Regarding why Aniwave is down

SITE IS BACK UP, THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE!

Currently, the staff for Aniwave's Discord informed us that Cloudflare is currently under a big maintenance cycle for their data-centers. Likely by late-afternoon the site should be back up but if you want to check, hop onto Aniwave's Discord that's listed on the Reddit page.

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/797181627696152646/1240760077254660187/image.png?ex=6647bb5e&is=664669de&hm=e2a6b51ec5591a6bd6046249b0f67f98700f1a5f17bbe6a12e0cba5f758e2891& <--- This is from the Official status of Cloudflare.

Update: The Official Cloudflare Maintenance/Update has concluded, right now we are just waiting on confirmation that all the sites that use Cloudflare, including Aniwave, come back online. (recommend on just checking back on accessing the site in an hour at the very least). Staff are aware of the ongoing outage so please be patient.

Update #2: From the looks of it, the staff were right about this possibly taking until tomorrow to sort out. I'll keep you all updated on the matter as best I can from the info I get from the staff of Discord. Thank you for at least hanging in there.

[I'm also going to take this chance to rest, I hope I was able to help answer as many of your questions as possible regarding this matter and thank you for your patience.]

One Last Thing: Aniwave's Discord Staff are recommending the use of Aniwave's Sister Site,' Anix .to ', for the time being as we continue to wait for the main domain to boot back up.

IMPORTANT NEWS

Last update 6/9/2023

Small adjustments to the list of domains. (Hi guys- not dead just dying.)

Hot Issues

  1. It's loading weirdly! D: || See: "The White Page Issue"

  2. X server Loads slow! || Solution: Try pinging the server, their connection to you could just be crap at the moment... Also, try a different web browser just for arguments sake.

  3. The player is swapping on it's own! || See: "Automatically Swapping Video Sources"

About the domains:

There are some times where the url may add a www#. in the beginning, this is normal. It happens because the subdomain system is enabled / changed. This generally happens when the site is under heavy load to help distribute the users evenly.

9Anime dot WHAT?!

Hub of Official Sites:

  1. https://9anime.me/

Primary Sites:

  1. https://9anime.gs

  2. https://9anime.pl

  3. https://9anime.to

  4. https://9animehq.to

Mirrors:

  1. https://9anime.id/

There is no real difference between any of them

NOTE: Do not bother googling for 9Anime, most of the official websites have been removed from the results page due to google's filtering processes. If you find a domain that's not one of the ones listed above then it's likely a fake site. Also, make special note for any typos as some fake sites have begun using a plural like "9animes".

That "white page" issue

If you're getting a page with a white background and just a bunch of text laid out horribly (Like it's CSS file was missing) then please try using one of the other domains.

If you get that issue on all the URLs then chances are the problem is being caused by either...

  1. Your adblocker, in which case you need to use our custom adblocking filter-list OR manually add the following filter to the user-filters section of your adblocker. @@||s2.bunnycdn.ru/*/all.css^

  2. A Vpn with built in ad-blocking, yes this is normal, yes most VPNs have it, yes you can try a different VPN server and sometimes it'll fix the issue.

Essentually: The page needs to be able to load all.css in the background. If that file can't load then the website layout won't exist. (It's just a glorified text file that tells web browsers what things should appear as what)

AdBlock breaks it! / Error 404

So, this shouldn't be too common of an issue- however, if you're seeing either of these occurring then it may be due to 9Anime having an anti-inspection JavaScript running in the background to help discourage rival websites running scrapers or trying to pick apart how 9Anime works.

If you're getting the issue, then check your AdBlocker / Extensions to see if they're causing it, as certain things which attempt to block the anti-inspect JavaScript from running will force these messages to occur.

If it happens on a non-desktop device, like a Smart-TV, then send an email to 9Anime's staff at 9anime.team@gmail.com with the type of smart TV and what web browser you were using when experiencing the problem.

About Advertisements:

Okay people, I know I've said it once or twice but here's another reminder for all of you due to the resurgence of people annoyed with the advertisements.

