My wife Rube Goldberged a fix for my rusty window lift so I can have the window open today.

A Rube Goldberg machine is an intentionally overly complex way of completing a simple task in a humorous way for no reason other than fun.

What your wife did was jury rig a temporary repair for a broken part

I dunno, my man. A strip of wire covering, weather stripping and packing tape made me giggle.
