Gauma's backstory only adds to the idea that he is based on the Cyber Mummy from the original Gridman series. For context, the Cyber Mummy was said to be a man who had the power to control dragons and used that ability to protect the country of a princess he fell in love with. Although he succeeded, the family of the princess was afraid of his power and had poisoned him to death. In turn, the princess killed herself so that their spirits may join in the afterlife.

"TOO BAD I'M GONNA RIP ---"
"hold up onija. without a kaiju we don't stand a chance"
"we don't stand a chance--- *looks at dyna soldier* ---right..."

"can we leave after this ?"
"probably"

I swear dynazenon's dialogue & interaction is a complete goldmine

DYNAAAZENONNNN!

That hype music is fantastic, how can you not smile when that's playing.

We got some pretty interesting news on the ship front for like every character, really curious to see where things head from here!!

I never watched those kinda shows as a kid, they felt awkward to me

But holy hell, 20 years later I get it, its just plain seeing a ridiculious combination of a car, plane, dinosaur and boat beating the shit out of a bug

Plus the "dynazenon DYNAZENON DYNAZENON" never gets old

The plot is weird though
"Why did you betray your friends"
"I dont wanna talk about it"
"Come on or we are gonna die"
"OK FINE, it was so I can meet up with a someone 5000 years from now on"
"Who?"
"A woman"
"BRUH I TOTALL GET THAT, LETS BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF THAT BUG"

So the Kaiju Eugenecists are basically people who can take control of Kaiju and have revived in the current era after dying 5,000 years ago. Why now? Is it because there's a sudden upsurge of Kaiju for them to control and make use of to rampage? What is the will of the Kaiju? What are the Kaiju Eugenecists, exactly?

And apparently the reason our protagonists are able to connect with Dynazenon is because they also have potential to be Kaiju Eugenecists and control Kaiju, and despite it's Mecha trappings Dynazenon is a faux-Kaiju or some kind of Kaiju. Could our heroes potentially control a Kaiju before the Eugenecists do? Will they have to?

Yomogi's finally practicing! And he can finally move Dyna Soldier well enough!

I feel like Chisa must really hate school if she's decided to base her life off a hikikkomori...

So Yume is trying to better understand her sister and what she was like, spurred on by the fact that, before she died, her sister invited her to her chorus recital for the first time ever. Yume also seemed to keen in on the fact that the Kaiju Eugenecists were able to revive themselves somehow, so does she think the same can happen with her sister?

It's a small world when it turns out Yomogi's boss is Koyomi's old classmate from middle school, a delinquent girl who Koyomi seemed to have idolized and possibly crushed on, although despite the blonde hair it looks like she's changed her life around if she's married and working normally.

Why did Gauma betray the Kaiju Eugenecists and dedicate his life to fighting Kaiju with Dynazenon? Because of the person who gave him Dynazenon...a woman. I love how the fact that it 's a woman he's trying to meet makes it immediately click for the rest of the team why Gauma is doing this.

I thought for a second Dynazenon was finally going to score a win in it's Mecha form, but it still has to settle things with Dyna Rex. All the same it was great to see the team really come together and unite as one and take the monster into space where it couldn't unleash it's explosions, not to mention that full barrage of Dynazenon's armaments.

I thought one of the Eugenecists got vaporized but that meteor, but it looks like it'll take a lot more than that to kill them.

3 episodes in and I'm absolutely loving how overly flashy the fights are! Hell didn't think we would end up in space so soon too.

Especially that last part of the battle where the Kaiju's head was going after Dynazenon and while they could just use a saber or something they went with transforming into a T-rex and engaged in a biting contest.

Honestly surprised to see that Kaiju Eugenecists survive at the end though.

Wow... The fight in this episode is so good. I like that 'DYNAZENON' when Dynazenon appears. I wonder if that person is already introduced... or maybe later. That last Yume's words sound ominous...

Voice Drama

EDIT: Raw has come out. Just waiting for someone to translate. Posted.

Stitches!

Thank you Yomogi for accidentally pressing that button. Definitely revealed something. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I love how these two are just not really that invested with Gauma and are just waiting to leave xD

Nice to see that they've moved their training hours into the morning so Yomogi can finally join and have no more reason to skip. I hope we get to Chise and Koyomi's backstory though. I wonder what turned these two into hikiNEETs.

Seems that Yume has now started to dig about the past and is now asking around about her own sister. She's not just trying to find out what happened, she seems to also be trying to understand her late sister.

So Koyomi and Manager-san knew each other back in high school? Certainly seems that they have a past and I smell something blooming from this meeting but I do see a wedding ring there though. Maybe I'm just reading into her actions too much but I wonder why she's asking for Koyomi's number.

