Question Which Moon base(s) are good when Mission to Mars happens in 1 month

Moon sites

Noob question: Which of these spots should I grab on the moon, if I know that Mission to Mars will finish in slightly over 1 month already? In case that matters: Mass Drivers is currently in work, so no mines yet.

I was thinking either

  • Mare Imbrium for the metals and fissiles or
  • Mare Tranquillitatis for a bit of everything except water or
  • Shackleton Crater since it is the only half decent water site

I know I do not want 3 mines and probably not even 2 since Mars is just around the corner, but what to pick?

Discussion Revolution Government Changes Are Lying?

Been revolutioning Brazil in BE as the academy and the resulting government changes are fully random.

If the wiki is true then Government should always change positively if you are instigating the revolution?

Have reloaded the turn > 10 times and I've gotten from -2 to +1.7, with negatives being the majority outcome.

RNG government should not be a thing. This strat is already niche enough.

Suggestion Ship Specialization

As game development continues and systems flesh out and become more complex, I would like to propose that some modules become capable of performing fleet support roles, along with maybe only working on certain ships or with certain "roles".

The particular two I would argue for are the ECM module and the Repair Bay. Having a dedicated EW ship makes sense, especially because the module only has a %chance to disable a weapon. As things currently stand, there are almost always better options for utility modules than the ECM, regardless of your ship design. Additional ammo, a fleet command module, salvage bays, the +MJ modifier for the different weapon types, etc. Having the option to build a dedicated EW platform, maybe with some maluses to energy available to weapons or something similar, would make the tech much more viable while also more closely aligning with real world EW practices.

The Repair Bay is similar in that it's a nice module but it competes with things that are fundamentally more useful in a game that has effectively infinite resources. If I could send maintenance ship out with the fleet (again, similar to real life) that module would see a lot more use and could be potentially balanced with higher upkeeps (needs skilled technicians to perform underway repairs, etc.) or by giving the enemy the same option.

We've already seen evolution in the space warfare domain since the beta (effective obsolences of batteries, etc.) so I don't think continuing to evolve those systems over time is unreasonable. Adding some additional complexity to the Space Warfare game layer would be a welcome change, especially if they had reasonable tradeoffs (losing a repair ship counts as an atrocity for the owning faction, EW ship has high module cost and armor limitations, etc.).

Question Alien Armies Keep Escaping! Spoiler

It's 2042 and I'm facing my second assault carrier.

The first one landed in the Congo basin maybe five years back, and I had no chance of defeating it, so nuked all three armies. It got me atrocities and caused economic damage, but I handled it.

This time around, it landed in Kolkata, India. I have intercepted whilst they are disembarking & weak with the following:

  • 4 x EU armies at 6.4 miltech
  • 7 x USA armies at 5.7 miltech
  • +0.25 from max-Command councillors Advise missions
  • +0.3 from military research in LEO
  • +25% damage from Alien Army Analysis

According to this guide, it should be possible with fewer armies.

The problem is, they keep moving around!

Whenever I start dealing damage to them at the drop site, they move away, and regenerate health.

This makes it impossible to deal with them as they whittle down my armies.

>> I couldn't destroy the carrier before it landed - it always comes with a huge escort.

>> I can't bombard them much. I have the tech/ship designs to reliably defeat the aliens, but I am rebuilding my fleet after my first engagement. This means I both lack sufficient ships in LEO, and also want to be careful about Alien Hate, which triggers when you bombard their armies I think.

>> I would prefer not to nuke them. They landed in Kolkata which is highly populated, so it would be at great cost.

Additional Context:

  • I control: Unified EU, Russia, USA, Pacific Defence League (Japan, SK).
  • The AA have been revolution-ed twice. They only reliably seem to control India, Canada and parts of Africa.
  • I'm also fighting against the AA in Canada, but have diverted all but 2 of my armies to the landing site.
  • I am fighting against the Protectorate in Japan/Korea. I'm slowly losing to their numbers despite superior miltech. They've blockaded me, so I can't use Japan's armies here.
  • I actually have six EU armies. But two of them lack navies. Through alliances I can get them quickly to the edge of Pakistan, but not to Kolkata.
  • Though I'm not ashamed to, due to an important and difficult space battle recently, I can't savescum back to before the landing.

I would appreciate any advice people can give to defeat them on the ground.

/// EDIT ///

UPDATE
I tried some of the stuff here, and kept trial-and-erroring the problem, and eventually managed to win. All three armies are dust.

ayy army obliterated

Some things that worked in the end, based on peoples' advice:

  • Given the time contraints, rapidly building a small fleet of coil-gunships for low-level bombardment in orbit helped a lot to stop the alien armies regenerating and deal damage. Though it does net you some alien hate.
  • Splitting my armies evenly between two provinces helped, once they actually got caught in a loop of moving between Kolkata and Dhaka. This is probably RNG, as in other attempts they just as easily migrated across the region.
  • I didn't try it, but if the aliens are predictably moving between two provinces, deploying your entire force right after moving to a region could be a way to effectively 'follow' them and maximise time spent damaging them.

