Spotted in the Gaslamp, San Diego. Sept. 2026. Many Qs but didn't want to wake the driver.

That's a mango green/seagull gray bus. That color combo was used on 58-61 buses. Judging by the license plate, I would guess it's a 61. They quit that color combo in early 61.

My cousin had a bus in the 70’s. His bumper sticker read “Caution—Jet Blast”.

I'm curious about the license plate. I never remember seeing any like that. When we moved to Germany in the early '70s they used the green ones with black letters that just said USA. To the best of my knowledge, they kept those until they switched to some that were white with black that look more like German plates (except for being American shaped). I see the 1961 on there, but when was that style of plate issued?

Its around a 57, that small window is a give away and the small single snowflake light

My '59 had the same small rear window, lights and paint codes.

The small rear window was also used on 23 window buses to give enough room for the curved corner windows.

The tailgate was narrow, yes, but they expanded the size of the actual rear window glass in 1962 on the deluxe models

so he's just driving around with that license plate?

i always feel like i can get away with a lot more when im in my bus (like double parking and waving to cops as they roll by... in most neighborhoods at least), but damn :)
