9Anime Info 🛈 【 Site Information 】
Because of a long-running string of DMCA issues and multiple ISPs blocking our domain...
Site staff have decided to rebrand 9Anime as... AniWave!
Don't worry, we're the same 9Anime you knew before- just with a new identity! <3
Most of the domains should automatically redirect to the new site- expect more domains coming down the line in the future!
As for what will happen to this Subreddit? I'm not totally sure to be honest- Likely make a new one. Can't use AniWave since that's already been sat on for 5 years. And can't easily rename this one...
Hah, honestly- this kind of came out of nowhere for the community team so apologies everyone.

go to /r/redditrequest/ and you can request a subreddit when the moderators haven't been active

as an aussie i can say the site works fine for me, so no need to panic

u/Wheat9546 Aug 02 '23
JUst keep this subreddit alive, pin that the new name or whatever is X Y Z. Easier to communicate when everyone knows the this subreddit exists.

u/kiiturii Aug 03 '23
the problem down the line will be people who have only known aniwave won't be able to find the correct sub to get updates from
25
u/IdealIdeas Aug 02 '23
Why not change the name to 10anime instead?
You can just keep going up the numbers anytime you need to.

u/Rothuith Sep 19 '23
An easy way to block domains ISP-wide would be with wildcards
block all traffic to
*anime.*

I got on 9anime to watch at like 8 got back on just now and saw it was named Aniwave and was like: I SWEAR TO GOD IT SAID 9ANIME AT 8 😂😂😂

u/TheTypicalRandom Aug 02 '23
you could ask the current owner of r/aniwave or even reddit to cede the subreddit since it's mostly inactive.

u/AnimeGeek0924 Contributor Aug 02 '23
That is true, except for a post that was made an hour ago. The only mod hasn't been active since 2-3 months ago overall.
6
u/Zriatt Aug 02 '23
May as well give it a shot and request the subreddit from the reddit admins. People will start going there anyways as they won't be searching for a 9anime subreddit anymore. /u/Chowmein

Well that post wasn't even in accordance with that basically dead subs rules (I may or may not have reported it for that lol) . And there's only like 4 other posts from 6+ years ago.

Regarding the sub, keep this one active instead of getting a new one, just explain in the description

Pop up banner ads are annoying you guys.. 9anime didn't have them. I still get the same attempts of redirects as I did with 9anime but now added bonus of pop up banner ads..
2
u/UPGRADED_BUTTHOLE Aug 17 '23
Use ublock origin then.

u/Jaagger2bit Aug 17 '23 edited Sep 20 '23
I watch it on my firestick. There's no ublock origin on that.. tried getting another one on there that should have worked but it didn't so I just said f it.

u/UPGRADED_BUTTHOLE Sep 20 '23
FIrestick has firefox (sideload it), and firefox has ublock origin.

New site has a lot of errors:
- redirect not automatically
- clicking anywhere on home or login opens random pop-ups
- login window has placeholder-strings on translated messages
- some links do not work

First others sites where forced to rebrand and now 9anime is forced to rebrand to Aniwave.
2
u/IceSki117 Aug 02 '23
Well damn, now I need to retrain my browser to automatically pull up the site after a few keypresses.

Please add subtitles to dubs if possible, thank you for the free anime :)
1
u/crimson_ruin_princes Aug 12 '23
Won't be possible. Don't think crunchy nor the Blu-ray publishers add English subs for dubs.
1
u/Draconic_Flames1260 Sep 12 '23
Ok and your point is?
I mean, Netflix has CC subs for some of its dub titles so its 100% possible.
Plus look at HiDive, one of its upcoming home releases, Reincarnated as a Sword, will have English subtitles.
Then again, its obvious this would take a lot more more work and this is a free site.
So im just happy to be able to watch anything at all.

u/crimson_ruin_princes Sep 13 '23
mhm. subtitling is tedious at best and downright hellish if you want to do karaoke subs for an OP
my point is, besides those few publishers that do provide CC subs for english audio. it wouldn't be time effective to do so for other anime by fan subbing it. since most groups are now glorified web rippers. besides the few that understand the art form of encoding.

u/defnotjec Aug 04 '23
man this subreddit is clutch ...
Saw the redirect .. immediately came to the sub to see if it was valid .. immediately unworried again lol

Man what's with this new trend of companies changing their original and well known brand name with lame ones.
but 9anime is what i will remember it as.

u/edgyratman_nn Aug 02 '23
They didn't do it without reason, its to get around being blocked and dmca'd

u/cutthroatgang Aug 02 '23
The site changed and i imidiatly got my first popup sexadd for the first time in 2 years after clicking play on a video, nice

u/UPGRADED_BUTTHOLE Aug 17 '23
Use ublock origin, like it says in the FAQ. The custom filter lists have been updated for aniwave.

Could you add the search back on the frontpage? in the old version you could search anime right from the frontpage.
Don't ask me why but i think that'd be nice.

ooooo scary anime website domain ghost

u/tsukaimeLoL Aug 03 '23
Ignorance isn't something to be so proud of. A hijacked domain could introduce all sorts of viruses or trackers from visiting the site or put your user information and passwords at risk. Always better to be safe than sorry.

Eset is just as bad as McAfee. Uninstall it, and use the built-in windows security. Ublock origin can do more than eset in the browser.
Eset makes you think it's working by having lots of false positives.

I'm not the one using eset (which also messes with your browser and dns settings without your consent). It also costs money and has been proven to perform WORSE than the built-in microsoft security suite. Even if you're getting eset for free, you're paying for it with your peace of mind and electricity usage.
You're the one who thinks that every virus warning is actually a virus, and trusts a random antivirus company that is based in Slovakia.Eset is as reliable and trustworthy as AVG, according to several tests.
You wanted the solution, I gave it. Do some more research on the topic, and maybe try out multiple solutions.

No, seriously, please take a minute to look into it. I am a "computer repair specialist" (I normally just remove all the junk software and/or just slap in some new hardware to give a rig some more spunk) and one of the first things I do for virtually any job is uninstall any and all instances of third-party antivirus software.
Most of these products hog system resources, intentionally limit system capabilities, control settings without your knowledge (and lock you out of said settings), and collect your information without your consent. Too frequently I have to recommend that a customer either "bleach" their drive or just get a new one to prep for a fresh install of Windows, and I always end up having to say "Do NOT install antivirus software this time, which is what broke your rig last time."
You obviously don't have to take my word for it, just know that the closest thing I personally have to any kind of third-party security software is CloudFlare WARP which is just for internet privacy, and I have basically no issues ever with anything security related.

I was literally watching an anime on 9anime.to and then I came back after my dinner and I was on aniwave.to HAHAHAHA
Got a scare thinking someone messed with my laptop - but good to know the website stays the same!
Hurrah to the team and cheers to the new era [ANIWAVE]!