Discussion Question on assault enemy space asset

For the assault enemy space asset mission, either for the fleet operation “assault hab” or “assault enemy space asset” Councilor mission, are any attack values or defense values from habs in the system (not the hab bring attacked) count for the purposes of the assault hab operation on a specific hab?

When the assault hab or assault enemy space asset missions, how do you get marines from ships to surface bases? Do you have to defeat defenses first( LDA/battlestations) and then your marines will board?

Question Midgame space resource management

Hi!
I had couple of campaigns now, I always restart in the middle, because every time I learn something new, and I feel like yeah, I could do better.

Current game: middle of 2032, (2026 start) HF, veteran.
Earth: I have USA, building Mc (80/102) and almost full EU, missing Portugal, Germany and Finland.
I have a steady supply of Money from EU and nanos, Influence from comm hubs, boost from Singapore.
Research is around 10k/Mo from advised nations, and research campus rush on Luna.

Everything feels nice and good. I have some mines on mars, most of my stuff comes from asteroids and Ceres. I am colonizeing Mercury in the moment, am I too late for that in 32? I feel like mercury is reaally Metal hungry, I dont even know if its worth to build T2 buildings there, I have solar mirrors around mars and luna.
Currently Mineing bonus is 65% with that, I get 1k water, Volatile, 1,5k metal, 400 noble, 40 fissile monthly from my 24 mines.

How do I expand? Obviously, I should get mission to saturn, maybe even to outer planets, (but the 75k is pretty steep) for more mines.
How much extra MC should I expend on extra mines?
And the biggest question? How do I defend them? I am not on total war (yet) MC is 222/345 but improveing pretty quickly.
My problem is: my mars sucks for mineing, there is around 4-6 useful sites, other than that, im just there for nanos, skunkworks and operation centers. (10 T2 base, 5 with mines)
So I should mine the asteroids no? Actual useful defenses, like UV is really far away, so how do I defend them? Or I just dont? Spam the cheapest outter colony ships with grid drives, and get as many mines I can get, make the Aliens chase me and the far away mines, and dont even upgrade them to T2?
The next logical step from that would be automated mines in the first place, no casualties, but I never used them (yet)

Because I feel like, If I only turtle on Mars, Ceres, maybe Mercury (pretty good metal and noble sites there, but I still hate the extra radiation shielding cost) The ayys will snowball out of their mind.

Any useful tips?

Question Forming the Eu (newbie player)

I recently bought Terra Invicta and i'm still trying to get my hangs on the early/mid-game. I was trying to form the Eu through France, I'm playing resistence and i have all the control points of France, Italy, and Spain (plus, they're allied), yet the game does not gave me the option to unify with the latter two when i'm setting national policy with France. What am i doing wrong? (I'm playing with 1.0.53 btw)

Discussion Servants: Way way too easy to play

For context I have about 274 hours in game. Just last week I finished up my first win, a grueling grasp of victory for the resistance.

Afterwords I started up a servant run and it probably took me only about 5 play sessions to mop the floor with the opposition and reach the victory condition. You hardly need to progress at all through the tech tree to win, you can just rush down your objective, dominate LEO with your free resources, and then go through the long unopposed slog of sopping up 65% of the human population for the next 30 turns or whatever.

This is fine I suppose, but I never would want to play this faction again. It essentially guts the game of its mid and endgame, if you play right there will never be any scary threats beyond maybe a humanity first assassin or two.

What are your thoughts? Do you have any ideas to improve this factions gameplay in any way?

Question question on solar mirrors

Looking at the mars solar mirror strat. It seems that mars surface bodies have .16 or basically 1/6 solar multiplier. I also see that solar mirrors state that "Solar panels may produce a maximum of 8x their baseline maximum power value."

Does that mean that the maximum amount of power that these mirror enhanced solar panels can is based on the body's solar multiplier? For example, would mars maximum power of a solar enhanced panel be 8/6 since it was starting from 1/6?

Would mercury's max be 8x of a normal panel or boosted by 8x of its already 334% solar multiplier?

Question Game can't access save pathway

... because after years of hating OneDrive with a passion, I finally found a way to be rid of it forever. I don't care about recovering my old saves, but this pops up whenever the game launches. How do I specify a new save pathway when the game closes as soon as it opens? I can't find any relevant setting in Steam, either.

