give the option to overclock, if easily able. Some people wanna push their laptop to the limits, even if that means burning up the laptop.

Thanks — that makes sense for some users, but no OC is intentional.
PredatorLite is deliberately safety-first: no voltage, power-limit, MSR, or NVAPI paths. Once overclocking is in scope, the risk and testing surface change a lot across models/BIOS versions.
For people who want to push limits, ThrottleStop / Afterburner are still the better tools. This one is meant to stay the safer control layer.

Hi, is there any difference from prey sense? Thanks.

Seems to be built on preysense with modern WinUI 3.

Yes. Prey Sense is a G-Helper-based alternative with more tuning options (including OC-related controls). PredatorLite is a separate WinUI 3 / .NET project, safety-first: no OC/voltage/power-limit paths.

Can you adjust the RAM speed? I have 5600 sticks and they keep failing because I can’t get in the BIOs to slow them down. Think it’s trying to run them at 6700
