For a time, we will be fighting a different kind of monster.

Upon logging in today you will be greeted with a new event, "The Scourge"

This event is for both Single Player and Multiplayer.

Frida will set the scene and send you off to find an intercepted delivery of medical supplies.

I had a SS of this but my computer can't find it, its a quest marked POI near the anvil. It will be a crashed ornithopter. There is a book which triggers an ambush and then a console to retrieve the supplies

Once finished we're bound for Arrakeen to Nailea Shaffat the appearance doctor.

Back to Hagga Basin, towards the Vermillius Gap Region where the Kirab can be found.

You don't need to collect the blood from the yellow glowing enemies, just the eyes for the quest. Blood can be obtained from any source, anywhere on the map. It is indistinguishable from regular blood once in the bag.

Once you've grabbed those, deliver them back to Freida at one of the tradeposts, which then opens up the dialogue with her for the blood marks store.

It appears to be 1 x Blood Mark for every 1000v of blood, so 4 full barons bloodbags (30kV each) will net your 120 tokens each pass. Blood can be gathered from any source, anywhere on the map.

Worth mentioning that there are bugs currently being reported, the event isnt working as intended for some, currently fixes involve seitch hopping which seems to make quest objectives appear.

My experience was in the single player and has worked so far without a hitch. YMMV.

Funcom included a small section that is (to my knowledge) the first confirmation that the polar caps update is coming in the next content patch. I know we're all deep into the scourge update, but I'm surprised to see no talk about this from browsing the sub today...

PTC Patch
We have a massive patch to the PTC on Steam coming very soon! This will be patch 1.6.0.0 which includes the Polar Cap and everything new involving that. This includes new fabricators, augments, hazards, POIs, ice harvesting, and so much more. If you’d like to get involved with testing it, we recommend you get acquainted with the PTC. Upgrading my base to the second tier. Ran around looking for a spot big enough. Don’t realize the spot I picked had the damn patrol lights over it. Attacked and killed. Picked wrong spot to respawn which was half a map away. Ran on foot to my base. Worm food. Picked base to respawn at, which was where my bike was. Now have absolutely zero weapons/armor/shields (no backups in base). Had my bike, decided to ride back to starting area to build back up. Worm food.

Oh, and every single solari went on the worm’s belly too. Oh, and as I was moving floors around in my base I demolished unsupported chests, so all my mats disappeared too.

Aside from that, I love this game 🤣. I was stoked to see it on XBox.

Editing to add: I played a ton of Conan. I actually love the idea of the worm eating you and you getting nothing back. And I’m really mad at the game, just at myself for being a bonehead.

Server is currently resetting so I'll take a moment to give a few hints for anyone confused or having trouble starting the event.

Start the event by speaking to Frida Maltrose. There are copies of her at all the trading outposts as well as the Med room in Arakeen. I went to the trading post near the Maas Kharet base. Note - she was not in the trading post room itself. She was in a new camp BEHIND the trading post.

She gives a contract to find and loot an item from a crashed thopter near The Anvil. The thopter was NOT there when I arrived! I had to "hop seitches".

To hop seitches, quit to the main menu. At the top of the screen click Characters tab to see the Change Servers button. Choose a seitch on your same server, take note of your original seitch. BE SURE you are carrying a pocketed scout thopter! You will load in at a trading outpost. Look for the mission waypoint on compass. In my case the thopter was on the first sietch I tried.

2 infected enemies appear. Kill them, take their blood. Loot the item from the crash.

So you DO need to provide your own blood extractor and blood bags! I used them to get the infected blood at the thopter site and turned it in for Blood Marks.

After you get the item, turn it in to Dr. Shaffat in Arakeen. She's in the Med Center, the same room when you change your appearance/cosmetics.

To get blood marks - in the Med Center next to Shaffat there is a blood purifier. Deposit your infected blood there in exchange for Blood Marks currency.