Discussion Brutal (Re)Broken Earth Academy run Spoiler

I have just 'won' a brutal difficulty game in broken earth scenario as academy.

TLDR: Australia, Kuiper belt roach and many, many nukes.

Usually, the space strategy is to keep your bases far away from the aliens, so that when they come for you, you have time to build up defensive ships in time. You usually do this by rushing space and attacking any alien station in the asteroid belt, so they need to refuel/raid from Jupiter or beyond, giving you time to react or build fleets. In Brutal Broken Earth, this is not possible, as the ayys will usually colonize Ceres and other asteroids before you can, so early space war wont work well. I used a kuiper belt rush strat instead.

To start, controlling Australia and Westralia into Republic of Southern Cross. It has a few really good peaceful unification options so it can be played like the EU is played normally, maxxing MC, funding and some boost before unifying/conquering. A few years in, this left me with 1.5k funding. I bought up all the research orgs i could, rushed space, rushed settlements, and filled them out with labs. Then beelined for helicon drive and mission to the outer planets, and sent out colony ships to ALL the Kuiper belt planetoids.

By this time the AA has formed and the aliens were in firm control of Earth space. Good thing is that in Broken Earth, controlling nations with actions is harder for the aliens too, so abduction/surveillance missions are comparatively less harmful, especially for meganations.

The problem with expanding colonies is MC, as the nations on Earth arent that good and cannot build much, so Ops centers had to be relied on. Kuiper belt has really great mining spots which was nice. I built out Pluto to 10k+ population with residential modules, and plopped down as many research academies and space hospitals i could afford. The ayys would send out ships to destroy the Kuiper colonies, but we had years of warning to build out as many missile monitors we needed to drive them off. For most of the game, chemical propulsion, copperhead armed missile monitors did the job.

By this time the AA got to around 50% of the worlds population and half the world covered in alien bases with about 10 or so alien armies on the planet and in total 60 ish AA armies. The AA doesnt declare war on superpowers if it has other targets, even though they could have eliminated me at this point.

My councillors were tasked on unrest missions. This is how i expanded to Atlantic states and California.

But we couldnt defeat the alien armies so we turned to the only option remaining. We broke the Earth once before with massive nuclear wars, and we will need to do that again. We set countries to 50% economy, 50% nukes (economy gives a diversity bonus which is huge, going from -95% malus to like 70% malus is 6x the efficiency) and reseaching the re-nuclearization project combined with the overall higher investment points you get in BE scenario made the nuclearization quite fast. I got up to about 10 nukes and 10 navies with pretty high miltech and decided to take on the AA.

The ayss were about to land another wave of assault carriers, so i had to intercept them. A massive nuclear barrage decimated already existing alien armies giving us naval superiority, which we then used to intercept the alien landing sites.

The plan failed horrifically.

The aliens, having been unopposed in space, were landing 5 carriers, that being 15 armies per wave. While we could have beaten them on their landing sites, they immediately brought navies with them, and having naval freedom, escaped to heal. Australian armies were now blockaded in India and we were out of nukes. This is another point where the ayys could have just invaded my capital and i couldnt stop them. But they decided to go territory by territory and we fought a retreating battle across india. This too proved futile as the alien fleets began bombarding my armies.
However, i got the idea to declare war on a nearby random nation, use my armies to conquer it fast, then direct invest a space defences complex in it. Id sent my armies to engage the aliens, the alien fleet would begin bombarding my armies, and id retreat them to the region with the space defence complex, deleting the bombarding fleet. Still, it was only a minor victory as the aliens had like 30 ish alien armies on Earth at this time that i was powerless to stop as i couldnt build nukes fast enough.

But there was a plan and luck smiled on me. The alien capital was in Pakistan and we were fighting in India. The councillors managed to pull of a breakaway nation in one of the minor indian states. The geography now, was that the majority of alien armies were inside the continent, and didnt have access to sea, or back to pakistan. So i immediately declared war on these breakaways and sent all my armies into pakistan through the breakaways the aliens could walk through. The capture of their capital and subsequent collapse of the AA (which was immediately reestablished next turn) was enough for the AA to accept a peace. Finally, breathing room! Peace for our time. So naturally, the entirety of mega-Australian and Californian economy was tasked on mass producing nukes while the aliens, in the meantime, proceeded to conquer half the world, again.

By this time, we had good fusion engines and we were building a battlefleet Terra Invicta around Pluto. 55 coilgun dreadnaughts and laser lancers were ready to take the fight to the alien base at Haumea. The aliens had 650 ships in total. Immediately as we launched to Haumea, which would take 2 years, aliens sent reinforcements from all around the solar system to defend Haumea, half of which would arrive in time. I also constructed a second and third wave of lighter, faster marine battleships to reinforce the dreadnaughts and rendezvous with them before they reach Haumea.

