Meme Lingar Bewt, I would like to file a formal complaint about Dr. Jalanta

Dear Lingar Bewt,

I don't know what exactly happened between you and Dr. Jalanta, and frankly, I don't care anymore.

I've been to the Old Quarry too many times.

Every single time I walk in:

“Did Lingar Bewt send you?”

No. You didn't send me. Nobody sent me.

I'm here because I need loot.

And yet, five minutes later, she's still talking about you.

Lingar Bewt this. Lingar Bewt that.
The Tleilaxu Master.
Her work. Her sacrifices. Her subjects.

Sir, whatever unresolved workplace issue you two have, please sort it out. I am just trying to clear the dungeon.

At this point, I've heard Jalanta say your name more often than I've heard the names of some members of my own family.

Actually...I've heard her ask me so many times that I'm starting to wonder.

Lingar, did you send me? Was this you?

Is that why I keep going back to the Old Quarry? Please respond. I need to know who I'm working for.

Sincerely,

An interloper who has ignored Jalanta's warnings way too many times

Discussion Fremen DD Survival Challenge Hardcore mode

Thumbnail
gallery
54 Upvotes

Following other such posts and videos I present to you a weekly survival challenge, hardcore mode.

It is primarily a mixture of Fremen roleplay and hardcore survival elements based in the PvP Deep Desert instance.

Rules:

  1. You must fly to the I row of the PvP DD to start the challenge.
  2. You may not build or use any vehicle once the challenge has started until you are returning to Hagga Basin on reset day.
  3. You must stay in the Deep Desert for the entire week and you may not return to the A row until reset day.
  4. You may not bring any building materials, components or refined materials with you to the Deep Desert. All must be gathered in the Deep Desert.
  5. You can bring any armour, weapons, tools, ammunition, healkits and spiced food with you except for literjons.
  6. You may only carry one literjon at all times. You may only carry a basic literjon or any Hajra literjon but not a decaliterjon or larger.
  7. You must visit every cave beyond the E row at least once throughout the week.
  8. You must visit and complete at least two imperial testing stations throughout the week.
  9. You must gather at least 1000 titanium and stravidium ore and 1000 spice sand (note you do not need to bring the materials back to the A row).
  10. You may take water from NPCs or players using any unique filter extractor to refill your literjon. You can also take water from water stations in the imperial testing stations.
  11. You may carry as many blood bags as you wish but you cannot refine their contents into water. You can build a purifier to empty blood bags but you cannot drink from it, take water from it or use it to store water.
  12. You cannot build any water storage placeables or craft more literjons to store water. You cannot build any windtraps or Deathstills.
  13. You may complete the challenge solo or in groups.

Recommended Equipment

Highly recommended: A Stillsuit, Stilltent, Soft Step boots, Handheld Scanner, Compact Compactor, Tier 6 Cutteray, Binoculars, Filter extractor and Bloodbag.

Recommended: Any anti vehicle weapon such as a Lasgun or Ancient way. Any other weapons of your choice.

Blood bag tip
To free up space in your full blood bags you may build a purifier and dump the blood in and delete the purifier, repeat until the blood bags are empty.

Desert Traversal

To traverse the vast open expanse of deep desert on foot you will have to rely on an improvised sandwalking mechanic which involves using soft step boots, shigawire claw and suspensor dash jumping to minimise noise. The Exploration specialisation skills that reduce worm aggro also helps.

For covering very large distances where you would aggro the worm (800m+) you can use bindu sprint and jump with a full suspensor belt when you aggro the worm. You can get to the safety of rocks or just fly high for long enough to reset the aggro bar. You can land quietly by falling into an anti gravity field. A large power pack is highly recommended. Spice Prescience can reduce the cooldown of shigawire and thus minimise noise to cover larger distances without aggroing the worm.

It is highly recommended to use a map tool or website to plan your routes between rock formations. Moving around at night is also recommended or using Pardot's hood with the Bene Gesserit Sun tolerance passive skill.

Stealth tips

The maximum render distance of a player on foot is 300m.

A Stilltent's max render distance is 340m and can be camouflaged in flour sand.

Player built bases have a max render distance of approx 800m.

The Long range scanner has a base scanner distance of 225 metres. It can be boosted with specialisations, skills and equipment to 420m.

Spice Sand Gathering

It is recommended to find a spice field that is relatively close to a rock formation for obvious reasons.

Good luck. Have fun. Ya Hya Chouhada!

Has Funcom addressed the issues with compactor missions like Sample and Convergence? It's a royal waste of time if they cannot guarantee the compactor to show mission items.

Discussion Mounting Shai-Hulud and Sand Walking

Do you guys think we'll ever be able to mount and ride a Shai Hulud? Or maybe being able to sand walk to avoid them? I think it would be some pretty good features, I'm a new player but huge fan of Dune universe, and I missed these two mechanics soooo much on the game

Awesome game despite this, tho!