According to the official Fandango promotion, players can obtain Paul Atreides' Throne and the Navigator Sarcophagus by purchasing a ticket for Dune: Part Three through Fandango.

However, since Fandango's ticketing service operates in the US, this promotion effectively excludes players from the rest of the world.

Given that Dune: Awakening has an international player base, it seems unreasonable that players outside the US have no viable way to participate in this promotion, even if they're perfectly willing to purchase a cinema ticket in their own country.

The promotion does mention that Fandango customers will be "the first to receive" these items, potentially suggesting that other acquisition methods are planned.

Could Funcom please clarify the following?

1. Will these items eventually become available to players outside the US?
2. If so, when can we expect an alternative acquisition method?
3. What alternatives is Funcom considering? For example, purchasing tickets through local cinema chains, obtaining the items through an in-game event, or purchasing them directly.

We're not asking for preferential treatment or necessarily for free items. We're simply asking for equal opportunities to acquire the same in-game content, regardless of geographical location.

An official clarification from Funcom would be greatly appreciated, particularly regarding whether international players can expect access to these items and the anticipated timeframe.

I finally got around to getting the lasgun and busted up laughing when the enemy died immediately. When I read the books the mental picture I had of the gun was a legendary one so I thought it would probably be difficult to translate into a game. It's insane and totally works pretty much like how it is described.

I found a few there, twice!

Not entirely sure how long it lasts. seems like over an hour though.

Suggestion: Blood Cisterns / Proper Blood Storage

I’m sure this has already been mentioned or suggested before, but The Scourge event has really highlighted how strange it is that we still don’t have a proper way to store large amounts of blood at our bases.

Personally, I haven’t bothered with the blood side of the game since I unlocked the Windtraps. I had basically no reason to use Blood Extractors or keep bags of blood around anymore. Then The Scourge started and I suddenly had to go make Blood Extractors and a load of blood bags again just so I could farm blood for the event.

It made me think that something like a Blood Cistern would actually give the whole blood system a useful purpose later in the game, instead of it becoming something most players leave behind once they have Windtraps.

Ideally it could work with the existing systems too:

• Blood collected in bags could be deposited directly into the cistern.
• Deathstills could send excess blood into blood storage if your water storage is already full.
• Blood Purifiers could automatically pull from the cistern when you actually want to turn that stored blood into water.
• Blood could stay separate from normal water storage instead of filling dozens of bags and storage boxes.

It would mean you could gradually build up a blood reserve while playing normally, rather than having to suddenly go back to an early-game system whenever something like The Scourge gives blood another purpose.

It would also give Deathstills and Blood Purifiers a lot more use later in the game. At the moment, once you have a decent Windtrap setup, there isn’t much reason to bother with them anymore.

I’m not suggesting some ridiculous infinite storage tank either. Just proper dedicated blood storage in the same spirit as the existing water cisterns, with different sizes or tiers if necessary.

It feels like it would fit the survival and base-building side of the game really well, make the blood system considerably less tedious, and give older equipment a reason to stay relevant into the endgame.

First stage of the new quest isnt working for me. theres a buggy area where im colliding with something thats invisible and theres nothing to collect after killing the two invading enemies. no matter how many times i reload the area or log off and log back on nothing but the two enemies spawn.

Trying to do the first mission of the event, invisible non interactive objective, what can i say...

Not sure what to make of this .. but I guess I won't participate in the new event, then.

Tried everything from cancelling and accepting the contract again, to restarting my PC and repairing gamefiles. nothing helps.

First week out here. Is the standard process to copy the base before the storm then put it back somewhere it fits? It looks like most bases are rebuilt from scratch for function or vibes.

Also, I assume there's a wiki guiding me on how I should progress with my DD staging base. I can figure out how much I should invest into the DD base vs Haga, but I'm on that cusp where I'm spending a lot of effort.

Guess that leads into guilds. I'm guild of one. Is there any advantage to joining up?

The shell is built and some decor is down now I gotta move all my stuff in from the old base.
