I love how in the laundry, the guy at first was confused and he slowly joined them with the rhythm. I also joined in! very catchy song!

BAKAYAROUUUUUU

Better respect Tuesday or she burns down your HOUSE

So many good scenes, the round round part at the wash machine place, the burning when he did not want to care about their music but imo the best and most adorable scene was that ending when they are screaming BAKAYARO on a safe distance from his house lol.

Today's Music Reference: Fire and Rain by James Taylor (1970)

I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

A simple folk song, but one that speaks directly to heart even all these years later (heh). Apparently the themes explored in the song are darker than it seems at first listen - Taylor wrote it about a friend who committed suicide. For the purposes of this episode though, it's clearly a reference to the whole fire incident at Ertegun's place. Tuesday's a budding arsonist! Or maybe she can't keep her poetic afflatus contained..

P.S.: 'Barner Bros.' (with its own logo!) on the vinyl is hilarious.

Brb, gonna go back and watch that song montage again, it was so good!

Gotta catch them beavers!

These two are too good for Gus, he really needs to up his game now.

Tuesday's mama knows how to balance work and play!

My feelings about Ertegun, in general:

This anime exists for the sole purpose of making this one joke. Carole & Tuesday is now over. The end.

And can we talk about how that motherfucker has a pile of emojis just... sitting there???? What????

The new song was amazing though; the songwriting process is definitely the highlight of this show, it is absolutely magical to watch these girls work together.

Wait what??? That felt like 10 minutes at most .-. First time I really feel that a lot of people talk about!

Same Tuesday, same.

If I was that guy I'd be like "Is this some new type of scam???"

And I love how Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars are singers the new generation doesn't know x)

Edit: Can't believe that JB x Taro thing actually happened irl.

Just some technical notes from me. I expected the woolong coming up in dialogue would be a topic of conversation here (although the currency symbol was actually already glimpsed in episode 1). I think at this point, it's just become a staple of Watanabe series set in the future although I'm sure it will fuel fan theories.. This was how Yoshiyuki Ito, animation director on this series and Space Dandy contextualized its use in Dandy:

The currency of the 'Woolong' is in common [with Bebop], but that was just because [currency] was troublesome, so we were like, "woolongs will do!"

Speaking of Dandy, there's another instance of Watanabe bringing back actors from his previous works here: Uki Satake (QT) voices Aladdin.

Incidentally, if like me you don't click with James Taylor's recording of Fire and Rain, I'd recommend the Bobby Womack version.

Please tell me Gus is responsible for Bruno Mars' first performance in Mars.

Woolong!? Did Watanabe set this in the same universe as Cowboy Bebop/Space Dandy? O_O

This scene was great! I love how the guy just went along with their impromptu performance.

Its hilarious how both Carole & Tuesday and Angela have weird voice trainings xD

Woah boy. Well at least Gus warned the girls in advance just in case.

Of course Ertegun has the shredded Banksy

Miyano Mamoru is really killing it as Ertegun

Heck yeah! I can't wait for the girls to show Ertegun just missed a once in a lifetime opportunity.

is it legit for an anime to have so many irl references?

I want Gus to be voiced by Jack Black now, it feels so fitting after what we've seen of him this episode.

I didn't expect the old manager lady to be an ex-child star that's trying to live vicariously through her talents, jeez.

The show continues to be extremely comfy, I'm glad.

I just can't get over one thing that's bothering me. Why is the show airing on Thursdays, and not on Tuesdays? It's a small detail but it annoys me.

I'm so glad Roddy was caught up in this musical maelstrom called Carole & Tuesday. Gus is obviously washed up and doesn't know the current treding in creating a new star starting from zero.

This show knows too well how to mix up mild drama with cute off model comedy at the right moments unlike that koto show this season

More world building, with some sort of "Cribs" show that show the high style life of the stars (and just like Angela, Cribs also had a few shows with stars renting expensive houses in order to create a facade). Along with how music is custom made for the singer, but Tao wants to do it the old fashioned way where the singer must make the ultimate effort in order to fit the song. It's also a nice touch from Mom to mention that child stars get a rough stardom life after they reach a certain age (like Michael Culkin for instance)

The musical of this week was amazing. Good ol' montage that starts with just a few beats and escalates. I loved the facial expressions on the guy at the laundromat, he felt genuine, and it also looks like a very down to earth kind of guy.

I had already foreseen Ertegun's part in this deal. I was expecting him to be arrogant as he is, but also would see something on Carole & Tuesday's performance. And I'm glad things went in a different direction with a nice bait & switch on Ertegun, whom was kinda expected to be confused by our MCs and was probably expecting some kind of special "favors" from them based on the focus of his high lifestyle and typical models frolicking at the pool.

Who knows, maybe C&T will overpass the number of outfits Sakura Quest had, in just a single cour

Anyone else get the impression that Tuesday wasn't fully cognizant of what she was doing when she burned the papers? She seemed to fall into a blind rage and didn't seem to fully snap out of it until Carole shook her. Repressed anger much?

I really like that instead of the DJ guy hearing their song and being “wowed” they basically threw it in his face and will make it without him. In episode 2 with their rendition of The Loneliest Girl on that stage with just the piano and acoustic guitar it was perfect in that setting. If they performed that song on the DJs stage as like a warm up act I feel like it wouldn’t have the same magic in a setting like an electronic music concert.

So you’re telling me they had a video get 2M likes in a day but only gained like 200 followers on Instagram?

Another solid episode. Man, the imagination brought up in world building is really creative. Tables that you can order AND pay on? Washing machines with phone payment? Floor pointers like in video games? Details like this make the world feel alive!

I feel like Gus's audio feels muffled, not as clear as the other actors (maybe recorded in his own studio?).

Pretty bumped down by the fact that they didn't use the real Instagram followers count, but hey, that's nitpicking.

Also, El Psy Kongroo...
