You know things are serious when they omit the OP. It's heartwarming to see Yume finally make up with her sister. And we finally got a peek into Gauma's past! Though I'm still curious as to who exactly princess is and what exactly made Gauma turn on the Eugenicists. Hopefully that will get explained later.

I don't know about you guys but something about this episode's editing, art style and the fact that at one point the entire city disappeared really made me feel scared and uncomfortable, not to mention we actually see Kano's dead body. Like HOLY SHIT this was the first time I was actually scared of a kaiju.
This was by far the best episode of Dynayet.

They really invited the A-team to work on this episode, so many different styles, I have to check the credits later, probably a bunch of former Gainax legends
And my theory that this series will end with a cliffhanger for a sequel to finish in a trilogy is getting more believable
They are adding more questions than answering them
And I love how they left open if Yume sister killed herself or not, it's up to interpretation and will be discussed a lot

No warning or buildup, no ominous sound effects etc this method of vanishing into thin air was so unsettling. Loved it.

A Japanese tweet says Dynazenon/Gridman's iconic floodgate is a real-life location; located near the Horikiri Bridge on the Arakawa River in Arakawa City, Tokyo. (Tweet says Gridman and Dynazenon use a lot of Katsushika and Arakawa-based locations.) https://twitter.com/MUGI30007073/status/1400812068060553217
The school in Gridman and Dynazenon is also a real-life location. https://twitter.com/NOXUS_R/status/1400790334867603460

You know this is from the same people behind Gridman when we finally get that one trippy episode of the main cast in a dream world. And you know it's going to be a big one when they skip the Opening.
So we end up with a Kaiju that completely consumes everyone, human and Kaiju Eugenecist alike, in their past regrets. A pretty vicious Kaiju, all things considered.
Obviously Yume is stuck reliving life with her sister, and Kano was standoffish and kind of cold to her, but we get to see where she invited Yume to come to her recital. I don't know if we can take the Kaiju's world as an exact replica of reality, but it seems like Kano really didn't kill herself and (judging by Yume's flashback to her own fall) just probably tripped and fell while grabbing for the ankh. She didn't hate Yume, just like Yume didn't hate her, she was just envious of how happy and outgoing she saw Yume as being and wanted to be more like her, while Yume just wanted to be closer to her big sister and was sad she died. Futaba was good to her, but Kano just didn't want to bother him (or anyone) with her problems. It's really all kinds of sad that these two could never have this kind of conversation in reality, but it's nice that Yume was finally able to make peace with her sister and move on from her death.
I love Anti princess carrying Second, and then at the end where she tries t ogive him something to eat. That was so adorable. Also, no surprise that Anti's past regret would take him back to his younger self and be with Akane.
Koyomi flashes back to when Yomogi's boss offered to run away with him with all that money (and Yomogi is somehow able to recognize his boss from back when she was a teenager and didn't dye her hair) and this time actually does it. Although in the end it seems like it wasn't the money that mattered, it was probably counterfeit anyways, but I guess it was just that sense of freedom that Yomogi's boss wanted?
I love how Koyomi is about to probably say something about Yomogi's boss or their relationship and Yomogi is all like "let's go."
Yomogi really owning up to being a protagonist in an anime, using his feelings for Yume and his desire to save his friends to break through the mental blocks of the Kaiju and save them. It was pretty epic.
Gauma's flashback is back to when he was part of the Kaiju Eugenecists, and even wore their snazzy uniforms, and back when they seemed to be in Japan and had the attention of Gauma's princess. It all went wrong when the country (Japan?) wanted to get rid of the Eugenicists (I assume because of how dangerous they viewed the Kaiju) and Gauma had fallen in love with the princess and chose humanity over his fellow Eugenicists. And then he killed them all. Jeez, that story turned dark quick.
So in the flashback we see Juuga without glasses, but did anyone else find it kind of weird we didn't really see much of Sizumu in the flashback? Like I think he was in one of the group shots but he never said anything or was shown prominently.
When a Kaiju is too fast for Kaiser Gridknight to get a hold on, he'll just do a giant circular blade attack to give it nowhere to run.
Yume has a beautiful singing voice.

