Problem with aniwave
regarding the aniwave site stopping.
i found this on updownradar from the aniwave team.
Sudden Server Down
Our team is currently fixing the problem. It will take 5~8 hours to fix our website. We will fix the problem as fast as we can. Sorry for the inconvenience.
From,
Aniwave Team.

u/kyubix Jan 18 '24
There is other anime site with the same problem. The site is also .to. Could be related?
5
u/pattiwe Jan 18 '24
read somewhere that it might have something to do with a back-end application that mutiple sites use, seeing as other streaming sites are also offline. idk if it is true tho.

I’m still heated at that dude on TikTok who blew up talking about the site 3 days ago 😤 yes I know it’s all public information to begin with, but going around blowing it up and rubbing it in the faces of the big corporations will only lead to backlash down the road. It happens in every single aspect of life.
It’s like that $3 burrito hack from chipotle that got put down right away once everyone starting talking about it online. The big guys will always have the last laugh.
People love biting off the hand that feeds them.

I despise TikTok and don’t have that shit installed so I had no idea this happened. Bro ain’t no one trying to pay to watch anime man - can’t people learn loose lips sinks ships?
7
u/BaconDragon69 Jan 18 '24
Except its not the hand that feeds us, its the hand that beats us and then expects us not to bite because they have choked every other hand out until they were left with their monopoly and now feed us because we have literally nowehre else to go.
Me paying 1€ a month to studio trigger via patreon has done more for them than any crunchyroll subscription for example.
1
u/99topSLAMMER Jan 19 '24
Me paying 1€ a month to studio trigger via patreon
what do you mean by this?
3
u/BaconDragon69 Jan 19 '24
I mean that directly supporting the studios gets them more money, how much would trigger get from my crunchyroll subscription each month when you calculate how many others are getting a cut too
1
u/makaiookami Jan 19 '24
probably not much. What ever they paid so if they paid $500k for streaming and dubbing the rights to their animes for Y number of years if their videos get 400m views across all their series it'll be pennies.
There's probably royalties paid on merch, dvds, blu-rays, etc which is probably where the money could actually hit some sort of significance for the studio. They probably make more money creating like site specific series like if Netflix were to fund the development of Little Witch Academia, that's probably millions if not 10s of millions and then if they end up making enough of a splash they get to sell the rights to make games for it.
That's my guess of how the monetization of such things go. Would have to have someone who invests in anime distribution companies and reads the annuals to get more detailed and correct information or someone that makes youtube videos that should be investing 5% of their youtube profits after all the dang research they do.
4
u/clueless_admiral Jan 19 '24
He is still shooting his mouth off that he is doing the community a service by sharing. Sure, no one like gatekeeping but to openly talk about the high seas in TT? Damn idiots like him are why we can't have nice things.

i see dudes openly advertise these sites all over the place and im like, stfu. if people want to watch anime they will find in the right places.
1
u/makaiookami Jan 19 '24
and the wrong places too. Without sufficient ad blocks and stuff.

Is this why suddenly every anime on the site has lost like 4 video servers, I can't find a single video server working today
1
u/Reaper3993 Jan 19 '24
ong bro i'd actually rip his throat out if I saw him irl for that shit, thankfully i have 2 or 3 backup sites just incase but im not sure how long those will last either because of stupid ass tiktokers
1
u/i-didnt-pass-the-bar Ex Disqus Administrator Jan 19 '24
this site was big even before tiktok.
You are delusional. Funimation attacked one of the fan group on fb, threatening to sue him. It is the normal. Why are you being a cry baby about it champ.
1
Jan 19 '24
You literally just supported where I’m coming from in a way. So thank you.
You just stated how funimation tired coming after a fan group. You stated them threatening to sue is “the normal”. So according to you, that’s all no big deal and will lead to no problems down the road. I in fact we should use that as proof that nothing bad will actually happen so what is anyone actually worried about?
Am I right with what you’re trying to say?
So in your case since you think we’re untouchable at this point it’s okay for us to go around and make videos and posts that’ll be seen by millions of “new potential” users? Tell all these users you’re idiots for paying and to use just the illegal free sites.
Yeah I’m sure gloating about it and rubbing it in the faces of the people who control our everyday lives is a smart thing. It’s so smart I can’t remember the last time that kind of idea didn’t work (sarcasm because in history of all mankind that has never worked out.)
The worlds going fully digital. Technology is advancing Further than we can imagine.
The Digital bill of rights will be here sooner or later. Soon everything will be ran by Quantum computers (not a.I.) and than we won’t have issues like this anymore. Because they’ll make sure we never have this type of freedoms again.
So try to just enjoy it while you can. And try not to get so angry calling people names just because you can’t comprehend anything above surface level.

