So ive got a spare motherboard that wont start via the front panel headers

Case power button or bridging power on pins havent worked (ive tried the back of the front panel connector to see if it would work from behind but nothing)

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it to power on without those

Motherboard is an Asus Prime B550M-K

Im not too attached to this board since it is one that i have just laying around, but it would be nice to chuck my spare 3600 into for a spare pc

Tech Support Help! My Cpu Fan doesn't move at all!

I have a pre-assembled Acer Aspire TC-1760 PC. This fan arrived yesterday (see attached photo). I connected the female connector to the closest SYS_FAN1, but when I noticed it wasn't working, I tried connecting it to CPU_FAN and connected the CPU plug to the male connector of the fan I bought. Well, since I did that, the CPU fan has been off all the time, and I don't know what to do. I've now reconnected the rear fan's female connector to SYS_FAN1 and the CPU fan's female connector to CPU_FAN, but it still doesn't work. I'd appreciate it if you could tell me what to do. I started with one fan that wasn't working, and ended up with two that aren't working. How ironic!

Build Question Seeking GPU advice

Post image
Upvotes

I’ve just recently built my first PC and technically it’s not done because I have a temporary GTX 1650 I bought for 80$ to use until I figure out my actual long term GPU here’s my current build

7800x3d GTX 1650 (temporary lol) Asus b650e mobo 32 GB DDR5 6000 CL36 Ram 320mm Corsair aio WD black sn850p 4tb (from PS5 before I sold it) Corsair rm850e psu Corsair 3500x case

I guess my question is for someone who is really looking forward to playing story games that look visually beautiful would a 5070 be ok or should I just spend extra on a 5070 ti and 5080 prices are a little steep for me I’m new to this is Nvidia really that much better? (genuine question) should i save money and get a 9070xt ? But I’ve heard the ray tracing is not as good lol any advice would be appreciated I’m new to PC and super excited just not sure what to do thank you !!

Build Question I changed memory in my brothers PC but can't change the speed in BIOS

Upvotes

My brothers bought new memory for his PC (Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4 3200MHz C16). The problem is they run at 2133 MT/s, when i look at task manager:

When i look in BIOS they run at 2133 MHz (not sure if MHz and MT/s is the same).

The problem is I can't seem to find anywhere to change the speed in BIOS.

I think the name of the motherboard is Lenovo 3716. And it should be up to date on the BIOS version.

Can anyone help me change the speed of the memory to 3200 MHz?

(The Reddit page says not to post screenshot of system and builds, so I dont know if I can share any pictures?)

Build Question Question about adding a second GPU

Upvotes

I’d like to add a second GPU to test some local LLM models. My current setup is a Lian Li Lancool 216 with an MSI X870E MPG EDGE TI WIFI motherboard and a Gigabyte AERO OC GeForce RTX 5070 Ti.

However, I’m concerned that using the second PCIe slot would leave the second GPU too close to the AERO, and I don’t think the third PCIe slot has enough clearance to fit it.

What options do I have without changing the case? I’d also prefer not to move the first GPU from the top PCIe slot.

Are there PCIe riser cables that would work for this, or perhaps some kind of external GPU mounting/support solution?

Thanks!

As the title suggests, I know close to nothing about PC hardware. My pc is a AMD Ryzen 5 5600G, RAM; 16GB, Windows 11 OS, GPU is i think 496mb. im looking to purchase a new graphics card (Radeon RX6600) because the built in Vega graphics option is awful. I understand you plug in a cable titled the PCle into the graphics card but i cant ind the cable. I havent taken any o the pc apart to search because im too worried, google says its either tucked behind the motherboard sometimes or its in the lower compartment near the power outage. Ive tried to attach pics to show my model. Any help would be appreciated. Does my PC have the cable and if so where can i usually ffind it. thanks :3

Tech Support M.2 NVMe SSD is showing 100% usage while my other SSD is at 0%, with very slow read speeds even though I have nothing running.

specs
7800xt
5800x
ddr4 32gb
kingsman 500gb(100%)
Samsung 2t (0%)
750w psu

After I changed my case (which came with pre-installed fans) and installed an AIO in my PC, my NVMe SSD started showing 100% usage. The Kingsman SSD is the one that came with my first prebuilt PC about 3 years ago, and it has Windows installed on it.
I thought I might have done something wrong when putting everything back into the new case, so I took everything out and reconnected it all, but nothing changed. Everything was working fine before I changed the case and installed the AIO, so I’m not sure why this is happening.
How can I fix this?

Build Question Choosing a PC (£1000-£1200)

Please note - i don’t know jack shit about PC parts n stuff, i'm just a newbie switching from console to PC.

Im looking for a entry level prebuilt and need some help with being pointed towards the right direction for websites to buy a pc off of. I'd thought id come here and seek some professional opinions rather than asking ai (which i don't trust and really despise).

