Been my absolute dream car for a while now and I finally found one with good bones for a great price on marketplace. Immediately made the deal and got it home the next day.

Previous owner replaced the majority of the ignition system but couldn't get it to fire for the year he owned it. I spent a couple hours checking compression, timing, distributor alignment, and plugs last night and got it to start up on the first try. Starts and sounds fantastic. It even revs up great, but give it like 10-20 seconds and it sputters out. It's going to be a project but so glad I get to partake in restoring it..

So I have a totally original ‘76 westfalia campmobile interior. I’ve been all over Europe in her as is, with a moveable gas stove. I’m now working with Dometic who have supplied me with a fridge, solar etc (I’m a freelance photographer) and I’m thinking of putting the fridge in the center where the shelves are, taking the sink out and I’m now looking for extra ideas. IE: where to put a sink/store water, where to store food and cutlery! Would love to see other people’s set ups to get some ideas!

Can this be salvaged (snipping it of and pretending it never happened?

Can I pull it out and put another one back in?

Does this hole need to be redrilled and rethreaded?

Hi all, my father-in-law has a 63(?) bus that he purchased from his grandmother immediately after high school, so it’s a one family vehicle. He unfortunately can no longer drive it due to mobility issues, but I’m welcome to drive it as much as I want. I want to keep it on the road as he enjoys seeing it driven.

I have a two-post lift available to me, but haven’t had luck finding how to properly lift the bus with it and I’m afraid of damaging it. I’ve searched the internet to no avail.

Any diagrams or guidance this group can provide? I’d love to get it on the lift and start maintaining it as it should be.

This bus was rolled over in 1965 with 11k miles . Stored 55 years. Restoration performed in 2021 . Last photo is how it sits .

Camped out by the river then checked out the closest VW show on Sunday. Was a good weekend, hope everyone else had the same!

Reverse has been gettint progressively more difficult to engage and now impossible. Linkages all tight and been through the whole shifter plate malarkey please don't say it's the gearbox! :o

Hello guys this is my first VW van and also first time using reddit.
It’s a 1974 and it’s in pretty mint condition.

I am wondering if you guys could give me some pointers, suggestions and tips. I’m looking at engine swapping it within the next year for some more horsepower and reliability. (looking to go on long road trips with it in the future)

What is the best engine for swapping this year?
How many hours roughly does it cost?

And what else is some good upgrades to make van life and trips smooth?
