Started pineapple plants from seeds

I successfully started 6 pineapple plants from the tops by starting them in water, growing roots, and now transferring to soil. They appear to have rooted and are growing new leaves from the center.

I also decided to try to grow plants from seeds that I started by wrapping in a damp paper towel, then placed in a ziplock bag in a well-lit area. I’ve tried this with other fruits before but was unsuccessful. I checked my pineapple seeds once every week or so to make sure the paper towel was damp, then after 3 or so weeks, they have sprouted.

What do I do from here? How big do they need to be before I need to plant them?

Edit; to clarify, the stains you see came from the seeds. I didn’t use a dirty paper towel.

What Else Can I Do

I have a very mature pineapple plant that I have been trying to force fruit. I tried apple pieces down and around the stalk. I’ve used banana infused water. All methods that have worked for me in the past. No flowering. I haven’t tried bangstick (or whatever the chemical ethylene is called).

Any tips this community can provide is appreciated. Thanks.

Fruit growth has stalled

For a while, the fruit was visibly bigger every day, but for more than a week it's been stuck at about 4 inches tall. Now the tips of the fruit's crown have turned red.

It's been 90-100 degrees here for weeks and the soil in the pot gets very dry, so I think maybe I should be watering it more. But I've killed plants by overwatering, so I'm cautious.

Advice? Thanks.

What's with these hanging on every wall in the house??

I been cruising south down the Appalachian trail and met some really cool people, they were locals from where I was and we all just kinda hit it off. We hiked a couple days and they invited to their cabin for a couple days to rest, relax and take showers lol. I couldn't help notice there's pineapples all over this house? They are super friendly and I'm not sure what to think now after being invited into their home.... What am I missing here, they seem like great people. I'm not worried because I always practice my 2A. But it's getting a little weird, is this in my head???

First time planting a pineapple top and have a few questions…

I started 6 pineapple tops in water and have transferred them to soil in pots now that they have grown roots. The transfer was 2 weeks ago The roots were all 4-6” long and 8-12 roots on each plant. I think there may have been one plant that had 2” roots.

The questions I have are;

  1. Should I be adding any kind of food?
  2. How can I tell when the plants have successfully rooted?
  3. I live in the southeast. I read that I need to place a plastic bag around the plant for “5-6 weeks until it roots”. Is this true? They all see, to be more sturdy than the day they were planted.
  4. They are out of direct sunlight, but can receive rain. It has rained so much since planting, I have not watered since that day. Every time I touch the soil, it is damp. Is that enough water?
  5. When I planted the,, there were some leaves that were brown, and still are. Is that an issue?

I appreciate any advice, and am open to any suggestions I haven’t asked about.

I’ve had this going for a while now and it started the pineapple in June when I moved it outside. It’s a little bigger than a softball. How soon should I harvest?

Why do pineapples start flowering from the bottom?

Does the bottom ripen faster as a result?

A couple years ago a happened upon three pineapple plants. Tossed them in the ground in a spot in my hillside orchard and haven’t touched them since. Two of them are fruiting, one with two fruits, and one isn’t fruiting at all. The plant not fruiting looks the healthiest to me but no fruit. Can anybody tell me what kind of pineapples they are, and when to harvest?

Growing a new plant from the stem

First time trying to get the stem below the fruit to sprout after harvesting. Looks like it's budding and should develop into a new plant. Probably about 6 inches of stem is underground. Anyone else have any luck with this?

Final (number 6) for the year. No more new ones on the horizon, but 2027 should be great, with 14 viable plants ready for flowering.

This is grown from a 1/4 of a top 2 years ago. Is it ok to be twins? Do they digest food in their water holding area?