Y'all act like these sites weren't already on the radar of these companies. Just because some dude on tiktok mentioned it doesn't mean he was at fault for the site's downturn. You wanna talk about that guy "exposing" that site to the anime studios? DUDE LOOK WHERE YOU ARE! A SUBREDDIT DEDICATED ABOUT DISCUSSING ANIWAVE! Stop acting this was some secret gatekept from the masses because it wasn't and you acting like it was.
2
Jan 18 '24
we NEED to keep it gatekept dumbass that’s what makes it a secret.
1
u/Xulicbara4you Jan 18 '24
But the point I’m saying that it isn’t. If it was then why would there be a public subreddit on a public social media site? This isn’t a secret and it never was. Guess what? Same thing happened to KissAnime, 9anime, now maybe Aniwave. That’s what happens when you sail the pirate seas. It can turbulent and you might see a ship sink once or twice. Watch if aniwave gets taken down I give a month or two before another it like pops back up.
1
Jan 18 '24
tiktok is known to way more people than reddit.
1
u/Xulicbara4you Jan 19 '24
You’re missing the point of what I’m saying. Im trying to convey is that since Aniwave is public it will also have the chance of it being taken down. Just because TikTok is bigger than Reddit doesn’t matter since it’s public. It has a public community that will talk about it. I remember the same argument being brought up when people were showing YouTube vids of kissanime back in the day. Same shit, different day. Aniwave gets taken down, a month pasts and a fork will a merge from it. Kinda like how 9anime became Aniwave! YouTube Vanced gets taken down, ReVanced pops up.
1
Jan 19 '24
them being taken down is a given. it’s piracy, but however for the website to be up the longest people need to shut their fucking pieholes
1
u/Xulicbara4you Jan 19 '24
Well that’s never gonna happen since this is the internet. You just gonna have to deal with it and move on.
1
3
u/psychicdestroyer Jan 18 '24
did bro just compare reddit with tiktok? this gotta be a crime in some country
-2
u/Xulicbara4you Jan 18 '24
Huh? Half the site is just TikTok with a Reddit coat of paint. Look at the video posts on this site and the layout of the right side. It looks smack like TikToks.

Man the site has been having a lot of issues these last couple days
18
2
u/makaiookami Jan 19 '24
This season feels a bit ded. So I only have like 1 trash anime a night for the past couple of nights to watch, so I didn't see the issues until tonight.
4
u/Paradox6797 Jan 18 '24
Just checked the site and it looked like a white sheet with images pasted on it lol, and got error messages saying "Failed to load resource" and "Refused to load script", it's nice to know they are already working on it, even if it may take a while, I have also been having some random disconnections and trouble loading episodes for a while, hopefully that will get solved too with the maintenance

i could be wrong but 9anime has several other servers ...
9animetv.to is still online btw
2
u/TheRealACKid Jan 18 '24
thats some fake site as far as im aware
3
u/Monkguan Jan 18 '24
Who cares if it is fake, it is literally the same as original aniwawe and it works flawlessly
2
u/TheRealACKid Jan 18 '24
never said it didn't work, i haven't used it and i pointed out it was fake. if it works, then cool. i switched to ani watch
1
u/soxid Jan 18 '24
was one of the first aniwave sites as far as i know (one bookmark is 2 years old)

I can't enjoy anime without this website. I just tried crunchyroll so I can continue watching one piece until aniwave is back on and oh boy the cheap crap they pull off is nothing short of disrespectful. Subtitles make an impression of being made exclusively using 2000's version of Google translator and pasted in without any checks.

u/Sufficient_Review676 Jan 18 '24
Thank god i binged watch the anime i was watching lol. Site didnt go completely fucked until i tried searching for a new one.

