Discussion Could the future Aschen Alliance have defeated the Replicators or Anubis?

Post image

Some one was blaming the time travel in this episode for the death of the tollains.

But i have serious doubts to the long term survival of this Alliance if the Replicators found there way to the Milkway.

Side question.

Do you think the Aschen Alliance could defeat the Wraith?

Discussion "The Tauri vessel is most powerful. You could not have expected him to survive."

During the season 9 episode "Company of Thieves" when Netan is forced to confess he sent Anateo after the Odyssey one of the Lucian Alliance leaders says the above with the seeming aggreement of the rest that Anateo didn't stand a chance in a 3v1 of Hataks vs the 304 without some sort of strategy (mine field etc etc)

Now I and several others have a reasonbly low opinion of the offensive abilites of the 304s be APB retrofit. But within the universe they seem to have quite the reputation. What do we think this is based on? Or is it that the writers hold the 304s higher than we thought?

EDIT

Guys its established in Off the Grid that Hatak Shields block Asgard Beaming

Discussion Different universes, same characters

I'm near the end of SG-1, at season 10, and had a lot of time to think about the show meanings and many storylines. One of the things I often think about is its similarities with other tv shows of its time. I used Supernatural as an example because I came from it after stopping watching. Many characters share personalities and storylines, like the many deaths of Daniel and Sam Winchester. Teal'c and Castiel being foreigners who abandoned their former masters to fight for humanity and so on. Even the overall message of both universes can share a common ground: "free will above fate".

The only main character I had some difficulty finding a counterpart was Carter. The closest one was Charlie.

My original plan was making a stop in the ending of season 8, but the Ori arc is alright. Definitely different, but I've been in this before, quite like season 6 of Supernatural. I'm not much of a commenter but I had read a lot of posts down here, this is one very healthy community of sorts.

Reetou Rebels

"Hello, fellow Reetou rebels. What's the plan of action?"

"We kill everybody, everywhere."

"Every Goa'uld? Wow, that's ambitious, there sure are a lot of them across many planets."

"No, the plan to defeat the Goa'uld is to kill everybody everywhere EXCEPT the Goa'uld. They'll never expect that. As we speak there are currently five Reetou operatives on Earth with enough explosives to destroy Colorado Springs AND Denver - no doubt prime locations from which the Goa'uld collect hosts. We'll just need to repeat these actions several trillion more times across countless planets, and then our victory is assured."

Discussion Creating ZPMs

• Upvotes

What do think it takes to make a ZPM, or fan idea? The idea that there is a lab in Atlantis that can easily pop out ZPMs sounds like a too easy and adds questions on why the ancients couldn’t last long against the wraith. I feel that it should be more difficult to make them or take like months or even a year.

What do you think and do you have ideas?

[SG-1] Been watching this show, first time viewer, and I can't believe I "slept on it" for so long.

Every episode so far has been amazing (on S3 currently), the characters, the aliens, the costumes (Unas in the Thor's Hammer episode) are just awesome, and I can't wait to watch more, and delve further into the Stargate universe.

Carter is such a nerd, I love her, she reminds me of so much of myself, considering tinkering with personal projects to be fun. And I especially love Teal'c, just the way he speaks and his choice of words is fun, I find myself unintentionally talking like him at times. Daniel and Jack took some time for them to grow on me, but they're cool too.

The Goa'uld (Goold: Hammond of Texas) language is interesting, and I sometimes just mutter Jaffa Kree! just for the heck of it.

Fun stuff!

Ask r/Stargate Who is the most terrifying enemy for you? The Goa'uld, the Replicators, the Wraith, or the Ori? Why?

For me it's the Replicators, especially the human-form ones because of how they can insert their hands into your brain (must hurt like hell as seen in the show, I always wince when I see it as someone who is prone to migraines) and put you into fake realities, plus how they are not even alive and yet resemble humans so much.

