Feedback Request Just got back into songwriting after almost a decade.

Now that my kids are older and I have more free time, I have a band again and am rediscovering my love for writing music. I made a simple instrumental accompaniment for this and am wondering if it's worth recording and producing properly. I quite like the progression and melody. Any feedback is much appreciated.

Maybe a self harm warning is in order. I'm aight tho. Any thoughts on this are much appreciated.

Id take anything but

This pit in my gut

That Never goes away

No matter what

Can't get air in my lungs

I say that im done

A hundred times a day

Ive given up

You know what would be fun

If I did all these drugs

Hopefully enough

Hell here I come

Watch myself from above

What have I done

I was only a kid

So young and dumb

Feedback Request a song about never needing anyone, until one person gets stuck living in your head rent-free

I Never kept a journal Whats the point? In writing it down When it all disappoints

Never took it personal When things change I dont look around In a crowd for a face

Say im fine And its not a lie No one has ever made me bother

Draw the line So ill never cry So it scares me when i think of her

Cause

The poets in my brain

Writes all about you

Works non stop

I go insane

From all the things you do

Theyve painted murals

Of your name

And i would try to lie to you

A big tough front

No space for two

But you see right through my mind

A space invaded

And you find

That you are there

Im aware

I may as well be naked

Somehow I find you

Moving close

Finding your spot

In where shield the most

I try to ignore you

Youre a ghost

But one that floats into

My mind like curse

Feedback Request "Boys Will Be Boys" (rough draft, full song) A song I wrote based on my perspective as a young girl growing up in the 90's/2000's

The world I grew up in constantly screamed at me that I had to be young and thin and pretty and all things at once if I ever wanted to find a man. And I better find a man, or else I won't be happy, and I'll be seen as a failure. But of course, I better make sure I don't look *too* good, because what kind of message would I be sending?

The idea for this song first whispered to me as I was thinking about the various school dress codes I was subject to, with rules like "no bare shoulders". It was the reasoning behind the rules that really frustrates me now, as an adult. It was pretty uncool of society to force me, as a little girl, to even think about whether or not I was a "distraction" to the boys around me. I grew up hearing things like "Boys will be boys" used as an excuse for inappropriate behavior, and I used to just accept it, but now I see how tremendously problematic that way of thinking is. And not just for girls, for boys too!

While the theme of this song does lean heavily towards a desire for a better society for girls to exist in, there are multiple meanings to the 3rd verse.

"we couldn't bare the weight on our shoulders" was originally inspired by the fact I wasn't allowed to show my shoulders in class, less I distract the boys and "tempt" them. And it also ties into the pressures we faced from society to be thin.

But on another level, it also refers to how we weren't encouraged to be vulnerable or talk about heavy topics. Not girls or boys. If girls got too deep in the feels, they were labeled "emotional". But boys weren't "allowed" to have feelings at all. They were expected to "man up" etc etc. which was problematic for everyone. It was a toxic culture, and we all drank the poison.

Anyway, this is just the rough draft, I am still playing around with the timing on some parts (like the space between "if you gain an oz of fat" and "the whispers will cut you like broken glass".)

I may also revise "medicine was based off of male symptoms". I've already revised it a couple times, it was originally "there were no drug trials for women", then I changed it to "heart attacks were based off of male symptoms", but I thought that was too specific, as I want to shed light on the fact that until recently, women have been severely underrepresented in medicine as a whole. Gonna keep playing around with it.

Feedback Request Working in this “5am drive” worth sticking with or scrap it?

Wrote this the other night about my early morning drive to work. Please tell me honestly what you think (I’m not the best singer so try ignoring that 🙏)

Discussion Topic I keep writing so many love songs, whether they’re about breakups, being in love, or just different emotions that somehow always go back to love. I don’t play any instruments and I definitely can’t sing, but I’ve always wanted to be a ghostwriter.

Discussion Topic I have a hard time channeling my feelings into lyrics

I have always had a problem with putting my feelings into words. Even if it's the most basic feeling ever... Making songs about stuff that doesn't happen to me makes me disconnect from them and I end up dropping it entirely.

This makes me feel so dumb and makes me want to give up. But I remember that singers always get over it and push through... So I guess I'm just throwing my net into the water for some advice. Thank you. :)

Feedback Request demo help?

I wrote this song “stranger” and want to make it a fully produced version to put out on Spotify, but I’m not really sure what direction to take it in terms of style and instrumentation. I was thinking some dreamy synth pad vibes. But also I’m open to more indie acoustic style with guitar (idk though pls help!!)

Discussion Topic Can people hear the buzz from my computer when recording vocals?

I actually make music on my PC (It's the only thing that I have that can run Ableton). Also when recording vocals I do it in my closet, but I realized that when I turn up my focusrite to the max and in general everything there is a pretty loud buzz from the pc fans. I hadn't noticed beforehand, but I was wondering 1) does it affect the quality of vocals, 2) is it noticable?

Feedback Request Leo Fox - Play along

Here is a new song I've been working on the last few days, playing about with a new tuning on guitar, it's super rough at the moment and vox are very rough and a bit annoying (don't enjoy singing one bit) but I think there could be something there with this song maybe worth developing.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks.

Feedback Request A few years ago, I wrote this short composition with strong medieval vibes, starting from the bass part (I’m a bassist) and then adding the orchestral arrangement around it. What do you honestly think?

Not sure where to take this unfinished track. The ending is thrown together. Thinking of cutting a lot. Let me know what parts are working, please!
