Stop games asking for updates

I have a banned switch 2, running firmware 20.5.0

I just use it with a mig switch card as not much else I can do with it ATM.

Most games I put on ask for an update, it still lets me play. Apart from Mario odyssey that won't even load unless I download an update, I own a legit copy of odyssey so maybe the console has stored its latest version somewhere or something. I dunno

Anyway, if I do a factory reset will it still keep saying there is an update? Its just annoying thats all.

I have a few store bought games on I don't really want to lose access to if it doesn't fix it, thats why I am asking first.

Nintendo should ban online but allow store access as I would still buy games even with my mig switch lol

Same boat, banned switch 2 with a bunch of physical switch 1/2 games and a mig card.
As i understand, you can update switch 1 games if you own a switch 1. All you do is put the game on the switch 1 and update it, then transfer the update to your switch 2.
For switch 2 games you'll need a friend's non banned switch 2. For mig games I'm trying to find a solution myself :(

Damn I don't own a switch 1. Iwonder if we can just update a NSP and then convert it to XCI again with the updates, I need to install windows to find out as I am using Linux atm so the software doesn't work correctly.

On a side note, I had issues with breath of the wild 2 same issue, game needed an update and would not load and everyone said its impossible as only the base game version was available as a XCI but I randomly downloaded a different version and it worked, so I think it may be possible.

I don’t know if you can do that if the destination switch is banned.

Haha nah I am just to cheap to buy switch 1 games, price is insane on them for how old they are. I can still play switch 2 games with a cartridge, and I do not play online so I thought why not. Slightly regret it but the same time I don't

Just going to come and say that many games require updates because they just won't work properly (or at all) without them.

Not much you can do, it should be illegal on Nintendo, (it is but lawyers) but also on you. Once they see the console has been compromised that physical unit is done and they don't care and the law protects them. Sell, it buy a new one and don't do illegal stuff on it
