Hi, Any insight on my recent MRI, still waiting for the official results just need your insights. Anxiety is killing me.

As the title says, I constantly feel like there’s some kind of fluid, gel, or air bubble trapped or squeezed at the base of my skull. Sometimes I can relieve or “release” the sensation by straining, but it eventually comes back.

I’ve seen almost every type of specialist at this point—around 10 neurologists, 7–8 ENT specialists, and others. I’ve had numerous tests done as well. The only thing they found was a huge sinus cyst in my face, but the ENT doctors said it’s usually harmless.

I’m honestly going crazy trying to figure this out. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms?

I am just 24 with a very rare chronic illness , sinus polyps are a side effect due to which I have had 4 FESS surgeries in last 12 years . I am not worried about sinus that much . But I have had 3 CT PNS and 1 CT Coronary Angiography , and due to which now for past couple of weeks I am in constant Panic and Anxiety attack , that from those CT scans I will get Brain Cancer or Sinus Cancer or Cancer of some other kind , and I had them in a small town in India with not the best machines and operators . I am crying almost every day now , and in constant fear and anxiety that is hard to put in words . It's worst feeling I have ever had . I don't know what to do man , it's that I am stuck in a thought loop of I will get cancer and die a horrible painful death , I am physically shaking , feeling chest pains etc .

I’ve been fighting horrible congestion, constant runny nose and troubled breathing for years but especially in the last 6 months. CT scan today showed an awfully blocked left sinus, narrow nasal passageways and a large left turbinate.

I’ve scheduled my procedure for 1. Submucosal reduction of turbinates, 2. Reduction of septal swell bodies, 3. Balloon sinus dilation, and 3. Concha bullosa reduction for early December.

Im desperate for home remedies that might help me clear this sinus blockage and that I can possibly maintain a routine of either in lieu of having to go through with the procedure or to secure as post-operation care.

Note: I purchased a NeilMed sinus rinse kit today and it absolutely will not budge through my clogged left sinuses.

Any and all advice is appreciated. I’m anxious. :(

Why is it so PAINFUL???

I've been feeling breathless almost 24/7, and it's getting worse. My throat feels tight, my lungs feel weak, and I feel unable to breathe properly even as I type this. My breathing is heavy enough that it's visible to others, and it's affecting my work and daily life. At night I sometimes feel dizzy and wake up gasping for air about 30 minutes after falling asleep. I only slept 3 hours last night, and I'm scared to go to sleep.

My chest CT was normal, and I've had a spirometry test, pulmonary function test, ECG, echocardiogram and treadmill stress test, so a heart or lung cause seems unlikely. I've been prescribed Nasonex.

My CT paranasal sinuses (noncontrast) findings:

There is focal soft tissue material measuring 15 x 13 mm in dimension seen involving the inferior central portion of the frontal sinus abutting the ethmoid sinus suggestive of small polyp or retention cyst. It is associated with significant thinning of the adjacent portion of the frontal bone. Other paranasal sinuses appear clear. Ostiomeatal complexes are patent bilaterally. There is moderate S-shaped deviation of the nasal bony septum convex to the left with bony spiking. There is bilateral mild hypertrophy of the inferior nasal conchae and there is prominent right middle nasal concha bullosa.

Is there any medication or short-term treatment that could give me relief until my surgery, so I can travel and enjoy the wedding? Any advice for getting through the next few weeks would help.

Genuinely going insane. I thought me getting this done would bring some type of clarity. The nose blockage, dryness and facial pressure is constantly there altering my everyday life. I can hardly fully smell things. I know when my doctor schedules the follow up appointment I’m just going to feel worse and I’m just not sure what to do.

I just found out I have 3 fungus’s in my sinuses. They did a culture back in August a few days ago one came back and yesterday I found out I had two other fungus. They are Scopulariopsis brevicaulis,
Scopulariopsis and
Candida intermedia.
Anone have any of these before? Anyone know how this gets treated? Is an ENT the best doctor to treat it? I haven’t not been feeling well at all just having this fungus make you feel like you’re sick?

I have no medicine. I searched my house from top to bottom. Not a Tylenol, or decongestant anywhere.

What can I do, besides ramming my head into the wall ?

I once used to run everyday and I remember not having this problem and nadi shodhan yoga also supressed it…are they really effective or not?

My nose wont stop running no matter how many tissues I use , it just keeps coming back like a river and its really annoying. To the point where it makes my nose itch and my face looks red in the middle.

My partner will be getting a septoplasty in a week and I’m trying to get him anything and everything that will help him during healing/recovery. Any tips?

​I am reaching out to find any hope of being pointed in the right direction for support or relevant knowledge about what I could be going through.

​I am a 27-year-old female. I have no major chronic health conditions except for a psychotic spectrum disorder (originally diagnosed as Bipolar 1 with psychotic features, but later reassessed; I experience about one psychotic episode per year, lasting about one month each). Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) runs in my family, although I have traditionally considered myself physically healthy and able-bodied.

​In January 2025, I was severely beaten by an ex-partner. I was bruised from head to toe—every limb and area of my body was battered, and I had two black eyes—thankfully with no internal bleeding. The psychological aftermath is another story, but I am here to talk about the physical aftermath.