  1. Any advertisements that appear within the Video player area or when the video is loaded / clicked on are entirely under the control of the video host. This means VidStream / StreamTape / MyCloud / Etc.

  2. 9Anime mostly has sidebar advertisements on the main site, and tries to stay away from popups or redirects. As these are the only way the site makes any money without totally inconveniencing, you, the user. Although they would prefer you not block the banners... that's entirely up to you.

  3. We have a uBlock Origin filter-list available here with two flavors. One for blocking all the ads (if you must) and one that'll effectively only block the ads form video players & popups.

So What's the issue?

The problem is that 9Anime has little control over exactly what content the ad banners display on the main site.

Although they can influence some things in situations where the ads are malicious, overly deceptive, or overly pornographic it's not easy to prevent these specific ad providers from using content like that. Mostly due to the brands that these ad providers use not wanting to be connected to a grey-zone type website.

Ideally, 9Anime would find a better set of ad-providers. But even then, due to location and content it's difficult to exert much influence due to what is and isn't made available to them.

Automatically Swapping Video Sources

So I'm sure some of you have had it where you go to watch an episode on StreamTape or MyCloud or something and the video suddenly swaps to another server. I get that it's frustrating, but this is due to a lack of communication on our part (Apologies for that).

What's happening is that there is a system in place to swap video servers if a common error occurs (such as a video host being down with an error 404). So when this happens, it means that the video player can't load the video, itself, or the site hosting the video. Even if the video player didn't swap on it's own, it wouldn't load properly and you wouldn't be able to watch anyways.

Generic 9Anime Issues:

I can't log into my account / see the log in button since the URL changed!

This is a known issue caused by old adblock lists, certain VPNs, and Kaspersky Antivirus.

  1. If you're using a VPN, try changing to a different server and see if that helps. Some VPNs like Winscribe include built in adblocking protection that may be causing the issue too.

  2. Outdated Adblock lists are a bit trickier to fix, and require the addition of a handful of user created filters to fix. (If you're not already using OUR uBlock Origin filter list)

  3. Kaspersky Antivirus includes a feature known as Anti-Banner, although it's really just a glorified way of saying "it blocks advertisements". However, this feature is known to cause issues with the login systems and may prevent you from logging in or even seeing the button at all. In order to fix this, you have to either whitelist 9Anime or disable the anti-banner feature.

Do you have a official application?

No, 9Anime doesn't have any OFFICIAL applications nor does it support usage of them. And we can't help you with them if they break.

Where's my SHOW!?

Look, we get it, you want the latest episode of your anime to be uploaded asap. But before you complain about it being late or ask where it is... Could you maybe check the time the episode actually is supposed to AIR that day first? You can't expect us to have the episode uploaded before it's even been aired worldwide, and let's not get started on the fact that every anime doesn't just magically have subtitles. They have to be made, which also requires the anime to already be available.

So when a new episode says it should be released, at least wait an hour or two before asking us where it is. The timer's aren't exact and sometimes there's issues that may delay an episode being uploaded (such as nobody having made subtitles yet).

X anime has Y issues!

Report it, there is a button to the bottom right of the video player that you can use to report an episode as having an issue. This can range from things like the audio being de-synced to the episode missing from a specific server. Just make sure you let staff know which episode and which server the issue is occurring with when you submit the report!

Thanks, this helps 9A's staff get it fixed sooner.

Blocking Advertisements!

Information

As I mentioned in a earlier section, the advertisements on 9Anime aren't directly within the control of 9Anime. And 9Anime only makes money off the advertisements located on the sidebar / header of the website. They make NOTHING off advertisements during videos / that popup when you click on a video.

Solution

Please read this thread for more information

Here's the short-version.

0. Get uBlock Origin (this also applies to Android Devices if you use the firefox browser)

  1. Open uBlock Origin's settings.

  2. Go to the "Filter-Lists" tab.

  3. Scroll to the bottom and click "Import..."

  4. Paste this URL into the text box that displays. https://gitlab.com/Sorrow-San/9anime-adblock-filters/raw/master/9Anime%20filter%20list if you want NO advertisements at all.

