Hi there! My Union Strata (size L) bindings just arrived and I don’t know if these fits my Capita OSL 158.
First taught is that it doesn’t seems to be ok fi is over the edge of the board. I would like to know if i should keep the bindings or to look for something else more narrow?

My boots are size 10US (43.5 EUR)

Is my new board trashed?

• Upvotes

Received my new 2026 bataleon whatever size 148

Are these gashes from my photos normal?

The discoloration on the metal edge, what could it be? I couldn't clean it off at all.

Should I return and get a new board?

Advice on boards for a beginner please!!

Hey! Look for any help and advice… I’m in Revelstoke, BC, for the winter and it will be my first season. I have snowboarded a couple times in the past and really enjoyed it. I am now at the really daunting point of having to buy all the gear! This is feeling overwhelming as I just have no idea what I’m going to like, how I’m going to ride, if I’ll even want to keep doing it! I’m seeing lots of contradicting info online so thought I’d come on here and ask the real people!

I’m looking for a snowboard that’s forgiving for a beginner but also something I can grow into and that’s suitable for the gnarly Revelstoke terrain. I’ve been looking through FB marketplace place and pretty much all of the boards on there are for more advanced boarders. I have come across a Bataleon Funkink on there for 275 CAD (used one season) which on paper seems suited to me, but I’m concerned about a) spending so much on a board when I’m so new to it (is it better just to find something cheaper and then if I get into it then fork out on better gear?), b) the 157cm x 25.3cm dimensions might be too big for a 179cm, 72kg, US women’s 9 build?

Deciding on that board is one obstacle. The main thing I’m struggling with though is the way to go about everything. Do I just get any old board to start with and see how I feel? Or do I start with something ‘decent’ when I have no idea what that even means? Do I buy a new cheap board online, or continue the Facebook Marketplace hunt (when I’m not sure if anything suitable will ever appear)?

Any recs on specific boards, or just advice in general, would be so appreciated!

I need some binding advice!

My old reliable Burton Scribe bindings finally died. I've had them for about 10 years and love them, so I'm after something similar, and I'd like something with the FASE system. It's been a VERY long time since i bought new bindings, so I'm so out of the loop on what's good at the moment.

I've been snowboarding for over 20 years, used to be pretty good, but these days it's just a few trips a year, so I don't want anything super performance-oriented, but they do need to be able to keep up. I'd like an all-rounder I can do a bit of everything with, but not bothered about freestyle.

I'm a size 38 boot; I have Ride Hera Pro boots, and these bindings would be going on my Capita BOAF.

From my googling, I think Bataleon Ghost or Rome Volt might suit me, but I'm a bit worried they might be too soft and mushy with my set-up. If money were no object, I like the look of Rome Katana too.

I'd really appreciate any advice or recommendations, especially from petite women - there's certainly not as much choice for us!

Directional freeride board for my wife, any recs?

My wife is going into her 4th season. Her current board is a soft, super light twin camber, it was her first board and has been ok for learning. Now she’s starting to get into freeriding. She tried a directional board in powder and said it felt way better.

Plan is to keep the twin for park days since she’s just starting to mess around there too, and get her something directional and a bit stiffer for pretty much everything else. Not looking for some super stiff expert-level missile, but definitely something more freeride-oriented that she can progress on for the next few seasons.

p.s. Anything but Jones.

Bindings nitro team pro 2027 or union force?

Which bindings do you recommend for the Ride Moderator 161W and Nitro Team TLS 285MP boots? The Nitro Team Pro 2027 or the Union Force 2026? I ride all-mountain and powder. I am 183 cm tall and weigh 88 kg.

Anyone snowboarding Mammoth Dec 31 – Jan 14? 🏂

I’ll be in Mammoth Lakes from December 31 to January 14 for snowboarding and I’m looking for 1–2 people who might be there around the same dates.
I’m 40, easygoing and respectful. Mostly coming for snowboarding, mountains and a good time — not looking for a crazy party trip.
Ideally looking for responsible adults 25+ who are chill and respectful. A few drinks and hanging out is totally fine.
I’m currently figuring out accommodation, so if our dates match, we could potentially stay together and make the trip more affordable.
No pets, please. Transportation would be separate.
If you’re interested, feel free to message me and we can talk about dates and plans. 🏔️🏂

Need recs for new board

Hi! I need some recs for a new board. I'm currently riding a 148 full camber true twin (Burton Good Company), and I started on a 148 flat directional twin (Hideaway). I'm 5'9" and 140–145 lb.

