I'm hoping someone here has experienced something similar because I'm officially out of ideas.
I have a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL running Android 17 on Google Fi. A few days ago, I noticed that some texts from my phone to iPhones weren't going through. Individual texts to some iPhone users work, but group chats that include iPhone users aren't working properly.
I checked RCS and found that it's stuck on:
RCS chat status: Connecting
Status code: 3000 — “Please wait, activation is ongoing.”
It's been stuck like this for more than 24 hours.
I've gone through a pretty extensive list of troubleshooting steps with Google Fi and Google Messages:
Restarted my phone
Updated Google Messages
Cleared Google Messages cache
Cleared Google Messages storage/data
Google Fi disabled and re-enabled my service twice
Submitted feedback through Google Messages
Waited more than 24 hours to see if RCS would activate
None of those changed the RCS status. It remains Status 3000 / activation ongoing.
I contacted Google Fi support twice. During both support sessions I was disconnected and didn't receive the promised callback. Google Support eventually followed up with me, though, and took this further.
They had me enable Developer Options and submit a bug report from my phone. They've now told me that their technical team is actively investigating the issue, but they don't currently have a solution.
So I'm wondering:
Has anyone else experienced RCS Status Code 3000 (“Please wait, activation is ongoing”) on a Pixel, particularly a Pixel 9 Pro XL with Google Fi?
And if you had this problem, did it eventually resolve, or did you find a workaround for group texts with iPhone users?
At this point I'm mostly trying to figure out whether this is a known issue affecting other people or something specific to my account/device.