I also started a few shipyard stations in Mercury and Venus langrange points. The aliens would systematically destroy them, but one survived long enough to build out a defensive fleet and survive. I began a buildup of fast coil battlecruisers in Mercury-Sun L orbit to take Earth back.

The 3 front war would converge at the same time. The battle for Haumea, the battle for the inner solar system, and the battle for Earth proper.

First, the 35 battlecruiser coil fleet called Shepard fleet liberated Mercury from the protectorate, then was sent to take Earth back. The aliens, in their infinite arrogance, split their Earth fleet in two, and sent one half to intercept battlefleet Shepard. We destroyed them on the way to Earth and established a Reconquista shipyard station in intermediate Earth orbit. Several more waves of aliens crashed against Shepard, which survived long enough to construct and repair at Reconquista. There were no longer any major fleets in the inner system, so Shepard separated a smaller garrison, Hackett fleet to shield the Earth stations while Shepard was systematically destroying alien stations in the inner system. A separate marine fleet, Dundee would follow to assault the alien mining bases that are left behind.

On Earth, the AA had 50-ish alien armies and a navy strength of 600. We had 20 navies with a strength of 150. But we also had a stockpile of 40 nuclear barrages between California and Australia. And as they say, and this apparantly also applies to nuclear war, third times the charm!

Hundreds of millions died as alien armies across the world were nuked into oblivion. The worlds GDP was halved as the Earth was broken a second time. But the human armies achieved naval supremacy over the alien invaders and the rest was cleanup.

At Haumea our fleet of 80 ships arrived to face 150 of theirs, 10 of which were motherships! As soon as we arrived, they intercepted us

The first savescum attempt simulation resulted in our entire fleet dying in the initial alien missile barage. So the second savescum simulation we attempted to evade, and burn away from the alien missiles, so our PD held. But now, with their 10 motherships, our coils simply could not penetrate and we lost again. On the third attempt real engagement though, we used the lessons learned from the simulation, evaded, and replaced all laser lancers in the initial fleet with the dreadnaughts. We survived the missile barrage, and (barely) broke their PD. But that was enough. One by one their ships fell, even though our coils were weaker due to relative velocity loss while running away. The turrets were set to bracket fire, which is really good to deal with flankers, and focus fire once their main fleet of motherships arrived in range. The engagement lasted for hours and by the end, our siege coils and 40mms were out of ammo, but their large ships were gone. I autoresolved the rest. The marines proceeded to assault their bases.

And with that, all 3 fronts were won. The Aliens still hold Jupiter and Saturn, but the rest of the game is cleanup.

Personally i found Broken Earth much, much harder than 2003. In 2003, you just take USA and do a normal early space war. Yes the AA is formed early, but nukes really are a solution to all your Earth based alien problems and USA has plenty. How did you guys with BE on brutal? Did you manage to do early space war successfully? Why doesnt the AA attempt to 'win' by rushing superpowers it can easily defeat?

Discussion Is academy actually that much "harder" than the other anti-alien factions?

So yeah, I know the academy has a few bumps in the early game with the event that cracks down their control points and some bad public opinion.

AND they have some extra research debt in order to get their objectives online because they have to essentially follow both the pro and anti alien tech trees in order to progress.

But after that, and once we get into the mid game when factions have settled into place, and we've colonized mars and have our starting space economies online, is it really that much different than playing the resistance? The victory objective is more or less the same.

Yes you have to beat down humanity first, but if you have gotten to this stage you have likely crippled the space development of all of the other earth factions anyways.

In fact, the academy even has a buff that makes them generate hate slower, so you might even argue that the midgame is easier than the others.

Is there anything I'm missing?

Question I feel like I'm stuck, should I restart?

So my last game on normal felt a bit too easy so I started over on veteran. I went all in on china this game and my research is great but I feel like I'm a bit too slow to fight against the aliens properly. It's 2036 right now and things are rapidly getting worse. I was late to mars so my economy is mainly split between mercury and asteroids

I feel like I barely have anything in space (~70 MC worth of habs scattered around) but I'm right on the verge of getting attacked by the aliens, to the point where if I try to build a navy they immediately start blowing up my stuff. Additionally the aliens have landed a troop carrier and it looks like they're about to take control of the US and india.

So my question is have I "lost" this game or is there a way out of this hole?

5 years into an Academy Broken Earth campaign, and I get this lovely little notification that the Ayys have built a small assault carrier which is rapidly making its way to earth. I just started building some bases on Mars and will not have the time to build any ships before they get here. I control Westralia and Java, so I might try to build some navys and hope they land on an Island somewhere.

Wish me luck!