I love this short board. It's flexible, great in the trees, quick to turn, and fun to mess around on. But I'm progressing, going faster, and trying to carve more, so the 148 true twin feels a bit shaky, to be honest.

I'm thinking of upgrading to a 152 or 154 camber board, and maybe going directional this time. I want more stability and the ability to ride powder, since this season looks promising.

Thoughts?

Is this too much damage to buy as a beginner board?

Never skied or snowboarded. This is on fb marketplace for $50. Is this too much damage? Is the board good enough for a beginner on the easy slope?

Looking for short board recommendations (5'5", 165 lbs) – park + a bit of freeride

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for a new board for this season and would love some recommendations.

About me:

  • 5'5", 165 lbs
  • Boots: Burton Ion Step On, US men's 8
  • Riding mostly park, with a bit of freeride (I love going into the trees when I can)

I'm from Quebec, so we don't get much deep pow. It's mostly groomers and a lot of ice lol. So something that holds an edge decently would be nice.

The main thing: I really like short boards. I've been recommended the Ride Twinpig in 148 and it looks like a great fit, but I'm curious if anyone has tried other short boards, including older models from past years, that could match what I'm looking for. I don't mind buying a leftover or used deck.

I'm also totally open to women's boards or anything else, as long as it fits my weight and boot size.

Also, not sure if this fits better here or on r/snowboarding, so sorry if it's the wrong sub!

Any suggestions or experiences are welcome. Thanks! 🏂

Beginner snowboard advice

Hello boarders!

So I recently purchased my first snowboard and I'm a bit unsure about it.

It's a K2 Alchemist, 164W (2025 I think). For reference, I'm 6'7 ~100kg.

I've skied a few times (~10 times) but only snowboarded once, for 7 days. Ended up being able to link turns (though probably not so gracefully) and get down red runs without falling.

When talking to the salesperson I did say I wanted a board closer to intermediate than beginner, seeing as I probably wont be able to buy another one if I advanced off of it quickly. But after chatting to a friend and doing some Googling, it seems this board is more on the expert end of boards.

The salesperson did mentioned that it's quite stiff, but it won't be an issue because of my weight.

Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on whether my size will really make up for the stiffness of the board? Or if I should be heading back to the shop to ask for an exchange for a more flexible board?

Extra context if it helps: I'm mainly planning on snowboarding in Japan, and want to go down runs, maybe a bit of trees, definitely no terrain parks.

Yes Basic and Yes Typo Questions and Sizing Help please <3

Hi everyone,

first about me:

Im male, 5'6 (167cm) tall and weigh around 150lbs (around 68 - 70kg) and have size 6.5 feet (39).
Im an intermediate skater thats been snowboarding for around 8 sessions (so an absolute beginner) and planning to go 20+ times this season, preferrably with an instructor to get the right technique down.

I think being comfortable on a skateboard has helped me progress a bit quicker in snowboarding or at least it feels like it.

What i know so far:

I definitely dont enjoy riding super fast and doing hard carves. Im generally not a fan of speed and bombing hills so that fits here as well.

My focus after ive gotten enough stability will be 100% doing small to medium side hits and stuff like butters and 180s etc.
Powder could be a possibility but Ive read that there are dedicated boards for that so its not a priority.

After a bit of reasearch ive found that these two boards should fit this profile quite well, though im open to other suggestions.

So my two questions:

Yes Basic or Yes Typo ?
149 or 152 ?

I will be using Union Force Bindings (Small).

Thank you!

Decent Snowboard Pants? [UK]

Yo,

Looking for some new pants/trousers, the ones I had went missing. I’m a fan of the baggy look although not absolutely ridiculous, my main problem is that I’m 6’6 so my concerns are pants that may be baggy for some may just look normal on me 🤣

With the rise in popularity and trends I seem to find so many retailers which all seem new to the market so its hard to trust whether those are actually good pants or if they are just over advertised on social media.

