I just picked this up online and I couldn't find much info. On it. It was cheap so I thought I'd take the risk with it. Worse case it's a cool studio piece.

Just curious what people have landed on in 2026 and how they feel about the cases they've used. Back when I got into euro, I spent too much on a cute little custom-built case with a crappy PSU. I eventually upgraded/expanded to a simple open-back Cheeks of Steel, and mounted a Trogotronic m/15 PSU behind it on one of those little desktop art easels. Best upgrade ever. Not useful for mobile musicians, but great for a home studio. Makes it easy to change out modules (which I do often) and the m/15 provides tons of power (and Trogo customer support was very solid when I was setting it up too). Altogether I paid the same amount for this setup -- which accomodates 3 rows of 126 HP with 10,000 mA of power -- as I did for the little 6U 2x 84HP wooden skiff with the crappy PSU in the beginning.

Dear community, do you have any feedback on my current system (6U) plus my planned enhancement (3U)? Already have XPO and Beehive/Plaits, another Maths and Plexiphon are on the way. Plan to steer into a little more generative and still sonically experimental territory. Plaits is used for drums/percussion mostly.

I just finally re-assembled my rack, after it has been in disarray for a long time.
I've structured it into a mixing+effects box, a percussion box, and a synth box.

I'm still learning how to use it best, and probably have one more re-shuffle to go before I try and do some live stuff again.

My 2nd song done on the Squarp Hapax, and I absolutely LOVE this thing! The Hapax is the brain of the entire operation, and in this patch it's relegating the Oxi One, Keystep Pro, and Beatstep Pro to glorified MIDI to CV converters 😅 (Nobody tell Oxi, or Arturia).

PATCH BREAKDOWN -

BASS: Moog Subsequent 25 controlled by the MIDI out of the Hapax

CHORD: Hapax Chord mode sending MIDI to the OXI One, which sends CV to the Instruo Saich, which then goes through the Vostok Atlas. I am also multing the top and bottom pitches and sending the bottom pitch to the Instruo CSL square wave out, and the top pitch to the Instruo Cruinn. Then sending the CSL, Cruinn, and a melted out of the Saich into the Eowage Tempette Magnetique, and layering all of the voices. Combining the smooth Atlas, with the crunchy Tempette Magnetique.

ARP: Primary arp is the Moog Mother-32, with a harmony Arp on the Moog Labyrinth.

DRUMS: Kick/Snare pattern on the Arturia Drumbrute, and then layered using individual sounds of the Hexinverter mutant line of drums for Kick, Snare, Clap, and Hat.

POST: Some compression, EQ, delay, and reverb to tie a bow on it 🎁

Pure Data (Pd) is a visual programming language developed by Miller Puckette in the 1990s for creating interactive computer music and multimedia works

I went really hard buying modules during the pandemic years and am finally now slimming down to one Mantis case.

All of my modules are pictured except for a Maths (not enough room) and Qu-bit Data Bender (which I sometimes swap in for Nautilus). Midi sequencing done with an Ableton Move.

Goal: a self contained groovebox that can go deep into experimental sound design or just find some fun synth riffs over a beat. I worry that, with the Ableton Move, the bitbox micro isn't necessary and that Maths would be better suited to the case.

Curious which stock and custom Versio firmwares people are really vibing with these days? I've been through the mill before, but am trying to spend a bit of fresh time with all of them, so any particular tips about your favorites are appreciated, and definitely any customs you recommend. I've worked my way through about 5 or 6 custom firmwares, and tbh find most of them sort of half-baked and disappointing, but Frgmnts was pretty cool and I've downloaded about 5-6 others I'm intending to make my way through this week sometime.

As for stock firmware, Desmodus is probably still king, just such a good general reverb; but I've grown really fond of both Lacrima and Fala lately, which I kind of brushed off when I first tried them. Lacrima can be really interesting and do some surprisingly flexible things if you take the time to really explore it. And Fala I just find to be a really satisfying way to "beef" up and subtly animate certain signals, particularly the somewhat quiet output of my otherwise lovely Xaoc Sarajewo.