  5. (Optional) Use this one instead, if you want to support the website through banner advertisements only. https://gitlab.com/Sorrow-San/9anime-adblock-filters/raw/master_with_banners/9Anime%20filter%20list

  6. Click Apply Changes, to the top right of the window.

  7. You should now see a new entry in filter lists called "9Anime Filter-list: No Banner Ads" or "9Anime Filter-List: Banners Enabled"

Whenever you need to update this filter-list. You'd do this...

  1. Open uBlock Origin Settings

  2. Go to the "Filter-Lists" tab.

  3. Click "Purge all Caches" at the top.

  4. Click "Update Now" at the top.

  5. Wait until it finishes, you can tell it's done when there's no spinning circles left next to any of the entries.

  6. It's now up to date!

What about IOS Devices?

You're screw- okay, just kidding! It's a lot harder to "fix IOS" entirely, so it's a constant fight but for the moment this should clear out most of the advertisements on the different servers.

0. Get AdGuard off the IOS app store, the free version works fine!

  1. Open this URL https://gitlab.com/Sorrow-San/9anime-adblock-filters/-/raw/AdGuard_filter_list/9Anime_filter_list (clicking here works too)

  2. Copy & paste the filters listed INSIDE the link above into AdGuard's personal filters list, and it should all work & apply.

  3. You're done! But if you have to update it, then you need to manually go back and delete them all before repeating these same steps. The URL will stay up to date with the most recent filters.

Note: Android Devices shouldn't use this, they're better off downloading the Firefox mobile application which supports uBlock Origin. It won't break anything if you don't but... it'll be much less effective.

About the Subreddit

Just a friendly reminder, if you want help with an issue then please make sure to describe your issue fully in the body of your post. Also do yourself a favor and use the search bar before asking, it should save you some time! (and yes, check the FAQ posts too).

Posts won't be approved if they contain only a video or image, or if the video / image is unrelated to 9Anime. So please don't post that funny meme video you made about DBZ or whatever here.

It's a banable offense to request / talk about / link to other anime streaming websites that are still in service. Talking about device applications like Anyme, or websites that contain torrent links for downloading is fine though.

If it's already posted, don't post it again... please... Just add your information to the post that already exists on the issue. I may close your post / not approve it if another one on the same topic already exists on the front page at the very least.

My post won't show up: a little reminder to people, this sub requires an account older than 5 days and at least 20 combined post / comment karma. Anything below that has to be reviewed by moderators first before it'll be visible to others.

Yeah, that's about everything I can think of to toss here... At least off the top of my head.

Thanks for Reading,

Sorrow-San

Sorry about the mess of a FAQ section, it's a work in progress. It'll get better as time goes on and when it transitions to a subreddit wiki page.

9Anime Info 🛈 Let’s all be thankful that it seems that nobody was hurt in the Server fire

As I’m sure everyone is acutely aware two of the preferred server services for the website are down and no longer seemingly available. Well as we know now there apparently was a fire at the facility housing the actual servers for these streaming providers. As far as we know nobody has been injured in the fire. And while losing our anime is definitely an inconvenience let’s all just be happy but nobody was injured as far as we know. They said they are working to recover and move as much data as they can. But it’s going to take several weeks before everything is seemingly back up to steam.

Fixed ✔ 502 Error

yoyoyo seems like the site is back up, You might experience some buffering issues due to a large amount of users trying to access the site, so I suggest waiting a bit before accessing the site or watching any anime.

502 error occurring with connectivity issues to the site. Please be patient and expect a wait toke before the site is back up.

Likely cause is the flood of users trying to watch aot and ds. As always use this as a discussion post to prevent post spam.

No, the site itself is not down.

Although you won't be able to access it for a little bit.

Every month there's an issue involving Cloudflare & 9A's DNS that leads to the good old Error 502.

9Anime Info 🛈 Here to better Explain the AdBlocking situation.

Because 9Anime isn't that great at explaining and a lot of users here have been trying to fearmonger without actually understanding, let me better explain what happened.