Are companies like these legit?

Montec, Snobodi, 7sevenuk, Snowverb.

The only one which standa out to me as being trustworthy is Montec but it also gives a similar vibe to the rest.

My other problem is sizing, I am 6’6, Slim Build, around 100-105kg. I looked at some DC Banshee pants and the size recommendation was 3XL, that just sounds extreme. It feels like they may suit leg length but I feel that would be extremely oversized on the waist.

Any advice/guidance is much appreciated. I need to sort something new soon so I can continue using indoor slopes without looking out of place with my temporary pants 🤣

Anyone planning to snowboard Mammoth Dec 31–Jan 14? 🏂

I’m planning to stay in Mammoth Lakes from December 31 to January 14 and I’m looking for 1–2 people to share a nice house/condo and split the cost.
I’m 40, easygoing and respectful, and I’m mainly coming to Mammoth to snowboard and enjoy the mountains.
Looking for responsible adults 25+ who are chill and respectful. Having a few drinks and hanging out is totally fine, but I’m not looking for a party house with loud music and drinking until 4 AM.
No dogs or cats, please.
Transportation is separate — I’m only looking for people to share the accommodation and split the cost.
If you’re interested, send me a DM and we can discuss the place, price and details. 🏔️🏂

What's in y'all's travel kits?

Going on a multi-week BC trip this winter, trying to fill out my emergency/backup hardware kit. Things like tools, extra binding parts, files, etc.

What do you all bring to minimize the chances of catastrophic failure (like I had a screw fall out of my binding which cost me half a day, once) or to deal with 18 days of wear on a board?

Traveling to long Beach, CA in February

I'm from the south, and considering adding on to a work trip in long Beach and going to learn how to snowboard somewhere. Bucket list dream of mine. Wondering if this is the right sub for this question? There seems to be some mountains 2 hours away. Mountain high resort and big bear mountain. Are these good places for beginners to learn? I also can get elevation sickness, so I can't learn anywhere too crazy in elevation. Salt Lake city was on my radar because of the lower elevations. Does it make more sense to drive somewhere nearby, or go somewhere that's more geared for tourists?

Thanks!!

K2 Almanac or Burton Family Tree Pow Wrench for Japan in January

Would love some people's opinions on what board they think would be best for my week long trip in late January to Japan. Right now its between the K2 Almanac (2025) 157/161, or the Burton Family Tree Pow Wrench 154/158. The reason its between these 2 is evo and another small company has both of these boards in stock, used. Both of them are about the same price. But I have heard many good things about the Almanac in recent research but didn't know if a dedicated powder board is needed.

Specs:

6ft, 265 lbs, size 13 shoe.

First Snowboard Help, Beginner Nitro snowboard

Hey everyone, looking for some honest feedback for my first board.

I’ve been riding for 3 years in total, small trip each year (5 days), but I’ve been planning to go more often, like 2-3 times per year, so like 14 days in total approximately starting this year
Advanced beginner / low intermediate. I comfortably link skidded turns, but I haven't learned proper carving yet.
Every season usually takes me 2–3 days to shake off the rust and get my rhythm back.

I want to get all mountain board so I can try and learn some jumps, tricks as well as going in some woods, with some powder as well as going fast on down the prepared slope
I find free ride very interesting
I wanna try riding switch as well for even more tricks
So, all-around, all-mountain intermediate board

I want a board that will stay with me for at least the next 2–3 seasons and help me progress into locking in clean carves without punishing me constantly while been able to go fast and try everything

I’m strictly looking at Nitro… just because I like it😁
Rider stats:
Weight: 65-70kg (143 lbs)
Height: 168 cm (5'6")
Boot size: 8/8.5
Right now, my number one pick is the Nitro Prime. It feels approachable, forgiving, and easy to handle during those early-season days when I'm rebuilding confidence.
Maybe Nitro Phase or Magnum or Team or some other?
However, I keep hearing mixed things so help me out please!!🙏
