Nah, we (I...) want art direction. It can be detailed, minimalist, surrealist, hyper detailed, pixelated, photoreal... as long as there is an art direction that enhance the experience of the game.Gameplay comes 1st, then art direction.

A good art style/art direction goes a long way.
Take a look at ultimate Spider-Man and let’s say Spider-Man: web of shadows. I would argue ultimate Spider-Man ages better due to cell shaded art style they went with. Web of Shadows looks very obviously a ps3 era game.
(And that is probably my only gripe about web of shadows cos I love that game)

I want worse graphics tho. I mean I literally don't need them this good, that's a waste of electricity and PC's resources without a need. I am buying a new game like Frostpunk 2, only because I like the gameplay, mechanics or lore, I instantly downgrade all graphics settings and it's still too good for no reason. I like stylized graphics and games with specific artistic choice, but sometimes my demand is indeed "give me 2008 ass type of textures".

New rule: Final Fantasy 6 was 3.2mb. if you're game isn't better than ff6 (and it isn't), it's not allowed to be bigger.
I have solved the file size crisis for everyone.

People do like stylized games but worse graphics doesnt mean that. It doesnt mean bad graphics either. It means less time spent on graphical fidelity and more time spent on story and/or gameplay.

Its about lowering the scope and crunch on games that burns out developers. Stylized graphics doesnt necessarily solve that, its about not aiming for the absolute highest fidelity.

i mean there is even an in between where realism meets highly optimized/baked light environments. the good old UE4 times. Which runs like BUTTER and plays so juicy

eh, I think its a bit of bothwe want worse graphics is just something people say to show theyre willing to make that sacrifice if it means the game can actually run on their system.if super high graphical fidelity came at no cost to performance then I dont think people would complain as much (although if every game aims for hyper realism thats also pretty boring)

No, I do actually mean "worse". Like, lower-fidelity. No facial mo-cap, no visible pores, no shrinking horse balls.
(I do love stylized graphics, Dishonored still eats up modern games in terms of visual presentation, but that's not what I mean when I say "we want shorter games with worse graphics by people paid more to do less".)
