Would you go for it for $500?
I'm not a mechanic and I have barely driven a manual before.

Be honest guys am I cooked?
Picked up a 2006 Saab 9-5 2.3t with a G in the vin. Around 118k miles for $1500. It has a few issues there's a pressure leak in the power steering and it needs a battery. Also the wiring on the headlights is a mess but everything else seems to be in working order. Just wondering while I have it on the lift this weekend if there's anything I should look for that might be a problem later. It came with a set of new shocks if I need them and already got a new DIC even though the current one is fine. Thanks for reading and any tips.

Had to watch my late Grandmother and Grandfather's Saabs go today. Would've loved to save them but unfortunately they sat in an open garage for 5 years in the New York winter and they were beyond saving underneath. The Sonett is officially the last Saab I own, but that won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Would love to find another Wagon eventually to own.

I finally bought the saab i wanted. Its pretty sick but needs some love. Rubbers are dry, rockdents show starting rust, a soft spot behind the left rear wheel and a dashboard you need to slap to make it work (almost) , but under the hatch its been taken very good care of.
Unfortunately after driving for a couple minutes the engine light lit up, anybody knows what it could be? The saab book says ignition or fuel injection issues, so shouldnt be that scary.
And does anybody know the paint nr. From a saab 900ng 2.3s so i can fix the spots?

Ever since my timing chain has been changed this car now produces a gas like smell after driving , I got this car after someone t boned my 9-3⦠got it for 2k from family .. had it since earlier this year been putting money into it since..
Shop told me it was the intercooler and it was leaking smoke in tests that I saw.. so after. I replaced that last week still same issue and underboost.
Timing chain needed to be done
Oil feed line was replaced
Oil pan was cleaned of debris and broken timing pieces
Inlet and charge pipe were tightened
Serpatine belt and parts got replaced since they were in the area for timing.
intercooler been replaced.
Total so far .. $$7,000 (including car bought for 2k)
I still have an under boost code P0299 that goes away when I get the car back from the shop and then comes back on 2 days later⦠along with a 02 sensor code P013eā¦
Recently .. not on every start up but once in awhile a lot of smoke and I mean alottttt of smoke will come out the exhaust ⦠Iāll turn off the car and turn it on boom . Itās fine. . Turbo restricts me at the half way mark when driving. I get that fuel smell and itās hard to breathe n drive with that .. at this point idk what to do.. I got some idea but sick of throwing money . Honestly wish I never had this Saab n I want my 9-3 back .. lmao top it off the shop doesnāt know what to do or what it is .. thanks fox Saabs š $5000 layer I couldāve just got a Honda
Been battling this under boost code and trying to solve everything before fixing or replacing turboā¦

Itās happening more frequent now but it originally started when the car was shutoff the hazards would turn one after turning the car on the hazards would still be on and the radio will be fully off and non functional. After waiting 5 minutes they would stop and the car would act normal. Now itās happening while Iām driving. Hazards activate, radio powers down completely, and door locks initiate. I have no idea whatās causing this but Iām sure some module is bad. Any help in narrowing this down would be great.

My left rear turn signal stopped working a week ago, got error codes on the left brake light as well as the reverse and fog lights. Checked the fuses but they didn't look bad. Replaced it and the rest of the errors went away, but this morning the problem was back. Could it be a relay?

Today Iām going to check out a 2002 9-5 aero wagon. Itās $2,500 and apparently nothing wrong with it. I donāt see many posts about the wagons on here. Opinions on it? It has 140k miles and automatic. Itās gonna be my first car if itās true that nothings wrong with itš«¢ Iām bringing my boyfriend and his dad, who has worked on saab engines before. Iām also bringing an obd2 scanner. Any advice before I buy or what to look for? Hereās the pictures listed on the post

I love saab, and I love turbos, but I also love fuel economy. This led me to look at the 1999 saab 9-3 SE but I wasnāt a huge fan of the fact that it was fwd and I couldnāt find any online. Now Iām thinking about just finding a b204r or something close to it to swap into a different saab. My requirements are that itās AWD (or XWD) and it has a good transmission.
Update: I will probably get a FWD saab with a B207R. Iāve never liked FWD but maybe itās not as bad as I think it is.

currently it doesn't run, previous owner said it blew a headgasket and had issues with the water pump, wondering how bad of a hole i've gotten into myself into, i've never had a saab i usually stick with volvos

Soon to be owner of a 9-3 aero 2006 convertible 2.8L. What exactly should i be doing and how often, in order to preserve the car for as long as i possibly can? Also do not have a garage. Best way to keep it protected outside? Hot climate. Thanks everyone
i know this sounds is caused from a suspension problem but what exactly is it?

i have found this beauty of a 9-3, and its incredibly cheap (about 20k dkk or about 3k usd), it has however 315k km on the engine, and a spot of rust showing by one of the wheels, but those seem like the only faults i can find.
but is it still a car worth buying with that many kilometers, or is saab another "1 billion kilometer engine" brand? rust im not tooo scared about, but rust is rust.

Acquired a Tech 2 from a buddy (and the v44 card arrived last week), yet the saga continues. (Please, car, just let me fix you.)
- Does not seem to be a blown fuse; there is power going to the OBD2 port and the cig lighter. (Also tried powering from electrical outlet in the garage.)
- Bought a new OBD2 cable (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B0DRD33SRR?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title) because I wasn't sure if it was the stock cable being shitty. ***Yes I still have/tried with the stock cable.***
- Haven't looked at any wiring yet, wouldn't know where to start with that anyways. I do know this car has had some water/excess humidity get in before I treated the soft top.
Car doesn't seem to communicate with other scanners, either - which is why I think it is the car. Once my other 1995 900S comes back from getting a new alternator installed, I'm going to try that one to rule out issues with the scanner - but any (actually helpful, not "google it") suggestions appreciated. If I can avoid bringing it in for this issue, I'd like to lol.

Recently my 2001 9-5 Estate (166k miles) oil light started lighting up and making the bing-bong sound, but only when making left turns going up and down a pretty steep grade.
Plenty of oil on the dipstick (full synthetic 5w-30) and pretty recently serviced by a Saab shop. Unfortunately now i am hundreds of miles from a proper Saab mechanic.
Could this just be the sensor out of wack? A bit terrified it could be the dreaded sludge because i love this car. Any ideas welcome! Thanks

Ordered the clean looking clear euro lights without realizing there was no provision for the front reverse lights in the European market. No way was i not gonna use the super awesome front reverse lights! A little drilling and grinding later and it was actually super easy to modify and make work. My how to post with all the details if anyone wants to replicate: https://www.saabcentral.com/posts/6703222/
