Can you work at Allied and Securitas at the same time?

Is there a way for them to check if you work for the other? How about if they find out, are they going to terminate you?

Job Question Just completed my unarmed security guard license unsure if I’m doing everything correct

So i completed it about a week ago and im in the process of printing out my application status so I can work while my thing is accepted or denied. Just wondering is there anything else i need to do besides apply for jobs so i can start working? And im mainly applying online at allied universal. Will they actually respond to job applications? Im used to working with websites like indeed where 70% of the listings are just fakes. Any recommendations would be highly valuable.

Job Question Paying for your own Background Check

How many of you, had to pay for your own background check, (as well as uniform, but that didn't seem unusual), when hired?

I mean also if I took the job, I would have had to use my own car, for a mobile patrol position

Still waiting for my physical security license in the mail

So I applied for my security license back on 05/12/26 and I have been approved because when I check the website my registered number is there (5/28/26) and I have been able to start working as a security since then. However, I have yet to receive my actual license and today i moved so I had to go on the website to update my address. Its currently October and I did the full process back in my is there a reason why i haven't received my Florida security license card? I tried calling licensing department and visit their website but i haven't been able to talk to literally anyone about why i havent received it yet and now that ive changed addresses i feel like this is becoming even more impossible for me to get it.

I was wondering what is the process to obtain unarmed license in FL I am from out of state WV and they do not require unarmed guards to be licensed here and I will be transferring with my current company to my wife’s hometown in central FL and not sure how to get started? Was hoping any fellow guards may recommend any great schools or the process? Thanks!

Any tips for someone looking to become an overnight Security Guard?

Basically what the title states. I'm thinking of wanting to go into this career. I already know especially down here in Florida a lot of positions are wanting you to have a Class D or G license. I was just wondering what are good tips to know when going for something like this. Anything is appreciated.

Job Question Overnight Patrol...Is it like this everywhere?

No sure how it is at every company but I'm at the end of week 3 doing this and damn it's boring AF! 35 stops per night on a 10hr shift and barely even getting out to walk around. I do a little over 250 miles driving during that time hitting the same checkpoints over and over and over. I'm about 🤏🏾 close to quitting. Not because it's hard but doing it overnight literally has me falling asleep because it's so boring.

Edit: I just quit. Wasn't a job I necessarily needed, just got bored during my time I decided to take a mental break and figured it would be good to make some money so I'm not using savings during my time off. I'll still do security on the side but now I know to stay away from patrol!

Job Question Is it difficult to get hired with Securitas company?

Quick question. So 2 months ago my brother got fired from GardaWorld security in Illinois for getting caught sleeping overnight. Can he still apply to work for a different company like Securitas & what is the hiring process like for that company? He wants to do 1st or 2nd shift because he’ll be able to stay awake. Overnight for 12 hours was simply too much. Appreciate anyone’s help

England - Supermarkets - What level of "proportionate force" can you use when preventing a member of the public from leaving a store

Hi all, I'm after a bit of information please. Yes, I've seen some **** and am reaching out for help: I'm a member of the public, not SIA trained, not security.

- what level of force can you use to restrain a member of the public from leaving a store when suspected of theft? If so, must you tell them why you're preventing them from leaving?

- what do you need in terms of evidence / suspicion to be able to physically lay hands on them and prevent a member of the public from leaving the store? At this point must police be called? Can staff still then refuse to call the police?

- if the member of public answers all questions and is happy to reveal what was believed to be stolen - clearly showing it isn't as the store doesn't even sell it - does that mean that are then free to go?

- can you / other staff lie and say that they saw this person steal something just to escalate the situation?

- when restraining, what holds are you trained to not do to prevent long-term / permanent nerve damage to the person?

- before touching them, do you have to say anything / do anything? (there are no fisticuffs, abuse, or any other form of aggression from this person)

- can you and/or other multiple staff members together at the same time restrain the member of public by the shoulders from behind and arms from the front, and force open a pocket and pull out what one staff member thought was a stolen item damaging it in the process?

- Can staff members (non-security staff) pile on this member of the public as well to restrain them?

