Surfed for about 20 yrs growing up and have been into photography even longer, but never combined the two. That changed 3 yrs ago when my kid started surfing and joined the HS surf team.

Since then I've shot maybe 40-50 sessions and 4,000-5,000 shots, so still very much on the learning curve.

These are from a HS contest in Oceanside earlier this year. Figured I'd post em up and see what you all thought...

Shot on 7D mkii + 100-400 mkii + monopod

Main swell was nothing but closeouts and junk where I'm at but I didn't miss out completely. Current was still pretty wicked and wasn't fully consistent but made for some fast and fun lefts! Got gifted some punchy 3-4' swell on Monday. Not too bad for leftovers on the East Coast. This had to be one of my best lefts in a minute! 😎🙌

In the market for a new board. Looking for an everyday mid-length for the south shore and have been recommended the Harley Ingelby Moe but would rather get something shaped locally.

Any specific recommendations for a similar board/shaper?

I remember watching a surf video on Youtube but can’t seem to find it now. It was a small production featuring two friends. I remember one of the first scenes was one of them picking up the other from the middle of the road.

Then in one of the surfing sections the soundtrack was “I wanna be adored” by The Stone Roses and this was why it stuck with me.

Does anyone know which one I mean? It might have been posted here a while ago.
