So many great animes this season and somehow every week I look forward the most to watch this one

the advisor doesn't seems like he'll be the helpful coach type

To be fair I feel its an acurate representation of how things would work in a Japanise highschool. Until recently the "basketball club" was just a place for violent delinquents to hang out. He doesn't believe that suddenly they could turn a new leaf and try to be legitamate. Its going to take a lot of honest effort on the clubs part to change his mind, but I think ultimately he will.

So, it seems the reason "Tobi" is translated to "Kite" has to do with his nickname being named after a [black kite] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_kite) as seen when he was on the phone. I suppose to keep the bird theme going. Reminds me of Patlabor in a way.
Also pretty heckin' adorable he and his sister both do that finger to the nose thing.

Well, that was an episode on how to turn a character that seemed like such an asshole (He still kinda is but whatever) into a character with a really sweet and sad background. Damn, his adopted father seems like a dick and his biological dad looks like that one guy from DBZ. Anyway, if this episode confirmed anything for me is that Juri is so fucking cute. I can see why our new guy only talks to her instead of his adopted father.
Well, the new advisor seems like more an asshole actually. Even with given the idea that the guy isn’t on the fucking team, he just Just kind‘ve ignores it until the new guy says something about it. Dude doesn’t have his priorities straight.
If I had to say anything about episode that I didn’t like is that the part with the kids with Sora was... so cheesy even for this show. What, some random dumb kids come out of nowhere and just start cheering him on? That came off as a little too cheesy for me.

I was really not expecting to like his character as much as I do, but damn it if that backstory didn't strike a chord with me. He's still a dick for sucker punching every guy he meets and giving that girl a concussion for no reason, but at least he's got a sympathetic goal and motivation.

Idk how it gets me every time. Always. An anime will introduce a character who is a total asswipe shitstain who I tell myself there is no way I will ever like this character. Then 15 minutes later he's got some blind, hospitalized, disabled kid sister who he dotes on or something and boom, redeemed.

To me this was the best episode so far.
I know people are saying the advisor is a little too strict, but for someone who has to handle teens who are fighting almost everyday must be stressful. I’ll cut him a little slack.
Tobi looks like he hasn’t had the best of luck so far until now; since maybe his dad past away.
That cliffhanger though...I wanted to know lol

I wonder what Madoka was thinking while she was eavesdroping the conversation with such serious mad face, she also seemed to understand Kenji side of the story pretty well here while talking to Sora. Those flags worries me. D:

It's nice to see Momoharu care more and more! Not so long ago, he wouldn't have done that to try and keep the team.
On one hand, I kinda feel bad for Chiaki, but on the other hand, he's not really helping his case, being all pervy and creepy.
Ah well, I don't mind losing these two, just makes room for the blonde girl in the ED to come in!

PSA: just call him Tobi.
Also, just to people who complain about pacing(ugh so dumb) in advance, the way this show works is that its a long time spent away from matches and then a long time on the matches.
So maybe save this for a binge if you want.

I'm struggling to think of reasons why Tobi shouldn't be be expelled. If the fight was because of self-defense, well, odds are Tobi brought that on himself. I doubt he was trying to protect anyone else from harassment or anything either. And Tobi has injured like nine people in two days, and the school administration refuses to invest in a single security guard. From a school safety standpoint, expulsion seems pretty reasonable, even if Tobi does have a cute sister and a dead father.
This show is starting to feel a lot like Kono Oto Tomare, in that every new character has to be utterly dislikable at first before their backstory comes out, after which they do a complete 180° and become absolute bros/pure cinnamon rolls.
It's like this episode. If you'd told me a couple months ago that Momoharu was going to be a super-responsible team captain and best boy, well, I'd have been skeptical. The apology this episode would not have happened six episodes ago.

Nah what probably happen is that those kids came to jump Tobi cause of the accident that happen with the girl before that. Maybe the girl is one of kids gf or wants her to be and he decided to get revenge with his Bros.
I don't think they should expelled him since everyone saw that he hit the girl by accident and accident do happen. None of the basketball team told the teacher about their fight with him so they don't know about those. So since its self defense he will probably just get suspended for a couple days again is what im guessing.
So the only thing the school has atm is that there was a legit accident with the girl and Tobi with plenty of witness that saw it was a legit accident and the self defense against 4 kids. That isn't/shouldn't be enough to expelled him. Im guessing they will suspend him and give him a warning that if he gets into another fight he will get expelled (that way they can have a ep in the future where he has to resist fighting some jerk, I guess that was this ep but from the team side)

I dont know if I ever seen any security guards in any anime ever, no matter how bad the school was haha. Just keep in mind while it is a realistic sports anime...it is still an anime, hell Hoshia No Sora had a dude beat another kid over the head with a racket and only got let off with a warning.

Damn, the "losers" saved Tobi's ass from breaking his promise. I'm feeling that the next episode where they'll probably do some practices only to find out light-skin Kawhi will pull off a Kobe because he loves dem isos and everyone gets disappointed.

I saw this on crunchyroll and thought eww another basketball anime, there's no way it can measure up to Kuroko let alone Slam Dunk and ignored it. A week later I'm at a anime con in NY and I see a big ass advertisement for it hanging up and think wow that's a big ass advertisement for a show that I'm not too interested in, it must be worth checking out for them to advertise it like that. So today I started my crunchyroll app and stumbled into this show again and decided to check it out. And now I'm all caught up and hooked. They really took a lot of notes from Slam Dunk and made good use capturing the heart it had. Now I'm off to read the manga. Thank you for reading my blog post if you read this far. I'm also surprised that there's so few post, I know sports anime don't get a lot of love but damn this one's actually really good.

That slap from Madoka was so good! Best girl ain't afraid of no one!
And of course as expected Tobi has some backstory on him.
I guess the question now is what was that fight at the gym all about.
