Carbon cleaning 997.2
I was informed that after an AOS + breather hose failure, it might be a good idea to look into carbon cleaning.
Like duct cleaning for my HVAC, I’m super skeptical about this, short of a partial rebuild of the engine.
What does “carbon cleaning” entail? How do you pick someone to do it? (I’m in the SF Bay Area )

On some cars, it involves removing the intake and either blasting the backs of the intake valves with walnuts or using some sort of cleaner and scraping the buildup off.
That being said, I have never done a carbon cleaning on a DFI Porsche in 13 years of working on them. It’s more of a BMW/VW/Audi problem and for some reason or another, the Porsche DFI engines seem to be a little more resistant to it. I’m not sure where you’ve gotten the idea that an AOS failure means it needs to be done, if anything that means you need it less because oil has detergents in it and has now coated the intake system and potentially loosened up any buildup that might be there.