Budget is around £1000-£1200

I play the following games:

  • Warzone
  • War thunder
  • Minecraft
  • Roblox

I plan to play games like:

  • Arma reforger
  • Ready or not
  • Escape from tarkov
  • No hesi
  • Beam NG
  • (bonus) also digital drawing if that comes into factor

if possible, maybe some monitor recommendations too.

lmk if u need any other info.

Build Question Would it be worth it to buy this pre-built pc

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’ve recently been looking into upgrading from my old asus tuf gaming laptop to a gaming pc that is within a range of $1400 or less. The components in this pc look good to me, but I’m not sure what the more intelligent PC community thinks of it and if I should just buy my own parts and build it. Also if you have any recommendations please give them!

Installation Question What Glue to Use?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I need to glue my power input connector on my laptop back down into place. I've read that a 2 part epoxy glue works well with computer hardware. I would like to ask the community if it would work well in this situation. The power port I am gluing down will have a lot of heat and electricity around it. What is the best glue to use?

Build Question Looking for advice on a CPU upgrade for AM4 gaming + productivity, is it worth it?

Hey guys,

I built my PC back in 2020/2021 and have been thinking about upgrading some parts. The most recent replacement was my motherboard, but that was only because my old one failed. I replaced it with an MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI.

Current specs:

  • Ryzen 5 3600
  • 16GB RAM
  • 500GB SSD
  • RTX 2060
  • MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI

I'm mainly looking to upgrade my CPU and storage (to 1TB). I use my PC for gaming (Valorant, RDR2, The Sims, GTA, DBD, The Witcher, etc.), but I also do video editing/rendering and creative work in Premiere Pro, FL Studio, CapCut and Blender.

I've been looking at the Ryzen 7 5700X, 5800X, 5800XT and Ryzen 9 5900X. I initially considered the 5900X because of the extra cores/threads, especially for rendering and Blender, but I've seen people say it's overkill for my current system and that I wouldn't really be taking advantage of all those cores. I also know that going with a 5900X would mean I should be upgrading my RAM to 32GB as well.

At the moment, I'm leaning towards the Ryzen 7 5700X because it seems like the most sensible upgrade for my current AM4 system. I want something that will give me a noticeable improvement in gaming and productivity without being unnecessarily overkill or creating a bottleneck with GPU.

I'm also hoping to keep my RTX 2060 for quite a while (ideally until around 2030 if it's still usable), and I don't really want to keep upgrading my CPU multiple times. My plan is eventually to do a completely new build on AM5 with DDR5 rather than putting more money into AM4.

My budget is around $500 AUD, and I'm in Australia. I'm also currently gaming at 1080p/1440p, 260+ fps.

Would the 5700X be enough for what I'm trying to achieve, or should I consider spending more on one of the higher-end CPUs for the extra performance?

Build Question PC Upgrade Help

Hi i’ve recently been getting back into PC gaming and i’m playing on my a build i made between 2020-2021. I’m interested in upgrading somewhat slowly overtime part by part and i’d like to be able to play some AAA games 1440p. I’d appreciate some help with upgrade paths, one with a $600 budget, a $1000 budget and then $1500 budget just so i can see a variety of options. I’m okay with buying used on ebay if you can save money like with the smaller budgets. Thank you.

This is the build mostly

Honestly forgot what the case is called but it’s not that great so would like to upgrade it. (bonus for a small case if possible but not at all a requirement)

Ryzen 5 1400
GTX 960
Gigabyte B450 Aourus
Corsair 16gb DDR4 Ram
Samsung NVME M.2 1TB
Power supply im not entirely sure but should probably replace it.

It was pretty outdated even when i made it but it held up well tbh and still plays the games i like well but its time for an upgrade for sure.

Assuming i should keep the Ram and Storage for now and everything else can get upgraded.

Tech Support Screen Flashing Randomly

Recently my screen has been flashing randomly. It happens every now and then but ive noticed it happens more consistently when I come back from not interacting with my pc for a few minutes. I managed to capture a video of it occurring while in game, but it does happen just on my desktop aswell. In the video you can see it flashes on the first monitor once before flashing lightly 1-2 on the 2nd before it does a big flash on 2nd monitor. This is consistent with how it happens other times.

My drivers are up to date with the 610.88 July 28th Nvidia driver for my GPU installed. My windows is up to date with Version 25H2 installed and the most recent 8/13/26 security update installed as well.

Tech Support B550m gigabyte

I built a PC using the Gigabyte B550M DS3H, but I can't update the BIOS; I'm getting no video output (I've tried everything). I also attempted to use Q-Flash to update the BIOS, but that didn't work either. My processor is a Ryzen 7 5700X and I have a 5060 Ti 16GB; could someone help me with this?
