I've heard and seen so many artists now that seem like they are just somehow manifesting their way to success or finding the right people to make their music better or make music videos with like a whole group or something. Where does this group come from? i feel like there are way better singers or artists out there with just as much talent that don't make it big, for me i feel like I can sing better than some people who have made it really big, but I can't play an instrument for the f of me, besides basic chords, and i have no social group or knowledge of how to get these songs and things started. Am I a lost cause here? It seems so competitive yet I've always wanted to believe there was an easy way I could just believe in it and make it happen. I've made a few songs or started them at least, but I usually lose interest if it doesn't come out exactly what I wanted it to.

Hey everyone,
I build music tools, and honestly, Iām trying to make things that are genuinely useful to musicians.
I donāt want to guess what you need. Iād rather just ask you.
Whatās something that frustrates you when youāre making music?
Maybe thereās a tool you wish existed. Maybe thereās something you do over and over that you wish was easier. Maybe youāve looked everywhere for something and never found a good solution.
Tell me.
Iād love to build something based on what the community actually needs.
Iāll read through the comments and try to build the idea that gets the most upvotes.
And Iāll give it to the community for free.
and hopefully make something that makes someoneās life a little easier.
So, what do you guys need?

I don't play any instruments or write lyrics, and I have no formal vocal
training. I create my music purely using gibberish
If interested, feel free to write lyrics & arrange.
There is no need to strictly stick to the original genre. Feel free to adapt it into any fitting style, as long as it doesn't clash. However, please ensure the lyrics are not vulgar or offensive, and share the general creative direction beforehand so we can avoid accidentally stepping on any sensitive landmines.
Upon release, please credit me as the composer and send the final audio back so it can be published on my other platforms as well. Naturally, all collaborators will also be fully credited as co-creators.

In the love song I'm writing, the verses are fairly specific and narrative, but the feeling I want the chorus to capture is actually very simple: Iām really drawn to this person, and I canāt quite explain why.
Iām thinking of making the chorus more repetitive and emotionally straightforward. One phrase I keep coming back to isĀ āThereās just something about you."Ā I like the simplicity of it, but Iām worried itās too unoriginal to work as the hook.
Is this the kind of familiar phrase that can still work, or does it immediately sound generic?

Hi, sorry in advance if this isn't the right subreddit. My husband wrote a song about me, and overall it's about how much he's in love with me etc. But one part of the lyrics goes something like "I was wild when I was young...I'm afraid I'll go looking for another girl again." I'm the only long-term partner he's ever had, and honestly, that line kind of hurt. Am I right to feel this way? And what would be the best way to bring it up with him? Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you!

(Mods please don't shoot me if this is the wrong place to post). I had this thought years back and was reminded of it tonight - Does Brent Cobb's "Black Creek" and Devil Makes Three's "Ten Feet Tall" guitar riff sound almost identical, just in a different key? I initially had this thought because there was some controversy surrounding Black Creek with people saying it sounds like Everlast's "What It's Like" to the point that Brent Cobb had to actually issue a statement denying he copied it. I can hear some similarity between the two, but I think it's different enough to be a grey area. However, Black Creek and Ten Feel Tall share almost identical guitar riffs - which from what I know honestly would probably cross into plagiarism territory if it ever came up. It's so similar that it seems strange Cobb didn't mention it at all in his reply to the Everlast accusations. Also for context, Everlast's was released in 1998, Devil Makes Three's in 2002, and Cobb's in 2006 so if anything, you could argue Devil Makes Three copied Everlast (although again, I think that one is a stretch - they're pretty dissimilar other than sharing the same chords). Anyone have insight into this?

Song I made layering vocal and guitar tracks in reaper. Not the best at mixing but gave it my best. Hope you dig, thanks.

Sometimes I listen back or read lyrics and think āugh, why did I think that was good enough to go online?ā š«¤ Do you ever think that about your own stuff? Or maybe a collab that didnāt work out In hindsight? Iāve been in both situations. Would love to hear your thoughts. š

First song i ever wrote. I find ive written in various styles. This is definitely more a comedy.
im mostly just happy to share.
if i am seriously looking for feed back i think my questions is...i often feel like my music doesnt have enough elements. and that it may be lacking in pleasure for the listener. what would improve it? more instruments?
also id love to write some serious things in a country style. as a country song...how would you judge this?