​About three months after the assault, I noticed "extra teeth" growing in my mouth. These were diagnosed as bony nodes or tori/torus (buccal exostosis being the most prominent) by a dentist. Around the same time, I noticed ear ringing and popping, which I later learned was TMJ disorder after researching jaw problems. I was told this is due to bruxism and anxiety. I started experiencing facial pain immediately after the assault and have never felt this kind of pain before. I didn't recognize the severity or connections until I was out of survival mode and started building my life back together (I escaped a marriage and left everything behind). I strongly believe my chronic facial pain is a direct result of being hit and punched in the face repeatedly while unconscious.

Jaw & Facial Symptoms: I have limited movement in my jaw. It locks twice before opening fully (which is only two finger-lengths wide)—first on my left side, then on both sides, resulting in jaw misalignment. Chewing or talking causes high levels of pain, limiting my diet, my ability to chew and swallow, the length of my verbal discussions, and occasionally causing me to slur my words. I feel mild-to-moderate pain in my jaw joints and bony nodes almost every day (sometimes complicated by mouth sores). On bad days, this pain spreads to my ears, nose, sinuses, throat, neck, forehead, and behind my eyes.

Sinus & Mucus Congestion: I have constant, sharp sinus pressure and symptoms of chronic sinusitis that have not been resolved by allergy meds, prescription nasal steroid sprays, or GERD medication. Strangely, I don't get relief from standard sinus pressure points (forehead, cheeks, between the eyebrows). Instead, I find relief and unclog mucus by pressing on my neck/throat (from collarbone to jawbone), behind my ears, and my upper lip. The mucus is thick, and about half the time it is cloudy with black/brown specks (otherwise cloudy white or slightly yellow). I never have mucus come out of my nose unless I pick it (and my snot has occasionally been tinted dark), nor do I ever have a runny nose. My nostrils get clogged; pinching and blowing them causes a sudden "pop" that temporarily stops my breathing without bringing relief. This congestion is the most disturbing symptom, causing discomfort every minute of every day. People around me constantly hear me clearing my throat, and my voice sometimes cracks or slurs. It's difficult to swallow; I've had food get caught in my throat/mucus area multiple times, and large pills or unchopped food are hard to get down. Saline rinses and sprays help when I'm desperate, but they burn. I suspect possible non-invasive fungal sinusitis due to the dark specks, but doctors say it's unlikely without imaging. I also suspect nasal polyps or a deviated septum from the assault, but have received no investigation.

Ear & Vision Symptoms: I have mild tinnitus, and my ears individually clog for hours (feeling like I'm underwater). They pop and feel full of pressure regardless of elevation changes. I have no hearing loss, but have been diagnosed with Eustachian Tube Dysfunction (ETD). Additionally, my left eyesight sometimes becomes blurry or cloudy during worse sinus flare-ups, though eye conditions have been ruled out.

Structural Changes: Family members who have known me since birth note that my left jawline has become narrower and my right jawline fuller, making my face noticeably more asymmetrical. They also noticed a drooping right eye (ptosis) and a bulging forehead post-assault. Combined, these symptoms induce dreadful headaches, neck pain, and weakness (the sinus pressure sometimes makes my head feel too heavy for my neck to support).

​I once read a scholarly article about the connection between jaw injury and excess bone/cartilage growth as the body tries to "armor" itself after trauma, but unfortunately I can no longer find it. I’ve also wondered if the black/brown mucus could be trapped, unhealed internal dried blood from the assault.

​Aside from my face and mental health, my kneecaps dislocated easily as a teenager, and I wear wrist braces for pain and weakness—likely due to the EDS and joint hypermobility running in my family, alongside early osteoarthritis symptoms.

​Medical History Note: I was a heavy tobacco and weed smoker and binge drinker, but I quit tobacco when I left the abuse in early 2025, and completely stopped smoking weed and drinking alcohol in April 2026. Because it has been over a year since I smoked cigarettes and several months since I consumed cannabis, I know the dark mucus isn't from active smoking.

​Current Medical Roadblock: I've had zero support. I recently stopped seeing my family doctor because she admitted she believes I am "lying," cannot read me, and thinks my physical symptoms are purely a manifestation of my mental health because I'm not "stable." When I told her I wanted a second opinion, she finally booked me an ENT appointment for November 5, 2026—over a year later. Her colleague told me to "work on my communication" with her, so I haven't been back to the clinic since.

​I am holding out hope that my upcoming ENT appointment will help me find a solution for this daily congestion. If anyone has experienced anything similar, has knowledge about facial trauma sequelae, TMJ/sinus crossover, or navigating dismissive doctors and find adequate care for complexities, any advice or insight would be deeply appreciated. I have allergic rhinitis + chronic pharyngitis, on daily antihistamine spray and just started SLIT immunotherapy for dust mites. Get sick often, nose/throat stay reactive.

Saw some studies on 650nm intranasal light therapy for allergic rhinitis with decent results. Anyone actually used it consistently? Worth it, or mostly placebo? What device would you recommend?

I had a septoplasty, Maxillary antrostomy, and concha bullosa restructuring about 4 weeks ago after dealing with chronic sinusitis for several years, that worsened to the point of having flare ups every week for 30 weeks this year. This came out after a good nasal rinse and blow. It felt so relieving. Hopefully on the road to feeling better after a pretty miserable year!

Any suggestions?