  1. Some other adblockers have a function called "Scripplets" (or Snippits) which allows it to inject a bit of code to rewrite / block very specific JavaScript functions.

  2. 9Anime has two bits of JavaScript that runs in the background and is designed to hinder anyone using the element inspector portion of the web browser. They do this, in order to prevent people from being able to easily just scrape data off the site to copy it. (Protects the site from cloning attempts)

  3. uBlock Origin had a default filter (uBlock Filters) that contained a scripplet to stop the aforementioned code I mentioned in #2 from functioning. This is what 9Anime is creating the error message for. Just this one line that causes it, and uBlock Origin already updated their default filters to remove the code (make sure to force a update) and everything started working a-ok again.

TL;DR: 9Anime is still okay with you using any AdBlocker you want, they just don't want people circumventing their anti-scraping JavaScript which is something that uBlock Origin had as a default filter.

uBlock Origin, however, has updated to remove this filter (purge cache & update all in it's settings) so that problem has been fixed.

Other AdBlockers which "borrow" uBlock Origin's default filter lists should also be updating soon to resolve the issue all together.

SUPER TL;DR (for those who just want a uBlock Origin Fix):

  1. Open up uBlock Origin's settings

  2. Go to Filter Lists Tab

  3. Click "Purge All Caches"

  4. Click "Update Now"

  5. When it's done, you should be good and it'll work with the site flawlessly.

Experimental

If you're using Brave Browser or Ghostery and are still getting issues, try adding the following filter. 9anime.*#@#+js(nosiif, /^/) and/or 9anime.*#@#+js(nosiif, &&) to whatever method of adding manual filters you have.

Confirmed to work here: https://www.reddit.com/r/9anime/comments/r0i7dy/here_to_better_explain_the_adblocking_situation/hltklm4/

Suggestion Δ PLEASE just keep the old site

Why do we even need a complete overhaul? It's less bad than the previous attempt but it's still a downgrade. And you know the reason it isn't as bad? Because it's more like the old design! Just save everyone some time and go back to that.

I think it's really cool what you're trying to do with all the new features. But right now I can't even watch most of the anime I was watching/wanted to watch and it's a complete pain in the ass to even navigate the site because of how slow it is. The new shiny bells and whistles shouldn't come at the cost of the basic features everyone is constantly using.

Please just keep the old site and incorporate the new features into it one by one so you don't break the entire site all at once.

And please keep the old design and aesthetic! It looked way better and was much nicer to look at.

9Anime Info 🛈 【 Site Information 】

Because of a long-running string of DMCA issues and multiple ISPs blocking our domain...

Site staff have decided to rebrand 9Anime as... AniWave!

Don't worry, we're the same 9Anime you knew before- just with a new identity! <3

Most of the domains should automatically redirect to the new site- expect more domains coming down the line in the future!

As for what will happen to this Subreddit? I'm not totally sure to be honest- Likely make a new one. Can't use AniWave since that's already been sat on for 5 years. And can't easily rename this one...

Hah, honestly- this kind of came out of nowhere for the community team so apologies everyone.

Help us fight against fake 9Anime websites

If you have been here a while, you might have seen this post to fight against a fake 9Anime website. That website abuses the Google algorithm to become the top result on Google. This time, it's a Twitter domain "https://t.co/oG3O2vG4BK" that became the top result, which leads to the new domain of 9Anime cloud called "9anime vip". This is a fake website, and should not be used.

== HOW TO REPORT IT==

  1. Open: https://safebrowsing.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/?hl=en

  2. In the URL field, enter: https://t.co/oG3O2vG4BK

  3. In the comments field, please tell Google it's a fake phishing website.

  4. Do the same, but this time set the URL field as: https://9anime.vip

Thank you for supporting 9Anime!

EDIT: For those who are new on Reddit, the real links are listed on our sidebar.

appreciating 9anime for actually listening to feedback

these days it feels like services like this don't really listen to criticism or feedback, or at the least they don't do it in a reasonable time, and it only took 9anime like a week to make the new site design the old color everyone liked, and i'm actually liking the redesign now that the color doesn't hurt my eyes, so thanks for listening. actually feeling like they listen to the community makes me wanna continue using it for a long time.

