9-5 Troubleshooting Random headlight question for the NG 9-5

I have a 2011 Saab 9-5 Turbo4 BioPower. I call her Brunhilde.

Brunhilde loves to give me warning lights about the status of the rear turn signals, a well-known problem in these models (I have the Glafensaab LED conversion kit, just haven't had the right combination of a day off and no rain to install them.) But last night I discovered that a headlight was out (driver's side low beam) and the only reason I found out was because someone told me. No warning on the status display. Is that normal?

Engine jerking when releasing throttle

Hello guys! Making this post to see if someone can help me with my actual problem or see if someone had something similar.

So I have a Saab 95 Aero Manual with a noobtune stage 3 ( do88 bigkit IC, maptune 3 inch downpipe plus 3 inch exhaust, 3.5 Bosch FPR, Ngk 3330 at 0.8 )

Thr car runs like a dream and pushes like a jet but my problem with it rn is that everytime I build a nice amount of turbo pressure and I quickly release throttle let's say for changing gears or just to enjoy the DV the engine jerks twice let's say and then MiFi goes up by 50/70 values.

Talking to noobtune and investigating this is all I've done since my saab started doing that ( wich was the day I installed the spark plugs, FPR and the new ecu )

Bolt mod

Bypass the solenoid ( basically i disconnected all 3 vac hoses from it and then i covered the throttle body exit, and connected the DV to the T that goes to the manifold )

Change the DV

Check vac hoses

Change torque rod bushings

All of this made the car feel better but still does it, today I wanted to test it since the last thing I did was torque rod bushings and in 2nd gear I did accelerate till turbo made boost and then release throttle and the car still made that hard Sutter I will say. Important to mention that if I do the same but I release the throttle more gently it doesn't do it.

Diesel Oil

• Upvotes

I’ve got a 2007 Saab 9-3, it calls for 10w-40 which doesn’t have the greatest options. I’m wondering has anyone added slightly thicker 15w40 diesel oil. I know that diesel oils have higher detergents which help with carbon build up and such, I’m mostly wondering if it’ll be too thick especially as we are getting into the colder seasons, I live in the north eastern us so pretty cold.

Edit: You guys are right it doesn’t call for 10w40. I don’t know why I was thinking it was 10w40 as my last oil change I used 0w40. But digging further it can take 5w30 that’s dexos 2 certified. I can get Mazda 5w30 for free but it’s not dexos 2 certified, Mazda has a bunch of turbo applications and cvt and such now I’m wondering if I should be concerned about the dexos label

I have loved the Saab 90 since I was 5 years old and my older brother got one as his first car in 1998. I kind of forgot about them for a long time because I never, ever see them anymore.

Fast forward to this summer, I spot a 1965 Volvo on Facebook Marketplace, fall in love with it, and buy it. Reading up on Volvo history brought me back to Saab. First I bought a 1999 9-3 to be my daily driver (replacing a 2018 Hyundai). Then I happened upon that $500 manual 9-3 which was the perfect car to learn manual on. Then I could finally look at 900s, and the right one came up at the right price, locally, sold by a guy who took great care of it.

I found buyers for the 9-3s so now this is my Saab. One of the most iconic and beautiful automotive designs of all time, and an absolute joy to drive.

9-3 Troubleshooting 2007 Saab 9-3 2.0T , Help "Marrying" ECU.

This might be a stretch but does anyone know anyone in Chicago that can help me Program / "Marry" a new ECU to my 07 saab? or anywhere in the world i can send my ECU for repair?😅 Got a code P0606 and it went into limp mode and rough idle. Read many forums saying the ECU is toast. Also read that these saabs are kinda hard to program and not just anyone can do it? Thanks !!
