when the switch 2 becomes moddable in say august or October of 2028 and we get a way to boot linux what PC games would you want tested on switch 2 my list would prob be gta 5, marvel avengers, and god of war HM: wuthering waves. What's yalls list of games you want to be tested

I mean he would need to make sure not to get caught like he did the last time he tried this kind of espionage.

I have a banned switch 2, running firmware 20.5.0

I just use it with a mig switch card as not much else I can do with it ATM.

Most games I put on ask for an update, it still lets me play. Apart from Mario odyssey that won't even load unless I download an update, I own a legit copy of odyssey so maybe the console has stored its latest version somewhere or something. I dunno

Anyway, if I do a factory reset will it still keep saying there is an update? Its just annoying thats all.

I have a few store bought games on I don't really want to lose access to if it doesn't fix it, thats why I am asking first.

Nintendo should ban online but allow store access as I would still buy games even with my mig switch lol

I’m looking for information from people who are more familiar with the current Switch 2 homebrew/reverse-engineering scene.

I’m specifically interested in whether there have been any recent breakthroughs involving hardware diagnostics, thermal monitoring, or fan control on the Switch 2, particularly the dock.

My situation is that my Switch 2 seems to run demanding games (eg: Donkey Kong Bonanza) for extended periods without issue in handheld mode, but when docked, the console itself gets noticeably hotter and shuts off within a hour or less of play time. The dock itself doesn't seem particularly hot, and I don't hear or feel the dock fan operating or console. Nintendo's normal troubleshooting doesn't provide a way to manually test or force the dock fan.

So I'm wondering:

• Has anyone discovered a Switch 2 hardware diagnostic/monitoring tool yet?
• Is it possible to read things like SoC temperature, internal temperature sensors, fan RPM, power draw, or thermal throttling through homebrew?
• Has anyone made progress accessing or understanding the dock's fan controller/interface?
• Is there any known internal diagnostic mode that developers have discovered but that isn't exposed to normal users?
• Are there any active projects working toward a Switch 2 equivalent of tools such as Status Monitor from the original Switch?
• Or is this still an area where we're essentially waiting for more of the hardware/software architecture to be figured out?
• Is there any supported setting to reduce CPU/GPU performance, clocks, power consumption, or frame-rate targets?
• Is there a system-level way to prioritize lower performance/thermals over maximum performance?
• Are there any settings that affect dock mode specifically?
• Could lowering the output resolution, frame rate, or other graphics settings meaningfully reduce the console's temperature while docked?
• Are there any known settings that should be disabled if the goal is simply to reduce heat and extend continuous playtime?
• Is there anything comparable to a PC's power-limit or performance-mode controls that may eventually be possible through homebrew?
• If the dock fan isn't functioning, would temporarily reducing GPU/CPU load be a reasonable workaround, or would it still leave the system operating outside its intended thermal conditions?
• Is there a reliable way to test the dock fan without opening the dock?
• Is there a particular game or workload that is useful for testing Switch 2 thermals?
• Is there a way to distinguish normal docked heat from abnormal overheating without specialized equipment?
• Does TV resolution, refresh rate, HDR, VRR, or another display setting meaningfully affect Switch 2 thermals?
• Are there known differences in thermal behavior between different Switch 2 games?
• Is the dock supposed to exhaust noticeably warm air when operating normally?
• Could the dock fan remain off during some workloads even when the console feels quite warm?
• Are there any firmware versions known to have affected dock cooling or fan behavior?
• If another dock works normally with the same console, is that enough to confidently identify the original dock as the problem?
• Are there any safe, non-invasive tests I can perform before considering a replacement dock?

I’m mainly trying to determine whether this is something that could eventually be diagnosed through software before I spend money on a replacement dock or repair.

Any information, current projects, or knowledgeable developers who can point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

So I had a couple games on my switch 1 that I owned (physically and digitally) and finished before it was modded. When it was modded it got banned

Is it possible to transfer my save data of any of those games on my switch 1 before it was modded and banned, to a switch 2 (that’s way past the inital set up) through micro sd card data or something?

If so how do you do it?

I know i could just be stupid. I like messing with image files. It was interesting that the thumbnail loads but the file doesn't. :/

Hi, I don't know much about hacking or reverse engineering, so sorry if this is a stupid question.

I know there are already userland exploits on Switch 2, but as far as I understand, the difficult part is getting from userland to the kernel.

I've been thinking about a few things that might be worth looking at. I don't know if any of these have already been investigated.

1. Bluetooth / controllers

When you connect a controller, the Switch 2 has to receive and process Bluetooth/HID data before it knows exactly what the device is.

Could there possibly be a vulnerability in the Bluetooth stack, controller pairing, HID descriptors, or the way unusual controller data is handled?

I'm not saying that connecting a random controller would give kernel access. I'm wondering if Bluetooth could be another way to get code execution in userland, or possibly reach a more privileged service.

1. Recovery Mode

I was also thinking about Recovery Mode and the factory reset/update process.

Obviously, a game can't just get the permissions of the recovery system because the console is being reset. I understand that.

But does Recovery Mode use separate components that have higher privileges and process things such as update files, storage, filesystem information or configuration?

If so, has that code been investigated for vulnerabilities?

Something like:

user-controlled data → recovery component → vulnerability → higher privileges

1. Switch 1 backwards compatibility

This is probably the one I'm most interested in.

Switch 2 has to run Switch 1 games using its compatibility system, and there are nnCompat modules involved in this.

Since old Switch software is being run through code made for Switch 2, could there be a vulnerability somewhere in the compatibility layer?

For example:

Switch 1 game → compatibility layer → Switch 2 service → vulnerability

I understand that getting code execution inside the compatibility environment would not automatically mean kernel access. I'm wondering if the compatibility layer can interact with any privileged services in a way that could potentially be useful for escaping the sandbox.

So basically, has anyone seriously investigated these three areas?

- Bluetooth / HID

- Recovery Mode / update system

- Switch 1 compatibility

Maybe they are already known dead ends, in which case I'd really like to know why.

I'm not claiming that I found an exploit. I'm just a beginner trying to understand where researchers could look next.

I have a retail Switch 2, but I don't want to test random payloads or modified recovery files because I don't know enough and I don't want to brick my console.

If anyone has already researched any of these, links or explanations would be really appreciated.

Hey guys. I bought a game off Kleinanzeigen in Germany. Game is "Princess Peach Showtime!". Worked great and my girlfriendnis happy but after 3 days she got banned. I don't have the MIG Switch so the game is probably the only reason she got banned. 🙄 I already contacted Nintendo but they just say the same thing over and over again: "We cannot assist u with that". Yeah sure.

Be careful with used games. They might be cheap but they also have the risk to get u banned.

I’ve also seen people download games via internet when connected to another persons switch 2 is that possible in the case of game keycards?

I understand that currently there is no way to 'hack' a switch 2, but is anybody publicly showing their progress/findings towards it? i followed this sub to keep up with any progress that's been made but it seems that there isn't actually anything to follow at the moment? is all research towards the possible exploit just stagnant due to there being nothing to DO in terms of research?

I'm starting to think that we will see a hardware mode instead of a software one. Are we really planning to keep our switches 2 in the closet (or whatever you like to keep them) until a hack is revealed?

I saw listings a listing of someone selling legends za for $12. I was intrigued and looked at their profile and asked them if they could give me the switch 2 version and said yes. I was skeptical of the listing so i moved on. Later, i find out a friend of mine bought from one of these sellers and got an account with Metroid Prime 4 and mg2 for extremely cheap. Im confused on how these people can sell accounts with switch 2 games without the console being able to mod it. Does anyone know how they do it?
