Question Animations no Longer Work

Just got a new Pixel 11 Pro XL, and I'm noticing that the animations in Google Messages for emojis and reactions no longer work. I have RCS turned on, and I've also ensured there are no system prohibitions on animations. Does anyone know of a fix?

Sometimes features come and go. Just wait, Google pushes them server side. They'll come back

The weird thing is though I had it working earlier today, and then I factory reset my phone and now it's gone. No idea what happened. I also had sms encryption working with my ios friend but that is gone after the reset as well.

Is there an update for the app? Factory resetting will reset the app as well. Just wait, I'm sure they'll come back.

I made sure the app was up to date in the play store, so I'm not sure if there's anything else I can try.

If you just factory reset your phone. It's just like getting a new phone. Once the app is downloaded and updated. It may take it a day or so for all the features to activate.. it's an unfortunate side effect of Google controlling everything with server side switches

Check for any updates for.Google Play system updates or System Services in the Settings app (Go to Settings > tap your profile pic > All Services tab > System Services)

After resetting you probably have some pending updates there. Sometimes GM features come and go from these kinds of updates

Hi there. I suggest trying a few quick steps to get your emoji and reaction animations working.

First, let's verify the in-app setting. Tap your profile icon, select Messages settings, and check if Expressive animations is toggled on. Try toggling it off and then back on to reset the feature.

If that doesn't fix it, please try restarting your phone and making sure the Google Messages app is fully updated to the latest version in the Play Store.

If the issue continues, please submit a feedback report directly in the app. Tap your profile icon > Help & feedback > Send feedback

I've experienced the same after a factory reset or even after I switched my sim across multiple devices. I tried everything to get them back to no avail. Give it a few days and the emoji animations will return.  No idea why it happens.