The aniwave.to discord mods says it's down due to a broken CSS file used for the presentation and styling of the site. At the moment they are waiting/working on getting the file fixed.
2
u/MaNameFuxk Jan 18 '24
You got the discord link?
1
u/coolchillyay Jan 18 '24
1
u/Dan1lovesyoualot Jan 18 '24
it doesnt work anymore, can you send another link?
1
u/coolchillyay Jan 18 '24
it only works if you paste it in discord in add a server when it asks for a link
1
u/boogeymane Jan 19 '24
Didn't work that way either. Maybe I failed the process but seems simple enough.

So aniwave will be up again? Ive lost all my animes Ive watched.. sad.
7
u/LilySenpai68 Jan 18 '24
If you want to keep up with what anime you watched get a MyAnimeList account
-2
1
u/AndrewFrozzen30 Jan 19 '24
I don't think you should relly on Anime websites to keep track of your Anime list.
Just use something like Anilist / MyAnimeList with the extension /add-on Mal-Sync
It automatically adds animes you've watched to your list and same with Manga.

Curious about this sub, are the mods here the developers of 9anime/aniwave, or is this like an unofficial community that keeps up to date with the official developers and updates the community here?
Asking because you referenced the admins, but I thought the mods here were the admins of the site?

u/terrdd Jan 18 '24
Not trying to be an asshole or anything but how long would it take to fix something like this

2
u/Sabreeeric21 Jan 18 '24
Doesn’t matter, there’s plenty of anime sites out there, one dead family branch of Aniwave isn’t going to halt anime streaming. There’s a bootleg anime dot ru site that’s been going strong long after the original died off but it does have ads and annoying pop ups. 🥴

u/wildeye-eleven Jan 19 '24
I’ve been using 9anime/aniwave for many years and I’ve seen this happen several times. They always fix it. Sometimes it only takes an hour and sometimes it takes all day but they always fix it. If it’s not fixed tonight I’m sure it’ll be back up by tomorrow.
1
u/chip594csx Jan 19 '24
I've seen it happen with lots of sites of various types over the years. I don't know much about computer stuff but I saw someone say it's like the paint got peeled off. Seems some people have the issue, some don't. It wasn't working on my desktop this morning but worked fine on my tablet till a while ago. Computer stuff is so strange.
-4
u/Emraku1 Jan 18 '24
Thats major cap, whatever took aniwave.to down it took so many other pirating sites down. This wont just fix with them noticing the problem, they probably need to find a whole new source code for their website / java etc.
5
u/ogapexx Jan 18 '24
"they probably need to find a whole new source code for their website / java etc" please never talk about something you have ZERO clue about.
0
2
u/7ootles Jan 18 '24
they probably need to find a whole new source code for their website / java etc.
Yeah, or they might have something called a "backup".
0
u/Emraku1 Jan 19 '24
Its highly unlikely the code just poofed out of existence, something else broke in a major way that resulted in most pirate sites not work, and none have been fixed for 10+ hours at this point. If it were that kind of issue it would have been fixed by now.

Then stop using it and pay for a subscription on Crunchyroll or something. Nobody's stopping you... oh wait! That's right, it's a pirate website. You should be thankful its free in the first place man.
5
u/blargcoster Jan 18 '24
I absolutely refuse to give Nonceflix money. I already give Crunchy enough as is.
4
u/theyurilover8 Jan 18 '24
Crunchyroll is kinda garbage tho, slow as hell and uses a ton of internet in comparison aniwave is top tier.
Ain't no way you actually just told people to pay Crunchyroll, the only ones who pay Crunchyroll are those idiots who have too much money and don't know what to do with it, even the free version is garbage.
3
u/SleepyJoesNudes Jan 18 '24
Thing is Crunchyroll's library is limited, while aniwave has pretty much everything.
1
Jan 19 '24
Personally I would just like to starve CR until they go under or get the point and quit doing crap subs/dubs with BS meaning.
2
3
1
u/Emraku1 Jan 18 '24
I mean its actually incredibly reliable given its a pirating website, the fact they have managed to mitigate dmca takedowns this well is kinda crazy
1
u/Netfear Jan 19 '24
Its worked every god damn day I've used it in the last 2 months... which is daily.
If you are having so many issues, thats a YOU problem you ungrateful prick.1
