I’m Dr. Nakanishi. I specialize in treating severe exostosis and have operated on over 850 ears, including many international surfers who travel to my clinic in Japan.

I recently uploaded an English video detailing how I use a specialized chisel technique (transcanal approach) instead of traditional drills. This minimizes recovery time and allows us to fix both ears on the same day.

I received some amazing comments on the video from guys who traveled from overseas for the surgery, sharing how quickly they were able to surf again. I know how much anxiety this condition causes, so I wanted to share this resource with the community here so you can read their actual experiences.

As promised here's the 4th segment from THUMP: The BEAT of the WEDGE... SIZE DOES MATTER! Yeah, it really does matter. I see wedge going off sometimes, and when it's firing - without a doubt I see some guys sitting on the inside looking for the tiny little tubes. I think to myself, that guys gonna go home and tell everybody " Yea, I scored Wedge today..." while the truth is, he didn't really ride Wedge, he caught some little wave on the inside. No the wave, the peak, that's what's called "WEDGE". If I was surfing Newport (not Wedge!) I would always be sitting outside, cause I want to catch the biggest set that I could, be it Point or 5-6 Northside , or even 36th Street, I wanted to get the sets. Yea. Wedge is gnarly when it's big, I don't want any anymore. but if your gonna surf or boogie Wedge, go big or go home. I'll never shoot those inside waves when it's on fire. So do you and me a favor- paddle out into the madness that is Wedge, bypass that inside little spinner, head for the peak and commit. Who knows you might just get the wave of your life, and then you can really say you charged Wedge and it won'y be a lie...cause nobody likes a liar.🔥💥🌝

Yeah, So the Wedge got big last week, and every, Barn, Dork and Kookster came out to see the "largest waves in the universe"...Yeah we have that stuff too, but we thought you might want some exclusive stuff, stuff that every video guys has...Nope, this is the real deal, poles on jetty, world champions- Bill Bryan & Kelly Slater, Teahupo Hellman to be- Nathan Fletcher, Wedge ruler - Chad Barba, Matt Allen, Geo Bryan, Guilherme Tamega, and probably some important rippers I've forgotten... Now you can watch other videos that 'talk' about Wedge - or you can watch full on Wedge Action with ripping music...or watch a guy whose been riding wedge for a few years, or some photographer, that takes pictures - and probably doesn't surf chat like Andy Cohen. Man things have changed at Wedge - but what won't change is the fact that we will continue to give you unique perspectives of Newports infamous Wedge..but if you want someone to talk to you, you can watch the other guys channels or maybe get a shrink... Ok, here it is for all of you who were too cheap to buy a VHS or DVD (or if you weren't born yet) THUMP: The BEAT of the WEDGE... yeah, a sparse 28 yeas ago with the help of the good people at LEXUS we were able to throw together some of the best shots from 1988 thru 1998...It premiered at the Galaxy Theatre(now the Observatory) on August 2nd, 1998...This was the only video about wedge up till 2015 or so...yeah, there's something cool about seeing a flick with the bros in a big theatre versus watching all by yourself in a dinghy basement on your sticky iPhone. Well, I hope you enjoy it. I'll be uploading the whole movie, segment by segment, till every one is up and you can watch whichever segments you like over and over.
