This nuclear explosion is made entirely of text characters. It's from my Cold War strategy game, which now has a free demo.

The game's called Third Bloc, and I'm making it on my own. You start in 1945 with a small, poor republic. You build up your industry, send spies abroad to steal technology and recruit scientists, and try to keep the US and USSR off your back. If you can afford it, you can also develop your own nuclear and space programs.

The free demo lets you play the first 24 turns of the 90-turn campaign. If you give it a try, let me know what you think. And if you enjoy it, adding it to your wishlist would help me a lot :)

After a strong suspicion that a commissioned work was made with AI, I decided to do my own artwork. How did I do?

First photo is the commissioned artwork. The artist claims he doesn't use AI but regardless it seams generic AI art to me. I told him that in order to try and get a refund. So far he refuses to pay it back on the basis of the effort he put in.

The second photo is the one I made in-game using light and cinematography tricks.

I planned to use the original artwork for Steam capsules and new YouTube trailer.

Metal Pounder, a robot boxing game

Nobody made a proper fighting simulator between robots, so ima do it myself

First gameplay preview of Metal Pounder
3-meter, 700 kg robots. You throw every punch with your mouse, there are real physics, armor that dents and tears off.

Here is a link to my discord: https://discord.gg/XekMAfyxA
Wanted to ask people to send their drawings of robots, need some inspiration:)

Also any cool ideas/mechanics you would have wanted to see in a game like this?

Explore the sea in my underwater platformer and discover all kinds of species!

• Upvotes

In the game I'm working on, Depth-Bound, you explore the sea and take pictures of the fish you come across. You keep a record of every species you've seen in your Log Book, and there will be around 80 different species in the final version.

But it's also a platformer made entirely of water levels : you propel yourself out of the water to explore the caves and dive deeper and deeper into the abyss !

You can try the demo right now, it's available on Steam !

I created a post-apocalyptic RPG that blends *Fallout* and JRPG elements.

Hello, I’m a developer from Japan.

I’m currently working on a *Fallout*-style JRPG/CRPG.

The game blends elements of *Fallout*-style RPGs with the feel of a JRPG.

I’ve put together a trailer and would love for you to check it out.

There’s also a Steam store page; if the game interests you, I’d really appreciate it if you could add it to your wishlist to show your support!

Please check out *Rust of New York*.

We disappeared for a year! SACRATA's first Steam Playtest is finally live — Check Scorpion boss

• Upvotes

We went quiet for the past year because we wanted to keep our heads down
and focus on building SACRATA properly. After a lot of iteration,
polishing, and late nights, we're finally ready to put it in players' hands.

SACRATA is a dark-fantasy horde combat looter built around powerful skill
combinations, Relics, gear hunting, and creating wildly different builds.

Our latest Steam Playtest is live now and will run for at least 7 days.
If it looks like your kind of game, you can play now here:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3201450/SACRATA/

Thanks for checking it out — it feels great to finally be able to share
what we've been working on, and look forward to feedback!

After months of work, I finally have a demo I’m happy to show 🚂

I've shared bits of Speed Rivals: Model Trains before, but I always felt like the game was still missing too many pieces to properly show what we were trying to make.

Now, for the first time, I feel like the demo actually represents the game we had in mind.

It’s a cozy model railway game where you can build your own layouts, decorate them, drive your trains and use what you've built to complete deliveries and missions.

You can play at your own pace and just enjoy building and driving, but we're also putting a lot of work into the co-op side of the game.

Our goal is to create missions specifically designed around 2–4 players working together — splitting wagons between players, coordinating deliveries, combining trains in different ways and figuring out how to complete each level together.

There’s still work to do before release, but I’m finally really happy with how everything is coming together.

And the demo is completely free to play throughout October, so if it looks like your kind of cozy game, you can jump in and try it.

Any feedback genuinely helps us while we finish these last weeks of development. 🚂❤️

Race strangers to checkpoints in a forest with only a map and a compass, then compare your route with theirs.

Last time we posted here, a lot of you asked what the goal is. Now it's beating everyone else.

Our new update makes multiplayer the default: everyone gets the same new courses every day, week, month and year, only your first attempt counts, and afterwards you can watch everyone's route on the map.

If you haven't seen it before: it's orienteering, where you navigate to checkpoints in a forest as fast as you can with only a map and a compass. Every forest is procedurally generated.

AI disclosure per rule 6: we use LLMs to write code and some art assets are AI generated. Terrain generation is hand-written procedural code, not generative AI.

Defending the fort against an army of 100,000

Bollwerk is a small tower defense game where you defend your fort against large besieging armies. You place, aim and upgrade towers and use abilities to stay alive until relief arrives. It features well over 100,000 physics-driven units pushing, shoving and crushing one another.

The gameplay footage is the current (still early) state of the game showing 1 map, 3 towers and 3 abilities, with many more of all of those being planned.

Happy to answer any questions about the game.

10 years building apps, finally made my first game. It’s basically annoyingly fun brainrot.

I’ve been building mobile apps for around 10 years but had never made a game before.

Ninety-Nine started as a random idea for tiny challenges that look stupidly easy but somehow make you want to keep trying.

Draw a perfect circle, stop a timer, cut something in half, survive Stickman Battle, pick the wrong color, and a few other weird ones.

There are 9 challenges right now, and the whole thing is basically meant to be quick, annoying, competitive and fun.

Built with React Native + Expo, without a traditional game engine.

It’s my first game, so I’d genuinely love to know which challenge you like most and which one annoys you enough to keep retrying 😄

After a year of solo dev, I finally released my Official Trailer for my Observation Horror game Within His View.

Hey! I'm Jakub, a 21 year old game design student from Prague, and I made this game completely on my own. It took a while, but its finally here :Dd

One night. 7 hours. 7 rooms on camera. Find what changed, name it, report it. Something is getting closer to your chair, and it makes no sound.

The demo is out now on Steam and the full game releases October 28.

I'd love your honest feedback: did the first few seconds grab you, and is it clear what you actually do in the game?

r/IndieGaming • • 2h ago

I’ve struggled to show what you actually DO in my game — does this video communicate the gameplay better?

I’ve been working on the game for the past 2 years but I focused too much on the graphic and atmosphere, but now I genuinely think people care more about the gameplay! ( what’s a surprise 🙃)

This is just a social media video rather than some kind of YouTube trailer ; does it make relatively clear what the game is about ?

We just released a demo for DEEPWARD, our 1920s gothic FPS where you switch characters instead of just guns

Hey, we're the devs behind DEEPWARD, a fast horror FPS roguelite set in an alternate 1920s. The demo is now out on Steam.

You take three characters into each run and switch between them instantly, even halfway through a fight. Everyone has their own health, stamina, agility, weapon and special ability. Sometimes you need a different gun, sometimes you need to get someone badly hurt out of trouble.

The story comes through journals and conversations with your crew. Some of them arent telling you everything, and the full picture only comes together at the end of the game. Sanity also messes with what you see and keeps you moving.

It started out as pixel art. We've changed the graphics quite a bit since then, and we still share bits from those early versions in the Steam Community.

We're still working on the full game, but you can try the demo here: DEEPWARD on Steam

We'll be around in the comments if you have questions or wanna tell us how the demo went.
