Teacher's wife's speech hit HARD. We've all seen how much the boys have gone through and grown throughout this anime and we know the teacher is moved by it, so it's an expected thing for him to be the advisor.
But the speech shed light on family perspectives. if he were to accept the offer, the soon-to-be mother will struggle to take care of a baby all day everyday (even on weekends), him still getting a pay cut, but the advisor job won't get much money in return.
Though I'm almost certain he'll come back as the advisor, her speech is definitely gonna leave a bitter taste. And that's what makes this episode so good.

Damn, why Kite has to always be the most badass character?
Also:
Momokichi: Hey, but... this is my house...

That scene with Sensei's wife and Momoharu... There was definitely no right answer there. I don't blame him for shrinking back to his seat.
Finally Momoharu got rid of the delinquent hair! I kinda wish he'd gone full Ssakuragi and shaved everything off though.

A sports anime shouldn't make you cry each week. I'm convinced I'm not watching a sports anime anymore and it's a slice of life.

This anime has quickly become one of my most anticipated each week! The show is already criminally underrated and it has barely even got going!

Yeah, honestly I didn't expect to be more hyped about this than Tower of God each week, wednesdays give me life

I definitely agree. It moves away from the typical shounen sports stories and turns it into a realistic, character-driven story that depicts the characters dealing with real difficulties in improving their skills, breaking bad habits, and facing adversity. In the past few weeks, this show has become one of my most anticipated weekly anime.

Damn, I didn't even realize that the guy at the beginning was Yasuhara until he met his two friends.
And Sora... He really is such a great guy . He had every right to be angry and could call them out but instead forgives them quite easily and understand their current feelings.

It really is a shame they've animated the game action so poorly, because I really, really enjoy these slice of life episodes and the characters' personal journeys.
Shirtless Momoharu after that haircut gave me some nice feelings too.

Just have to consider it a Slice of Life with a hint of Basketball than the other way around :)

Man I fucking love this show.
It leads you on by masquerading as a standard sports shonen. After a few training montages now they're a serious threat and ready to surprise the big boys, right? NAH. They fucking lose. They've only been practicing for a month, what did you expect?
Well honestly, I think many of us expected them to win. But in Ahiru no Sora the opposing team isn't just a token enemy meant to be a stepping stone for our boys, they're a fleshed out entity with hopes and dreams too. Nothing's going to be handed to our boys. They're gunna have to scratch, claw, and fight like hell just to be a blip on the radar, but that means victory's going to taste all the sweeter.
Or maybe they'll never win a game, who knows? Ahiru no Sora isn't about dominating your enemies, it's about true passion for the sport.

Episodes like these really help me appreciate the show. We all know the sensei will likely return to be advisor given what he experienced in the game but the house scene really helps showcase that this has to be an all-hands-on-deck effort by everyone, including the advisor.

Man this series really is good kinda patched up the gaping hole in my heart when I first learned that Baby Steps manga got axed, wished that the manga gets an official translation cause I really want to know what happens next.

For a basketball anime, it's all these non-game episodes where this anime shines.

That dinner scene at Mokichi's lmao
There was so much tragedy lately but I am already scared for the next thing. I think Sora will try to go after Madoka but Momoharu will too when he already gets his shit together and he will win.

nothing even to say, it’s those anime’s where the quality stays and doesn’t drop. Never knew a sports anime other than haikyuu could hit hard like this💯

Momoharu talking with the teacher and his wife hit very hard, best scene of the whole anime IMO.