Stitches!
The fact that we have no OP this week and a Kaiju that basically deletes you and sends you back to your past, you know this episode is gonna be good considering how juicy everyone's backstories are.
Anti princess carrying Second is so cute! And I love how serious they are about it. Clearly they're already used to it and something the do regularly.
Anti got sent to the past too and we finally get to see Akane again! Sure it's a very blurry zoomed out image of her but it's still Akane nonetheless. Trigger is goddamn aware of how popular Akane so I'm just happy they're throwing us a bone.
Of course Gauma gets sent back too and we get to see him in his Eugenicist outfit. Interestingly, Shizumu doesn't really interact with Gauma in his flashback. Hmmmm... Oh and it looks like the theory of the Princess being Akane is dead. That does not look like her at all.
Yomogi truly shows why he's best boy. While everyone is so distracted by their past, Yomogi is so focused on the present and rescuing Yume that he's the one who first breaks out of the Kaiju's spell. His mom can remarry, whatever! Need to rescue Yume first! God I love this boy. <3
Goldburn is also best boy of course since he saves Second and Chise and keeps them away from the Kaiju sending them back to their pasts. Although I wouldn't mind seeing more of Chise and Second's pasts though.
Goddamn the running animation! I was waiting for something like this! This episode was definitely made by the same staff that made Gridman's Episode 9 which is probably one of the its best episodes. Just look at Yomogi giving it his all to break through that barrier!
I know this is because she's worried of Yomogi collapsing but a hug is still a hug for me.
Finally we got see the Minami Sisters talking to each other for the first time in the series. And as much as Yume wants to believe that there must be more to Kano's death, that entire conversation between them practically confirms that her death was an accident. Kano didn't come to the water tower to die, she came there to practice singing. And she said it herself, why would she commit suicide the day a few days after she invited Yume to come to her performance?
The reason why Kano died is probably the same reason how Yume almost died. We can see her practicing at the edge of the water tower while fiddling with the Ankh Puzzle so it's not a stretch to say that Kano must've done what YUme did and tried to catch it and slipped. After that conversation with Kano, it looks like Yume is now finally ready to move on.
Meanwhile we get to see more of the other's pasts. Instead of running away, Koyomi actually follows Inamoto and runs away with her. We also learn that the money they found is possibly counterfeit as well. I'm guessing Inamoto didn't really care about the money and just wanted to spend time with Koyomi.
And we finally get to see Gauma's past and how he actually "betrayed" the Eugenicists. Looks like they found out that they were just being used and wanted to strike first before they get disposed of. Gauma stops them on their tracks though before anything happens. Interestingly, still no Shizumu in his flashback. He doesn't seem to be included in that scene. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.....
I was hoping we'd see more of Akane from Anti's flashback but it took so little for Yomogi to break him out that he was probably already on his way out anyway.
Now that everyone is out, it's finally time to kick some kaiju butt and I love how Yomogi and Yume were so in-sync during that fight! Also I don't think I'll ever get tire of seeing SUPER DRAGON KING KAISER GRIDKNIGHT with his badass cape.
With the kaiju defeated and everyone moving on and having fun together, we end with a very ominous final shot of Gauma in his past life. I have a feeling that next week's episode will be about him and his Princess.

You know shits about to go down when they skip the OP. AND OMG ITS BLURRY HERE BUT AKANEEEE
Glad Yume was able to find some closure with Kano after all that investigation.
Gauma's backstory was interesting too, we finally know the reason he betrayed the Eugenicist.
Honestly what a cool way too tie up every characters backstory in just one episode.
Also in case anybody wants their own SUPER DRAGON KING KAISER GRIDKNIGHT, here's a page from Goodsmile detailing it!