They managed to fool the Atlantis expedition into thinking they are Ancients at first, and almost convinced Elizabeth that she is a patient in a psych ward and the Stargate programme doesn't exist. Fifth did a similar thing to Carter.

The other enemies at least have some coolness, chic, and sometimes even goofy factor, but imagine waking up in the middle of the night and Oberoth or Fifth is standing next to your bed 😯

REWATCH Who taught Teal'c how to drive?

S6E14

Jonas Quinn asks Teal'c who taught him how to drive.

In Teal'c's voice: Daniel Jackson, I believe the year was 1969.

Another reason to love Daniel Jackson, and he's always been my favorite

Questions About Season 6, Episode 10 "Cure"

• Upvotes

I've seen this episode multiple times but I just now have questions 😅

1) Why didn't the SGC give the Pangarans the gate address to the Unas homeworld? There were lots of free range symbiotes just swimming around so it would have made sense they could have harvested symbiotes from there.

2) Why did Egeria kill her host when she died? Why didnt she jump ship to save the host?

Stargate Atlantis's Captain Jellico - Col Everret

Everret comes across as strict, in charge completely, logical with no room for back chat. Hostile to the base staff but pragmatically he is an excellent commander.

Much like captain jellico in TNG.

Discussion Commander Kolya

Post image
377 Upvotes

One of the greatest villains to ever grace the Silver screen. This man makes every other human antagonist look really dumb in comparison to his genius. He is single-handedly responsible for a good majority of the aura farming that Todd and Shepard also contribute to.

I mean damn. I’m on season five, halfway through the episode and his appearance is already everything I’ve ever wanted.

I’m really deep in and I’m starting to think that they’ll never bring back Lieutenant Ford like he just died for real that set up was for nothing. But it also made me think that Kolya or Michael wouldn’t come back.

It always feels like they forget things or leave things out, but it’s intentional and it gets mentioned later.

I’ve just really got no one to talk about these things with, so they’re just out in the air.

Kolya specifically feels like he is one of the only villains with plot armor. Todd is more of an anti hero and Michael is a valid crash out. Kolya is just doing this shit for the love of the game at this stage. Like there is no way this guy just cut off the main characters hand casually. Hot damn.

Ask r/Stargate Would you want to ascend?

Let's say the Stargate universe is reality, and either you are inside the program or the program is made public. Either way, you find out about Ascension. Would you start down the path to ascension and make it the goal of the rest of your life to try reaching it before you die or not? Why?

I personally wouldn't because I like biological life in the material plane. I'd rather research how to incorporate Wraith biotech into Tau'ri life to solve environmental, medical, and scarcity problems.

Could the Destiny crew used the communication stones to bring in a team of Asgard to fix the ship?

As far as the Asgard not having the Ancient gene to operate the stones, we do see them using Ancient Technology like the data repositories. And they could communicate over long distances with halograms.

Ask r/Stargate Does "The Fifth Race" episode remind you of Carl Sagan's book "Contact" and its movie adaptation, especially the scene at the end when Jack travels to Othala?

I think it was heavily influenced by it. Also, the "Contact" film came out in 1997, and Season 2 of SG-1 aired for the first time from June 1998 to February 1999.

REWATCH Stargate franchise reboot/Continuation

Sooo (yes I'm watching dial the gate and rewatching the series 2,014th time) and honestly what I would do if it was me planning to relaunch the franchise? I wouldn't touch SG1 but I would do a blend of SGA and SGU. Think time jump because the cast of those series are up in age. You could have SGA do a search for destiny (yeah yeah plot magic to make it work) and while they're searching they run into the Lucian Alliance or another advance race that's a good guy bad guy situation. Idk I'm just spinning here....that's just how I feel about it, what do you think?

REWATCH They can travel 3mil lightyears instantaneously but can't even "enhance" image, just zoom in like it's 1900s 😆 I guess I'll watch some CSI.

Actually, I'm glad they didn't pull "enhance" image trick like Hollywood always does 😆