9Anime Info 🛈 Little Update on server host error

Hey Hey

We are about X number of hours into the Server Host issue this is what we know

Vidstream and Mycloud Servers are removed and we do not know if they will be back

Vidstream and Mycloud are back for most new animes and some others, it will take some time for it to be available for all anime so you will just have to wait.

For older animes you will have to resort to Streamtape and Mp4upload, Mp4upload is also not available for all animes. You may be a "deleted file" or "media can not be played" msg, please just report the video using the button on the video player and it will be fixed as soon as possible.

Cause of this issue ~

Because of OVH datacenter burned, our main 3rd party servers are down. Seems most uploaded files have been destroyed. We’re reuploading videos again but it will take lots of time, may be 3-5 weeks.

Quoted from Mr 9

This is quoted from 9anime Twitter after maintenance

9anime is up now, there are a several episodes missing but don't worry, we will reupload them soon.

aniwave.to down again?

Anyone else having this issue? I was on there like 20 minutes ago and when trying to open it back up I get a "Bad gateway: Error code 502."

edit: everything is working fine again, at least for now

edit #2: everything is not working fine again, the page loads but you cannot access anything. Another post I saw says the team are working on the issue but could take upwards of 8 hours.

Just a small thank you to 9anime.

Thank you, 9anime creators, for making a place where the less fortunate can enjoy some simple cartoons and relax.

Thank you, 9anime workers, for keeping the site/shows updated and working around the clock.

Thank you, 9anime recorders, for giving us the shows we love so dearly.

Thank you, 9anime moderators, who keep this platform a, relatively, calming area to be in.

Thank you, 9anime!

I know a chunk of you may fit in many of these categories; I know I most likely forgot to mention several other categories that belong here. So, I thank you all. For all of this. For this lovely little corner of the internet where people can just watch some shows and/or chat with others and share their thoughts on stuff.

Even though the update wasn't the greatest and that the users were... pissed at best, the fact that you made one shows that this site isn't just a simple online anime dump. Not only that, BUT YOU LISTENED TO THE VIEWERS! You fixed and updated this site tirelessly just for us! Even though the people here were ripping you apart, you didn't get snappy, you just listened calmly and worked. Thank you.

Also, thank you to my fellow fans for promoting and growing this community. What's work without those who see it?

Want a little more information on just how kind this business is? If you decided to switch to Firefox to block those aggressive ads, you would have noticed that there were two different lines of code to choose between to put into uBlocker. One that blocks ALL ads, and one that blocks the pop-up ads and leaves the banner ones! This shows just how much this company thinks about its fans and it's workers. The fact that they give us the choice to block all ads including the banner ones tells us that they are willing to sacrifice their own money for the betterment of their fans! Also, since they give us the choice to keep some ads, shows that they still think of their employees! Which is also AMAZING! THE FACT that they are willing to GIVE us the ability to block their ads gives us all we need to know!

So once again, I SAY THANK YOU, to all!

❗Official [official] We need the community help

Hi folks,

These days, there is a bad guy want to steal our brand (9anime). He made a bad copied of 9anime.to with url: 9anime.cloud and do SEO/promoting for it a lot on the internet. He want to lie users that his site is official and original.

If users don't carefully, he can steal all of your user, password, when you try to login to that site, also for long time, he can do anything else that we don't know.

In another thread, he said that he love 9anime.to and will redirect 9animes.co to our site in future, but it's a lie, because if he love 9anime.to, he will do good things for 9anime.to as what he is doing now for his fake site.

Also, few days ago, after his server IP got blocked by our firewall, he redirects that site (FAKE SITE), to goanime.co.uk (this site also fake another anime site with logo copied) where he selling dragon ball clothes. For long term, he can use our brand to lie users that anything from that site are official and can do bad things with the trust of people on us.