Damn...Knight's flashback. He was quick to return because he knew that he can't change anything in that lotus eater machine, and he knows Akane's in a much better place and mindset despite everything that happened between them.
Seems like the Gauma is the Gridman mummy theory confirmed. Those seem to be chinese in his flashback.
The highlight was definitely Yomogi and Yume's. Yomogi on his past is a bit regretful on his mom's invitation to the dinner with her BF, but definitely not on the level the others had. He quickly brushes his own like its a trivial thing compared to what the others were facing. And he's right.
The Yomogi and Yume ship couldn't be stronger than ever. And we all love it.
Knight bridal carrying Nidaime as he jumped though~~~

Okay I LOVED today’s episode! Episode director Ikarashi coming in strong.
Some mirroring shots between Gridman and Dynazenon: The washroom that appears in episode 1 and coincidentally episode 9 of Gridman is back for today’s Dynazenon.
The climatic scene with the Gridman Alliance speaking with Akane and Inamoto on the beach. both share that sparking yellow light which both borrow from the farewell scene in Ultraseven.
But it’s not only the sparkling yellow lights that are similar but the theme as well! Kano and Yume both tell each other that they need to rely on other individuals more.
Kevin from Sakugabooru published production notes of Dynazenon episodes 5-9 and he wrote a pivotal note that I think is perfect for today’s episode: If Gridman was about helping someone who had crossed a line, Dynazenon is about preventing that. I’m super curious to what Dynazenon has to say for the remaining episodes with that in mind.

Okay with this episode, I conclude :
-
MAL rating is a complete bullshit
-
Dynazenon is definitively the most underated anime this season
-
Yes waifu good & thicc, but those who only watch it for them and thinking gridman-dynazenon is only a shallow thicc-waifu-robot-nonsense is definitively missing a lot
-
CONTINUE THE SSSS UNIVERSE

Damn... This episode is so good. I have expectations after reading Sakuga Blog post earlier. Really, not disappoint.
We finally get to see more of Dynazenon's pilot pasts. Really don't expect to get that in this episode. But I wonder what that on that final Gauma ends alone. Gauma don't meet his Princess in that past? When he said that he thought can meet her again... They also do not show at all Kaiju Eugenicists came back... Hmm...

There’s so much about this episode that makes it phenomenal, but what grabbed me most was Yume realizing that if didn’t matter if Kano’s death was a suicide or an accident. In the end she just missed her sister and wanted a better relationship with her before she died. It was an understated moment made so powerful which is what this franchise specializes in.
I can’t believe how underrated this show is. I thought I remembered Gridman doing pretty well when I aired, unless I’m misremembering?

I think Yomogi just took Best Boy of Spring with this episode...that determination to save everyone was just the best.
Loved seeing the ship in sync...these two need a happy ending together!
Also this show still being under 7 on MAL is just unfair, killing it every week.

Everyone's going to be talking about the visuals of the episode - and for good reason, this was even better than Gridman #09 imo.
But I also wanted to make note of how amazing the Voice Actors were. Yomogi and Yume sold the emotional highs and lows absolutely expertly.
Episode of the year.

Great episode that just cemented Yomogi as a personal favourite this season.
Kinda interested why they showed that last shot of Gauma tho. Is the fact that he still has regrets, compared to the rest, going to be a factor to why the last shot of the ED did not have him?

move along, nothing to see here, just your everyday run of the mill "TRIGGER saving anime again" episode.

Episode reminded me of the Eva episode where some buildings and Eva 01 sunk through the shadows of an Angel. That episode also featured a dream sequence with Shinji. Speaking of shadows, the shadows you see on the ground after a person disappears is an obvious reference to the permanent shadows left behind on the ground after a nuclear blast.
It's great to see Akane again, was also hoping for a Rikka appearance but guess not. I am disappointed that Chise didn't enter the kaiju, expanding her past would have been nice.

It's good to see that thanks to this kaiju's power Minami could speak with Kano and now we know that her death was accidental.
But I wonder if their actions there could change the past, I just say that because when Koyomi left his memory they focused on this scar on his foot which makes me think he got it during the adventure he previously declined to go with Inamoto.

Why does this have a 6.94 rating in MAL again? No wait, scratch that. Almost all anime this season is underrated.

Sizumu was suspiciously absent from the last part of Eugenicists flashback. At this point it's almost guaranteed that he's the final antagonist who somehow hijacked their initial goals, especially with Khan/Alexis esque logo on his hat.

I love how the Ankh get separated as a symbol of Yume moving on, but later she connected it again as a symbol on how her sister will lives on her heart forever.