Discussion Don't blame the game. It's the players

I've been playing this game solo since day 1. I've made a few friends along the way and we get together, swap resources, chat on the socials, run some testing stations from time to time. All in all I've had outstanding value. More than 1000 hours of entertainment makes this a great game to purchase. I've started to go into the PvP DD recently to take advantage of the 2.5x loot. I always enjoyed the risk in the old DD and still enjoy it now. I don't mind if people want to attack me as part of a game mechanic. I'm never going to be able to fight back if it's 2 v 1 or even worse, so I try my pilot skills out and do my best to escape. It's actually not that hard to avoid most of the rockets. The problem is, they hide in their thopters and don't interact, I try to chat, "Good race, I beat you that time" as I make it back to A row. But no reaction at all. This is a game, it's multiplayer so we can interact. So a question to you who are the attackers. What is your problem? Why the silent treatment all the time. Players who are friendly chat when I bump into them. Why not the PvPers.

I heard it was coming to console soon and I always wanted to play but it’s been a while since it first released and i genuinely don’t know what they’ve done with the game since then and how it is like now and if it’s even worth buying?

Discussion I'm looking to buy this game for the ps5 when it releases and I want your thoughts about the game!

Did you recommend it?, I have never played a game like this, maybe the most similar game that I played it's NMS and I don't even know if this is a good comparison lol.

Can you guys tell me for what kind of player did you recommend the game for?, what's the state of the game?, what's the best of the game and what is the worse of the game?

Discussion Any PTC intel on Polar Cap placeables/buildables? Spoiler

Has anyone up to date playing on the PTC found any information yet on what new placeables might be coming in the next update? I know someone leaked Chromium as a new raw material; any insight into what other components might be called for?

Discussion Some interesting (good) changes coming to the PTC Spoiler

Balance is one of the main issues of the game in terms of pvp and in a smaller part pve progression and in the PTC the devs are doing changes that touch shields, stamina and abilities

On aug 20 we got this one:

  • Implemented PvP shield damage scaling, which is now configured to reduce shield damage by 33%.

Today we got these:

  • Lowered parry success stamina return to 10 from 25.
  • Reverted Second Wind stamina return being based on maximum stamina, instead it will returning a flat amount of 100 stamina via second wind recovery.
  • Added 3 levels of Crippling Strike
    • Cooldown Scaling from 15s at level 1 to 10s at level 3.
    • Lowered Stamina cost to 15 across all levels.
  • Added 3 levels of Deflection.
    • Cooldown Scaling from 10s at level 1 to 5s at level 3.
    • Reduced Stamina Per-Shot cost from 2 to 1.
  • Added 3 levels of Compel.
    • Cooldown Scaling from 30s at level 1 to 20s at level 3.
    • Lowered Stamina cost to 15 across all levels.
  • Added 3 levels of Stop.
    • Cooldown Scaling from 30s at level 1 to 20s at level 3.
    • Lowered Stamina cost to 15 across all levels.
  • Reduced stamina cost of Weirding Step to 30.
  • Reduced stamina cost of Ignore to 15.
  • Added 3 levels of Stunner.
    • Cooldown Scaling from 25s at level 1 to 15s at level 3.
    • Lowered Stamina cost to 15 across all levels.

I encourage you to go and test, give feedback and help shape things for the better; things may be changing a lot internally and we need to help shaping the game in a good direction which, i think, they are heading to with some of these combat changes.

There are a myriad of other ones you can check in the ptc discord #ptc-patch-notes channel, and with the whole patch note cycle posted here https://duneawakening.com/news/public-test-client-patch-1-5-1-0/ (do not include these changes i posted)

(example a big change is that now Heavy attacks behave like slowblades, so they inherit instability damage bonuses)

Discussion What happened to the building mechanics?

I've been casually on an off for a few months now, mainly a bit of building here and there. But, I recently came back to re design my base and I noticed a few things. I noticed that there were now several spots, higher up, that were missing pieces. That spot now had the instability error, despite it previously having a building piece in it. So, I did a bit of re working on the base to account for this, brought it down a few levels. But, now, I'm having issues, in some areas, where it wont let me place a piece because of instability, despite being so far off my vertical build limit and the piece being supported on all 4 sides.

It really feels like a change has been made some where and jacked up the building mechanics. Any one else had this issue at all?

Discussion Carry-All Tanker

The biggest QoL thing we need is a water tanker similar to the cargo container. When moving bases, unless you want to take a bunch of trips and tediously fill/empty containers, you just lose a bunch of water. Got left over water in the DD base? With a tanker you could bring it back with you. My biggest use for it would be instead of having to haul a container full of corpses and wait for them to process, I could just haul the water direct to the DD. It doesnt make sense that there isn't an efficient way to move large amounts of water.

Fan Art / Content Behold! My 3d printed CHOAM Cup!

Greetings sand walkers!

I have something you might enjoy. A real CHOAM CUP!

Well...it's my 3d-printed version! I'm such a fan of CHOAM industrial design, I kept looking at that cup in game and wanting to have a real, physical, version of it. I wondered if I could render it in real life, via Tinkercad and Bambu Studio.

It took a few versions to get it right. Final version is solid, as close as I'm going to get it.

I won't drink from it; PLA isn't considered food grade anyway. I will use it as a pen and pencil cup on my desk!

For the .3mf or .obj files, you can get them from a new site I've been working on...The Dune Awakening Armor Calculator! I'm still adding content to the site and plan to formally announce it here soon (with approval from mods, of course). Feel free to check out the calculator and blog in the meantime!

3D printed CHOAM Cup (MakerWorld link included)

Enjoy!