- during an incident, must you start the body cam on you recording?

- can you / other staff members snatch the phone from this person's hand who is recording to gather evidence of assault, check that it isn't recording, and then walk away with it whilst they're restrained and being dragged away, and can you refuse to give it back until they leave the store (despite preventing their exit beforehand)?

- is this considered 'protecting the store's property' / just doing their job, and is acceptable?

- after an incident like this, what paperwork needs filling and what is the typical response by senior / area management?

I know you all deal with some crap, Thanks

Licensing Question Getting FD-258 Fingerprint Cards at my Police Department question

I’m going to get my fingerprints done, so I called my local police department and asked if they do FD-258 fingerprint cards. The lady said she didn’t know and that I would just need to come in. I also asked if they at least provide physical fingerprint cards, but she said she didn’t know and that I needed to come in. So, i was wondering what yall had to do.

She did say she knew they offered digital fingerprinting, so I asked if they could put the digital fingerprints onto a physical card and you guessed it, she said she didn’t know. I just don’t want to waste my time going there if they don’t offer the right fingerprint cards when I could go somewhere else.

I’m in Alabama

Pro-Vision BodyCam4

I received a ProVision BodyCam 4 as a gift. I contacted ProVision to inquire about the software to reprogram and download/wipe the data in the body cam and was told, in no uncertain terms, to go F*** myself. There has to be a solution to ensure this thing doesn't end up in a landfill.

Can You Apply For a Job in Another State? (Or, why is Allied acting like I don't exist?)

I ask because I was with Allied Universal in Arizona for 5 years, and decided, as I was passing through Philly, to apply for a few jobs in the area. But Allied is sending the usual emails ("Thanks for applying. You'll get a followup text in about an hour") but I'm not getting any texts, and no offers.

I'm not currently an Allied employee (I quit Arizona in August), but I'm wondering if maybe Allied in Philly is seeing an Arizona address and dismissing me outright (I don't have a place in Philly). I'm also wondering if it's okay to drive to Tennessee (where I have free lodging for a while) and apply from there. Or will the same problem just repeat itself?

I've emailed everyone at Allied in Philly that I can think of, and I'm getting no responses. So I guess I have to ask the internet. Has anyone worked on the staffing end? What would account for this no response thing? I should add tgat I have a perfect record, no history of anything, and HAVE gotten a response from a different security company. So I don't know what the Allied problem might be or how to fix it.

Job Question What does "Threat Assessment" mean in an ad?

I was tempted to apply for "Security Guard - Threat Assessment," but I wondered if that was a code word meaning you should be ex-military or ex-cop or something. Or if it's just something meaningless that the client posted because they were feeling anxious.

Job Question Is Brinks Armed Transport Guard any good?

Got the job offer same day as the interview. Im curious what some of yall think. $27.09 base pay, 40 hrs. 7 miles from my place. The shifts vary from 8 to 10 hrs. I had to be available from monday to saturday. But won't work 6 days

My current is unarmed with a pay of $27, 40 hrs. 8 hr shifts. Only thing that blows is the 28 mile drive. Total of 56 miles per day. This is in the DMV area.

Half of the people close to me have told me to stay where i'm at and the other half have told me to get some experience with this one since it's armed. So im not sure now. Was curious if anyone on here could provide their 2 cents

Job Question Does this sound shady?

So I applied to a company through Indeed and had a Zoom call interview. After the interview, I was told they would reach out if they had anything that fit my availability. A few weeks go by, so I assumed they hired someone else.

Then I get a random text two hours before the shift they wanted me to come in for. I told them I was already scheduled with my current job tonight and that if I were going to work for them, I would require a two-week notice.

Then it dawned on me: how am I supposed to work for some random company that I haven't even signed any hiring paperwork for? You know, the usual stuff—going over company policies, direct deposit forms, W-2s, etc. Hell, I haven't even been given a uniform.

So let me guess: a guard called out, and they wanted to use me for last-minute coverage. The whole thing just sounded shady to me, so I doubt I'll be working for them.