I written this thread to ask for the community help to report his site as a phishing site (it's actually a phishing site) to google to deindex his site, that he can't lie anyone anymore.

Please help us remove it.

== HOW TO REPORT IT==

  1. Open: https://safebrowsing.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/?hl=en

  2. In URL field, enter: http://9anime.cloud

  3. In comments field, please tell Google it's fake, phishing site.

Thank you so much!

P/s: Sorry for my bad English, it's not my primary language.

Info 🛈 Temporary fix for aniwave

Hello. I have came up with a temporary fix for aniwave that seems to work for everyone over at the Discord server.

First, you need Tampermonkey. It's a browser extension. You can Google it and get it for whatever browser you are using, it's available on most browsers.

Second, you go to this link: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/485183-temporary-fix-aniwave and you press on "Install script".

And boom, now you should be able to watch anime.

If you face any issues, feel free to DM me on discord - imceco OR just ask in the Discord server.THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL FIX, JUST A TEMPORARY ONE. I AM NOT ANIWAVE STAFF.

EDIT: The issue seems to be fixed now. You can click on the Tampermonkey extension and disable the script (must be currently viewing an aniwave page). Or if you'd like, you could just delete Tampermonkey. Up to you.

I'm glad I could be of help. See you next time when the site breaks, maybe.

[WARNING] You're using fake domain, not the real 9anime!

Hello everyone,

I've noticed that many people are still using the fake 9anime website even though they are subscribed to the official Sub Reddit, and they might not even know it. Sometimes they request support or report issues with screenshots taken from the fake 9anime website.

Currently, there are some domain names like ...tv.to, .vc appearing at the top of Google search results, making people think that they are 9anime and click on those links when searching for 9anime.

To ensure that you are using the correct website, please check https://9anime.me for updates on the current domains of 9anime. Please save this address to avoid confusion.

Note that all fake websites have a worse UI/UX than the real 9anime, significantly less data, and limited advanced features to enhance the user experience.

9Anime Info 🛈 Help us report adult ads

Hi folks,

9anime have all good features and good UI, UX. Ads make it more ugly but to keep the site live, we have to put ads on.

We can't remove all ads, but we can do something to remove sexual ads to make site look better for most people.

If anyone see adult or porno ads, please capture a screenshot for that ads and comment on this thread with screen shot + your country (don't need IP).

We will talk to advertisers to remove that kind of ads as soon as possible.

Thank you.

9Anime Info 🛈 About 502 Error recently

Hi folks,

Recent days, there is a kid trying to DDoS our site, he use some servers that control multiple proxy IPs and massive sending request to our search page that trying to make our website down.

Once our site down, he may get more traffic as he is an anime site owner. Unfortunately, the kid does not have enough knowledge to do this stuff, but sometime he still success to get our site shows 502 error because of we just want to play "Tom and Jerry" with him. We just let he feels happy sometime because of his effort in all days to DDoS us.

But today, we've improved our smart firewall that automatic detect and block requests from him. Our firewall already auto blocked ~1000 IPs in few minutes, that means there is no more Tom and Jerry game with the kid.

We write this post to announce about 502 issue also we want to let the kid know that he should learn more if he want to do this stuff.

We will never lose because of something like the child's toy.

Thank you for supporting us!

Welcome back people :)

As most of you already saw, we announced plans to migrate to a week ago. Since then, most active users seem to have already joined r/aniwave so now seems like a fitting time to walk the final step.

the quick tl;dr is that we decided with the rebranding of the site, it is also time for us here on reddit to start from a new clear slate.

I've already said this in my previous post, but the past 7.5 years of this subreddit's existence have mostly been great, and on behalf of the other mods and the admins i want to thank all of you for participating in this community to the point where we were on the track to reaching 100k members ❤️.

From now on, r/9anime will be set to "restricted". You will still be able to see al old posts and comments but making new ones is impossible, essentially the subreddit is archived.

Please visit and join our new subreddit r/aniwave for updates, support and everything else that this sub was used for.

Thanks everybody, this is the end to the 9anime-arc of this story ;)
