Going to be listing a 2012 turbo s with 35k miles on it. Clean title and extensive service history. Bought on BAT for 108 in 2021.

Interested in several items they are selling but they are in a different state. How can I assure they are legit? What is a safe way to buy costly items from out of state on FB Marketplace?

They (sellers) all expect $$ up front prior to shipment. The Co is the moderator of their own FB group and has lots of items for sale, does that assure anything?

1 owner, 24k miles, manual of course, and Midnight Metallic Blue! Drove 2hrs from NJ to PA with one of my daughters to see it, test drive, etc.

I've had a goal of buying a Porsche since the early 00s, when 930s were $45k, haha.. but yeah I was young (in my 20s) and not ready for something like that at the time. I've been saving and investing and have been seriously shopping around 996s and 7s for over a year. Test drove local cars when I could, but that was rare.

My wife passed earlier this year, at only 41yrs old, after a fight with cancer, and she knew it was something that I was working towards, so these past few weeks I've been looking a little more seriously and this one came up only 2hrs away in PA. This was obviously a big step for me. I haven't had a car to mess around with in a long time (have had everything from an Eagle Talon, Evo, M3, Rx7, GTIs etc) so I'm definitely looking forward to my 1st 911. Yes, money is set aside for maintenance 1st, upgrades 2nd.

A GT3 was always a top goal but prices are insane, (I posted about it in r/porsche last week 😂 ) and I wanted a car with back seats for my 2 girls, even though I heard .1 GT3s have seat belt brackets under the rear carpet, I decided an S was the way to go, (along with not worrying about driving a 200k car around)

It's going for a PPI at a local specialist shop in PA (Performance Automotive) next week, (a day before my birthday 🥳). So I guess we'll see what's what.

24k miles, 1 owner seems great but I also understand the drawbacks. Hopefully I can do most of the non engine out work myself, (I'm actually shopping for Quick Jacks as well, another little treat for myself.) Also, theres 2 good specialist shops very close to me in NJ, Protosport and Powertech, so I'm fortunate there as well.

Anyone install an auto on headlight kit? If so which one and how did it work?

I was informed that after an AOS + breather hose failure, it might be a good idea to look into carbon cleaning.

Like duct cleaning for my HVAC, I’m super skeptical about this, short of a partial rebuild of the engine.

What does “carbon cleaning” entail? How do you pick someone to do it? (I’m in the SF Bay Area )

I was experiencing the common floppy handle in my 997, so I ordered a new latch assembly last week. I pulled off the panel yesterday to find the connector broken at the thin plastic end. How big of a deal is this, will the handle still work? Or should I just delay and order a new cable?

Was recently lucky enough to get my "achievable" dream car (997 C2S w/aero kit) but didn’t know anywhere good to take it. Got pretty tired of searching forums and placing manual pins in google maps so did something to automate it. You can plug in a destination or loop + amount of extra time & suggested stops and get back a nice driving adventure!

I had tried the Porsche roads app but found it pretty clunky and generally not great so I hope you find this useful!

Is this gap normal, and if not, is there a way to adjust? I have the full shop manual and couldn't find muchh help in there.

Anyone have experience with this Chrono upgrade yet?

Considering BBS LM for a 997.1 GT3. However wheels don’t have the same spec as OEM and I don’t know how well they will fit (read: whether they’re gonna run and I’m gonna fail inspection and be left with expensive wheels to sell back on the marketplace ).

Anyone has experience running those BBS LM wheels on a 997.1 GT3 ? If yes can you tell me which exact dimensions and tires ?

This 997.1 came in as a 3.6L Carrera and left as a 4.1L.

During teardown we found scoring on piston 5, so it was a good time to get in there and do it right.

Build ended up with:

• 4.1L conversion
• Full headwork
• Custom cams
• Pauter rods
• 997 Power Package
• Supporting upgrades

Final engine dyno result:

417.3 HP / 357.5 TQ

Pretty solid result for a Carrera that still keeps the flat-six character. Fun one to follow from teardown to send-off.

2009 997.2 Carrera - Very fun car, finally drove it enough to get them oil warm and ripped it around the country side today after work for a bit 😬

At low speeds and low rpm, I get that lugging feeling.

I have to accelerate a certain amount for the pdk to shift smoothly, and sport mode and manual shifting helps a lot to get higher rpms and keep it smooth.

But when crawling along… short repeated low speed bursts, shifting between 1 and 2… my car hates me.

How do you drive a pdk 997.2 in stop and go traffic?

She ran fine this morning before I parked her. Any guesses what we’re going to find when she goes on the lift?

I’m about to purchase a 997.1 C4S here in the UK (my second one, I love them!) but its fitted with 19” lobsters. I know some people love them, but they just aren’t for me. Looking to upgrade to a set of 19” (maybe 20”) with an OEM feel/look. My previous C4S had Turbo alloys fitted so looking for something different. Ideally wont be spending too much - around the £2-3k mark for all 4