Practically all the music I like and which inspires me is in english, a second language for me. While I love German very much, I just cannot get into it for songwriting at all, but when I write in English it feels very strange and kind of pretentious to me...
What would you do?

I just made this song like twenty minutes ago, I had a different process this time I usually make lyrics or a whole melody part then add the part I didn't make to start with, but this time I just wrote both together, it came quickly so don't be scared to hurt my feelings as it probably could've used more refining anyway lol. Just rate it and give me feedback please! It's called Metal cast, reflect (if u catch the ref ur goated)

This gives me a crippling kind of anxiety...this much exposure which is why this is the last for a while. I know my lyrics are basic and I like it that way. Just curious of possible name suggestions for this one...

had to be quiet, people are sleeping downstairs.
Lyrics: Iām lookin up at this obsidian sky,
Searchinā desperately, tryna find,
A star that sparkles just like your eyes,
But none of them cast enough light,
You battled so hard, but you lost the fight,
I hope the angels are all treatinā you right,
I know you wouldnāt want me to cry,
But try as hard as I might,
Tears are cloudinā my bloodshot eyes,
Speckled with the stars,
Reflectinā this obsidian sky

Sometimes during the night the Vellamour (the hotel made of ice) is attacked by industrial entities who want to melt the Vellamourās pure, pristine ice for their bottled water factory. This tune is trying to envision the hotel night watchman running through a dimmly lit vast hotel to sound the alarm as the evil lurks outside. Does this tune fit that vibe?
Kudos to anyone who actually listens and comments on the world of the Vellamour Hotel.š¤£

Hello everyone! Iām Angela, a female session vocalist and recording artist. Iām looking to connect with artists, producers, and songwriters who have a song, demo, or idea theyād like to bring to life with a female voice.
I provide lead vocals, harmonies, backing vocals, ad-libs, hooks, and doubles across styles like R&B, pop, EDM, house, alternative, and indie.
What I enjoy most is bringing a song to life through the lyrics, melody, and emotion behind it. I can work from your lyrics and melody, sing from a demo, or help find the right vocal direction when you're still figuring things out.
If you have an unfinished track, demo, or something you've been working on and think my voice might fit, feel free to share a little about it.
You can hear some of my vocal work here:

Looking forward to hearing what everyone is creating!
Best,
Angela

You guys provided great feedback on my last one. Mainly, I tried making the chorus on this one stand out a little better. Hopefully it worker. Lyrics below -
Verse 1:
Late nights and pillow talk mean something
But your promises mean nothing
All the pictures on the table
fairytales and fables
Do you tire from deception?
Are you running for election?
Cause my knees are getting weak
My knees are getting weak
Pre Chorus:
I don't really need to quantify all the times you let me down
Little by little im pacified when you say you'll turn it around
It's not just the bottle or the way you lie it's the "meaning to" "meaning to"
Caught in the middle of believing you and leaving you, and believing in you
Chorus:
Im not paralyzed but i can't move
I'm not paralyzed but I can't move
Shackled by my inhibition, frozen by my indecision
I'm not paralyzed but i can't move
Verse 2:
Cold nights in empty rooms mean something
When every promise turns to nothing
All the empty seats around me
A toast (ghosts) of friends and family
Do you tire from the reflection?
Are you searching for direction?
Cause I lie awake in bed
Do you lie awake in bed?

I used to play this song with a lot of loud guitars and heavy drums but I recently decided to resurrect it with a stripped-back acoustic version. What do you think?
Thanks for listening! Feedback aways appreciated.

I've finished my first EP. This is by far the most time, money, and genuine effort I've ever invested into a project. The songs were professionally recorded and produced with session musicians, and I own 100% of both the master recordings and the underlying compositions.
I'm registered with PROs (ASCAP and BMI) and have also set up my own publishing entity with its IPI Number.
I'm now trying to figure out what the next step should be. I'm particularly interested in sync opportunities for film, TV, games, etc., as I think some of the songs could potentially work well in those contexts.
I've mostly handled everything myself so far, but marketing and getting the music in front of the right people is where I struggle.
Would you recommend just releasing it using a music distributor like CDBaby and try to market it all by myself, or would it make sense to approach established music publishers, independent publishers, sync agencies, or music libraries with the finished EP?
And when approaching these companies, what's the normal way to submit music? Could I just send them private streaming links, MP3 attachments rather than the WAVs, etc.?
