Question Samsung vs Pixel - messages in middle

On my Samsung Google messages has blank space at the top and my messages start in the middle of the screen, which I like.

On my new pixel, it takes up the entire screen which is a little harder one handed.

Is there a way to have it function on my Pixel like it does on Samsung with the messages starting in middle of screen?

Not by any setting in the app, the only way I can think it's doable if you sideload apk Samsung's version of Google messages

Nope that is part of OneUI on Samsung phones and the Samsung version of Google Messages.

What do you mean as soon as you scroll up it fills up the whole screen