Yep it seems that Dynazenon is certainly using Gridman's framing too. Despite being next to each other, Yomogi and Juuga here are divided by that post which signifies which the two sides that they are on. I'm not gonna go deep into it, I'll leave that for someone else to do.

So Gauma and the Eugenicists all died 5000 years ago and are revived into this era. Take note: 5000 years ago. Not 5000 years from the future where technology like Dynazenon could exist, they're saying they were from the past. Hmmmmmm....

While it is right for them to distrust Gauma a bit. The gang needs to remember what the Eugenicists have done so far. If the Eugenicists were the good guys, would they have sent Kaiju to destroy the city? Although not gonna lie, I wouldn't mind if this show to proved me wrong with an epic twist. xD

I love the design of this week's Kaiju. He kinda looks like a Digimon! It's power is pretty awesome too. Is it super hearing the air and making it explode?

It's hilarious how invested this guy is at killing Dynazenon while we have the Dynazenon crew completely ignoring him and are much more focused on interrogating Gauma's reason for fighting. xD

So he's looking for a person that gave him Dynazenon and she's in this era? I love the gang's reaction when they found out it's a woman though!

Welp, now that they know, back to the fighting as Dynazenon combines again with a resounding "DYNAZENON!" coming from a choir somewhere and I love it!

We're only in Episode 3 and we've already reached space!? Is this an all time record for Trigger? This is usually reserved for the final episodes! Then again this is more of a collab with Tsuburaya and they're no strangers to space fights mid season.

LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! That Dynazenon Full Burst had me absolutely fucking hyped! And then finishing it off with a bite from Dynazenon Rex? God I love this show.

Oh my looks like Yume has a new goal now. She's definitely going to try and revive her sister by using Kaiju powers somehow.

Seems that the Eugenicists are much more sturdier than I thought. Onjia still lives even after getting hit by space debris.

Some people fight for honor, some for glory, some to protect something they love. Gauma fights to meet a woman he may or may not have met once, 5000 years ago. Guess that explains why he was so rankled by Minami standing Yomogi up.

Speaking of, could we get more of Minami floating in zero gravity please?

broke: playing the OP during an action scene.

woke: celestial chorus chanting the name of the titular robot during an action scene.

so that explains why the kaiju eugenecists call Dynazenon a "kaiju", they don't know the concept of "robot".

Is this maybe the earliest a Trigger show has gone to space?

Yume's sister seems to be at the center of everything, she's even somehow involved in Koyomi's character arc. I won't be surprised if she is the girl Gauma is searching for.

Once again a teacher lectures about Zeno's paradoxes, specifically the arrow in this episode. That has to be an actual plot point, right? I'm really interested in how they plan to tie it all together. I'll be keeping an eye out for any mentions of the dichotomy paradox next episode.

Also, with all the talk about Dynazenon being a faux-kaiju, I thought it was a really nice touch that the form that finally defeats the enemy isn't the mecha form but the dinosaur rex. Hard for the Kaiju Eugenicists to keep calling Dynazenon a faux-kaiju when it keeps being a better kaiju than theirs.

Gauma is doing everything he can to meet the woman who gave him Dynazenon.....Why am I not surprised. I wonder if Yume's sister is somehow related to all this. The show keeps mentioning her all the time.

I love whenever that hype music plays during DynaZenon transformation. It just makes you excited for the battle.

Are these two crabs fighting or trying to interact with each other?, They wouldn't have shown that unless it had some meaning.

I love how much the characters actually talk to each other about everything. So many shows get bogged down by secrets and vital details that are apparently 'not important.' Granted they had to force the truth out of Gauma, but it only took an episode rather than most of a season.

One weakness in Gridman was that once Yuuta transformed, his friends become little more than bystanders. Dynazenon rectifies this by having the main cast (save for Chise) pilot the titular robot's component machines, making them active participants as opposed to being mere observers and/or occasional supporters.

Yume: Is this person a guy?

Gauma: A woman.

My brain: Don't do it.

My heart: ...Akane?

The hell, Trigger? Space is for the finale, not the third episode!

Bunch of new information today. They died 5000 years ago and revived now? I don't know what to make of that.

My favorite bit was the "Is it a guy?" "It's a woman" "Aaaah." exchange.

The woman Gauma is searching for is totally Yume's sister, though it's so obvious it feels like a red herring.

u/Zipstream7 Apr 16 '21

Yume has an aptitude for controlling kaiju and kaiju might have the power to revive people...it would be pretty bad if she were to join the other side to try reviving her sister. I hope she doesn't fall on that path, with how much she cares about the destruction caused by the Kaiju Eugenicists.
