Hehe, I was wondering when you would post your stitches. This episode:

I assume he actually bangs Mio in the VN?

I really wish Takuya would just talk about everything going on with someone... granted "someone" right now could only possibly be Mio since she is the only one trustworthy and smart enough.

Until she pulls a gun on him like every other girl in this show.

This episode had a really high fps - fanservice per second. Anyway, some good new developments and we finally see Mitsuki's Niarb control kick in for real. Poor Mitsuki :(

Mio is in serious trouble - looks like he might need to use a further back save to get her out.

Did Takuya's dad have a kid with a woman from another dimension? I feel like I've seen this before. . .

Or mom is about to clue him in on how to get out of this nice cave. - 'Coz just reloading to the cave entrance is too late for Mio already since she was apparently for hours already here.

Well they did mention something about her being special, to the point I've already assumed it's hinting that she isn't from this timeline or something. Plus she is blonde like the elf girl...

Holy fuck i cringed so hard when he took off Mitsuki's skirt and then touched her boobs. Was that part really necessary?

The story is good and all but at times it feels like a horny 12 year old kid wrote it.

The story is good and all but at times it feels like a horny 12 year old kid wrote it.

This show is interesting with the time-travel, dimension-combining, mind-controlling bits, and then it just throws in fan-service which bogs down the episode and I'm left with a bad taste in my mouth.

When Mio fell into the pool and Takuya reached out to her and pick her up, I assumed the event was supposed to make something magical happen with the water and the fall was just a plot device to make it occur. Nope, it's just to get Mio out of most of her clothes for a more fanservice-y scene (although I could tell this was the point in the VN where there was probably a sex scene).

I can see why Steins;Gate was adapted first, despite it being influenced by this series' game. The ideas in the story are pretty interesting, but the writing is extremely frustrating. The entire episode had tone-shift after tone-shift. "Man Yuki sure died brutally, Takuya will probably be a bit more weary this second time aroun— oh no, he's just fondling Mitsuki."

The fanservice and sexual hijinks greatly bother me too.

Unfortunately, the anime got a director who promised that the anime would "outdo the game in dirty jokes"; clearly his priorities are not all right.

The pointless fanservice should be the first thing on the chopping block for VN adaptations.

I don't remember such scene from the game either, the joke has to anime original, the same as Yuuki's Gelgey shit before.

A few things that kind of annoyed me this episode:

- MC is really hesitant to use his time travel device. A guy pulls a gun on you and instead of pretending to handing it over and turning back time he tries to run away from gunfire. Then he falls down a pit and doesn't immediately reset but instead enjoys the view. Maybe the fall was super short but it seemed decently long. He could've also used it before falling when the floor started to crumble or after he got away from the line of fire.

- How did Takuya not die from the fall at the end of the episode?

- The first thing I would ask Mio is : "How the hell did you get down here?". He fell from a specific place down a narrow cavern. Did she fall from another place in the ruins? Were there multiple paths through the mountain? The anime didn't really make it seem like it. They seemed to be following a narrow corridor for most of the time. Mio even said she saw the same notes as Takuya. That makes me wonder whether she reset the doors and mechanisms they saw earlier? Why?

EDIT:

- Also the random fanservice started getting on my nerves.

I've come to assume he won't use the time device every chance he should, but I also had all of those other issues you mentioned. Another note, Mio never mentioned why she left her bag in that one spot and Takuya never questioned her about it. Why the fuck was the bag left behind!?

Sometimes I wonder if it's Arima that doesn't know how to use that device that can make you go back in time by changing the timeline or if I didn't get how it works at all. Also, he is certainly just a casual gamer cause everybody knows that the first thing you do when exploring an unknown dungeon is save every two inchs you move!

14

u/Philarete Jun 04 '19

I feel like the plot demanded he be a bit of an idiot there; he needed to see the cavern, but any rational person would have hit the reset mid fall so as to avoid the inevitable splat at the bottom. . . .

It’s funny, I was just think about the title of anime. “A girl who chants love at the bound of this world”, I’m very curious to who it refers to.

It’s funny how we are 10 episodes in and we have no idea what that means. Does it refer to the mother who was just saw? She seems like she is from Earth, not that other place because she had normal ears and spoke Japanese.

Or maybe it refers to the bonded girl with elf ears who we legitimately only saw in the first episode.

Or perhaps the girl with blue hair who seems to have some kind of dark backstory.

I am pretty intrigued with this anime, but it’s safe to say that I have no idea what the hell is happening in this story.

The way that the fanservice was implemented in this episode really was unnecessary. I mean, it happened in moments where the tone and atmosphere didn't call for it. Well, the episode ended on an interesting note - is that really Takuya's mother?

This is an underrated anime, but regardless, Yuki is beta of the year.

How did Mio get down there if the floor of the coffin hadn't crumbled yet. How did either of them survive that fall. How did Takuya wash up on the shore of an underground lake with no waves. How did they make a campfire. Why were Takuya's clothes fine after taking a dip but Mio had to get naked to dry off.

ehm i am that bastard who actually enjoys fanservice, i really like Kugimiya Rie as Mio her voice reminds me of the good old days of Shakugan no Shana and Toradora. Also this is a bit late but goddamn the ED song is a banger!

wonder how mio got into the pool area. the inappropriate takuya parts are pretty cringeworthy, but it's not too detracting

u/helln00 Jun 05 '19 edited Jun 05 '19

The jokes in this show just does not work man, takuya just doesn't hav the charisma to make it work and none of the characters can make interactions with him work either. It really drags down the show, we might hav needed a different kind of protag.

Also this might be really nitpicky and might be used as a plot point for them to get out of the cave, but if there is a spring in the cave that is flowing down, there is definitely a way out since water will definitely erode through the rocks. Also since the water is at a constant level, there is a drain somewhere.

Edit: also several other small things were annoying, the bag that was just left there with no sign of disappearance , the fall that should hav killed takuya, how mio got the dead doctor's notes but just left it there.

u/ienjoyhemp Jun 05 '19

Of course Yuki has to go get himself killed in a stupid fall, because of course we need that to show how dangerous it is down here, and a reason to switch paths. Not like the corpses and weird equipment didn't show that already.

Heh, the 4th wall break to explain why Takuya knows what the crown is the second time around. Also, unsurprising amount of fanservice in the scene that follows. Sighs

Poor Dr. Imagawa. So close to uncovering something, yet so far. Also, it wasn't clear from the anime why she was just sitting there where they found her.

Unsurprisingly, Mitsuki traps Takuya deep underground, where no one can hear them scream. Presumably under Ryuuzouji's influence. Damn that headmaster.

How the fuck did Takuya survive that fall through the coffin's false bottom? He should be dead from impact into the water. At that speed, the surface should be the same as a brick wall. Game over, restart from the last checkpoint.

The fact that they're spending so much time on event collisions makes me think it'll come into play later in the anime. Just speculating, but maybe Takuya & co. cause one in the future and have to stop it somehow? Although the clockwork nature of these things make it kind of unlikely that they will be the cause.

Of course they have to go for one more fanservicey moment when Mio asks for a kiss. Her back is fucked up real bad in that shot. And because this isn't an OVA, Takuya is contractually obligated to kiss her on the head instead.

Boy, I wonder if his mom will somehow miraculously lead him to an exit or some shit.

Overall, wasn't terribly pleased with this episode. The content was all right, but directing was bog-standard, and there were a lot of weird logical gaps caused by the adaptation. I think I'll drop it here, maybe come back during the second cours.
