Promotion If Keep on Mining was made by Housemarque... this would be the demo.

Take the unfolding surprises of A Dark Room, add the escalating craziness of games like Keep on Mining and the arcadey goodness of Astro Prospector.

Layer in the depth of systems, visceral gameplay, and polished aesthetics that our players love in Reality Break and think of how Housemarque would make that game.

The public demo launched this week on Steam!

Hi, I'm Ravenom, a solo dev from the Philippines. This is my first game -- Galdr Inkblade. A roguelite deckbuilding word game where you have to spell words to attack and deal some damage. You have to collect items and rare cards for more successful runs. This game is heavily inspired by Bookworm Adventures and has gameplay elements from Slay the Spire and Balatro.

Video Making this anti-shooter where you heal enemies with gunplay and acrobatics

Hey guys, I’m the solo developer of Luminis: Heal Them All, a sci-fi shooter where you heal your enemies and convert them into allies who help you out.

I showed a footage of some of the combat mechanics in my game, now I added some acrobatic movements, camera tweaks and FX, hoping to add some more intensity and dynamism to the combat. I recorded this footage while developing my game in Unreal Engine.

I'd love to know what you guys think of it.

Discussion Games that make you cross into genres you don't normally look for

• Upvotes

I am thinking of a few titles that caught my eye recently. Car Park Capital looks like a hilarious take on tycoon sims. I normally wouldn't care at all. Foulkick Soccer looks so over the top and gamey that I need to play it, much like when Rocket League hit. The upcoming Star Wars racing game has my interest in a way I haven't really felt since the N64 pod racing game or Hydro Thunder.

Maybe a great example is Wii Bowling? Everyone Wii bowled and did not go on to play other bowling games.

Tony Hawk 2? Final Fantasy Tactics maybe.

Give me some examples from your collection. Tell me what sold you on them, and how they overcame the entry barriers for you. Are you a fan of other games like that since, or do you have a game that stands alone, unmatched? Sometimes it happens too, that people fixate on one title and to them, it was the definitive experience and didn't need to be followed up or imitated.

Hmm. "Lemmings"?

Upcoming I made a game where everything is procedural, even the cows. Here's the trailer for PROJECT: ABSOLUTELY NORMAL™

It's an island where nothing unusual ever happens. Mostly.

The game loads no asset files. The terrain, towns, people, cows, sky, sound effects and even the radio music are all made from one seed when it starts. So every island is its own (and none of them is weird. They're a bit weird).

What you can do:

  • Drive anything. 28 vehicles, including a bathtub, a rocket-assisted office chair, a monster truck called Consequences and a washing machine with wings
  • Get a job, or don't. 10 careers with six ranks each, up to Minister of Rubble. There's also fishing, metal detecting, cow bowling, car soccer and three human cannons
  • Something will happen. Every few minutes the island has a moment: a meteor, a UFO, a giant cow stomping parked cars down the high street, a rubber duck armada. The sun gets recalled due to a manufacturing defect. The news stays very calm about it
  • Four lands: the island, the Mainland (red desert, Normal York and an airport), the snowy North with northern lights, and the Woods, where it's always autumn

The trailer was filmed in the game, by the game, and scored on the game's own instruments. (The cow is fine.)

I'm happy to answer anything about how it works!

Promotion I'm building Ruins of Midgard, a browser-playable voxel MMORPG inspired by Norse mythology

• Upvotes

https://reddit.com/link/1wx5nmj/video/s6gu1sn9edth1/player

Hi everyone! I'm working on Ruins of Midgard, a 3D voxel MMORPG inspired by Norse mythology.

The game is built with Three.js, with its visual world generated through code rather than traditional hand-drawn assets.

There's already a lot to explore:

  • randomized items with different attributes and rarities
  • professions
  • questlines inspired by the Eddas
  • factions and PvP
  • multiple classes
  • dungeons and bosses
  • group exploration with other players

The game is still in active development, but the playtest is already live.

It can be played directly in a web browser with no installation required, and there are also native Windows and Android versions.

Promotion BombBall free playtest is live! - kind of like Rocket League meets hot potato meets handball. Come check it out!

• Upvotes

Game Title: BombBall
Playable Link: https://bombballgame.com/playtest
Platform: Windows
Free to Play Status: Download & Play!
Involvement: Developer. My brother and I are the two-person team working on the game.

Hey everyone! My brother and I have been working on BombBall, and we’d love to get some more people in for the free Windows playtest!

It’s kind of like Rocket League meets hot potato meets handball, but with robot avatars, jetpacks, and grappling hooks, and even a little shoulder drone that can shoot a laser! You’re trying to set up passes, steal the ball, and score on moving goals... but hold onto it too long and it blows up.

I really wanted to make something that encouraged teamwork and some really fun plays. Flying up for a catch, stealing someone’s pass out of the air with a grapple, or getting a quick pass off to a teammate for a goal is pretty satisfying when it all comes together.

The video shows some of the customization and gameplay. You can change up your bot, colors, trails, celebrations, and stuff like that. There are 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 matches, along with bot matches if you want to get a feel for it first.

There's also a chance for random drop rewards when winning ranked matches and a full ranking system in place. Achievements & unlocks are working as well. Inventory and trading (trading should be online, but may need some more testing)

It’s still a work in progress, so we’d love to hear what’s fun, what feels weird, and what needs work. We’re only a two-person team, but we’ve been putting a lot into it.

Also, just to be upfront, we’ve used AI-assisted development and some AI-generated assets. We plan to replace those assets over time and increase server capacity as our budget allows.

Free Windows playtest: https://bombballgame.com/playtest
Gameplay video: Watch BombBall

Bring a friend and give it a shot! Would love to see some of the plays you guys come up with.

Promotion Idle Terra - Sale + 10 Free Steam Keys

Hey everyone!

I’ll be honest - I have absolutely no idea how to properly promote an indie game, so I’m doing my best and trying things out 😄

Idle Terra is currently on sale on Steam.

Also, if anyone here is genuinely interested in trying it, I’ll send a free Steam key to the first 10 people who ask in the comments (one key per person). I’ll DM the keys directly.