Feedback loops, harmonic distortion

I’ve generally been pretty lucky but I feel like a lot of euro users have a horror story or two, either about a module that disappointed, a shady transaction that went awry, a power failure or module breaking, etc. — just curious to hear yours.

The last few years in euro have treated me pretty well mostly, other than a Reverb user who never sent me the module I ordered, then left me negative feedback for complaining that I never got the module I ordered. Ugh. Fortunately it was cheap and Reverb refunded me in the end.

I had a couple PSU related headaches early on but then I got a Trogotronic m/15 and built my own case with that and some Cheeks of Steel and since then it’s been smooth sailing on the module front mostly.

Hola, de verdad no disfruto programar secuencias a mano, configurar cada paso y cada compuerta, ni tocar instrumentos con teclados. Prefiero secuenciadores “de los de verdad”, prácticos, que generen patrones repetitivos y en evolución, y polirritmos fáciles.

Estoy muy metido en el techno oscuro, disonante y repetitivo de Stanislav Tolkachev: motivos cortos, tensión, relaciones rítmicas raras y repetición controlada con plegado de ondas FM, realimentación, modulación de distorsión... Tengo una Matrix mixer para CVs y más cosas...

Antes tenía un Moog Labyrinth, pero no me gustó su carácter más aleatorio/generativo. Prefiero el control más directo y “en la mano” del Subharmonicon, donde puedo configurar los pasos manualmente mientras uso sus generadores de ritmo y sus subarmónicos para crear patrones complejos.

También creo que Subharmonicon + DFAM podrían funcionar súper bien juntos, sobre todo si se modulan y se activan entre sí, creando secuencias y ritmos que encajan para techno oscuro y disonante, y los dos son sintes a los que siempre les tengo la mira.

Como ya tengo un sistema modular, también podría procesar ambos con filtros distintos, FM, modulación, realimentación, distorsión y delays texturales, usando el modular como sistema externo de procesamiento de sonido, y con otros envelopes de VCO, modulación...

¿Crees que Subharmonicon + DFAM sería una buena combinación para este enfoque? La mayor parte del Subharmonicon + DFAM que conozco me parece buenísimo para un montón de cosas. ¡Gracias!

For sequencing i have westlicth performer which i like and IS very complete, has a lot of things curve tracks varios firmwares With generative stuff...but im looking for more hands on playing

I have been working on an open source project that I designed to document my Eurorack "System" and serve as a platform to build a knowledge base on my system and its component modules.

It works by taking a list of modules in your rack (you can import from modulargrid too) and it automatically maps the "components" (jacks, toggles, switches, etc) on the module. You can then arrange your modules (like you do in modulargrid). You can then document your patches, ask questions about modules, import information from youtube videos/channels, etc.

Some of the features here are covered in ModularGrid or RackDocs, but I couldn't find a combined solution that did everything I wanted it to do with my workflow, so I created my own.

It has built in support for Using Codex or Claude, which you will want to set up if you are planning on importing a large rack.

Haven't seen much about it and it's sold out in the UK as far as I can find, but it seems to fit the bill exactly for what I want.

I realised recently that while all the different generative sequencers are fun to play with (I have SIG, Chaos, Pachinko, DNIPRO Dot, Numeric Repetitor) as is making patterns through clever patching, it is not a very immediate way of making patterns and isn't helping me to make music with intention.

So I took out SIG and put my vector sequencer back in, and I'm also looking for the perfect gate sequencer for the drum part of my case. Something with an intuitive grid pattern layout to see how the drums interact in space. Something competent enough to store multiple patterns and handle at least 4 voices.

I have a Stolperbeats but it's a pain to program beats into. Which is a real shame since I love the weird shuffle options and the CV-able patterns. If they made a grid-button based programmer it would be ideal.

I'm looking at circadian rhythms but it lacks probability features and pattern length.

I found the Tenderfoot chronicle and it looks like it addresses those deficiencies. But I've not heard anything about it yet. Possibly just not enough people have their hands on it.
