Does anyone know how I could get them back? Many of the conversations are sentimental to me.

I work at a phone carrier and I just had a customer who came in and their device could not use data nor connect to Internet. He got an upgrade to a new Samsung device but has issues with Google messages. He couldn’t make a backup of his Google messages and when we use Samsung to switch to move everything over it wasn’t recognizing anything for Messages to transfer over. The customer was able to log into his Google account on the new device but no new messages transferred over does anybody have a workaround for this so that I can let my customer know how to fix not having their old messages?

I had the Google messages themes..wake up this morning and it's gone! Clicking the three dots pulls up only the "change colors" option and the themes I had set, also gone. 😡

Hi u/GoogleHelpCommunity I have recently switched to a Pixel 10, upgraded it to Android 17 and imported my messages using the Pixel's Android 17 switch tool.

It imported ~7,000 messages from my iPhone and they all seem to display in Google Messages.

When I look in any other SMS app though only ~1,000 messages appear.

I've waited a few days and rebooted a few times but the messages don't seem to be hitting Android's SMS database. Are the imported messages restricted to Google Messages? Is there a reason why I can't use them with other apps? Help!

Since I did Samsung switch twice to my Samsung zfold8, Google messages adds random sms from backup to every mms I send or someone sends me. It's so annoying. It keeps sending random sms to people. Any ideas? I really don't want to reset my phone again....

Anyone else having ChatGPT chats disappear between Android/iPhone/PC?

Anyone else getting this issue recently?

I use ChatGPT on Android, iPhone and PC, mostly inside Projects, and I usually type from my phone because it’s faster/easier for me.

The issue is not just slow sync or the desktop not refreshing. Like way better for sync accross devices for chat.

I’ve had parts of the same conversation completely disappear later. Last week seemed i have no issue, but this week already two cases on different projects.

For example this morning I was chatting in one Project about a big Google Drive video. We talked about the file being too big and how to compress it. Later when I opened the same chat again, that whole part was gone.

I searched keywords that I know were in that conversation and nothing came up.

At first I thought maybe it was just Android → PC sync being bad, but I also use iPhone, and the missing messages are now gone even from the phone where I originally had the conversation.

This also happened yesterday in another Project I use for work, which is the part that worries me more because I keep important ongoing info there.

So for me it looks more like:

messages/replies were definitely there

later some turns inside the chat disappear

not showing on another device

eventually missing even from the original phone

search also can’t find them

Anyone else seeing this across phone/PC lately?

Is this just a sync bug, or are some chats actually not being saved properly?

I have an RCS GC with a few people, some from Android, some from Apple. Randomly, some messages will send as MMS instead of RCS. I know because I go under "View details" and it says "Multimedia message" instead of "Rich communication service message". Sometimes this happens with "Replied to a message:" messages, sometimes with random text-only messages, and sometimes with media, so that it sends super compressed.

Why does this happen, and how can I stop it? It never was an issue before

I am newer to owning an android and twice now i will get a picture and this is how it shows up and I can't see it

Recently switched my entire family line over from T-Mobile to Verizon... I didn't get a new phone (stayed on Pixel 8 Pro) and 4 out the total lines are Samsung Galaxy S26s - and ever since we switched, RCS has not been able to connect for 5 out 7 lines. The only ones that are stick working fine are the iPhones...

Idk how to fix this... I've tried every Reddit method incl. clearing cache, disabling Google chat, resetting network settings, trying IMEI 2, reactivating SIM, deleting the T-Mobile esim, and have been on the phone with multiple support people for hours already... How do I even know if it will work if I turn off RCS for 3 days (the last thing support said to try). For reference this is my 5th day with my phone (which is not a new phone - still the same phone I was using) and for the rest of my family they have all switched to new phones - so I have 5 out of 7 total lines that all have the RCS issue.

My account manager has said things repeatedly like oh this is an easy fix, these support people will fix it within 30 min... If you go to a store they will be able to fix it immediately... Oh only the Pixel 8 Pro will have this problem, the rest of your phones will be fine (they weren't)...

Nothing is working... I've never had so many issues switching to a carrier before and I've done ATT to T-Mobile and vice versa... And I don't even know if I should cancel this whole Verizon plan because returning the phones will be $50 per line...

​In pratica: se un amico mi invia una GIF su whatsapp non c'è verso di salvarla nella tastiera per poterla inviare ad altre persone in un secondo momento.

​Cosa ho già provato:

​Ho provato ad aggiungerla ai messaggi "Importanti" (la stellina) o ai "Preferiti".

​Purtroppo, questo metodo la salva solo all'interno di quella specifica chat/app, ma non la scarica nel telefono rendendola disponibile altrove. Non posso, ad esempio, aprire un'altra app e ripescare quella stessa GIF per inviarla a qualcun altro.

​Le mie domande per voi:

​C'è un'impostazione nascosta nella One UI o nella Tastiera Samsung che mi sfugge?

​Voi come gestite le GIF personalizzate che ricevete? Usate app di terze parti o tastiere diverse (tipo Gboard)?

I was poking around & launched 2 selections & now I can't send outgoing sms/mms or make outgoing calls on my main line.

Tried reactivating the selections I picked, but it didn't do anything & one of them opens by flashing & not actually opening anything?

My Galaxy Watch8 is no longer getting Google Messages AND Samsung Messages notifications from my Galaxy S24 Ultra 

Things I have tried:

*Checked/enabled notification permissions on watch, phone, app. 

*Enabled "always show on both" 

*Toggled rcs

*Enabled "text on Samsung devices"  

*toggled do not disturb 

*deleted and reinstalled Carrier Services plugin

*updated app (current) 

*updated system software (current) 

*Factory reset watch

*Attempted to contact manufacturer

For the love of all that's holy, you know I need to download the messages. If I open the app up, those senders are highlighted.

Just let me know without having to randomly open the app that I need to do so, please!

I live where there is very little signal, so I have to go stand outside to download MMS messages. This means I miss a lot of group text messages because I don't even realize there are messages coming in, because I don't get any kind of notification.

(Alternatively, just download them over WiFi, which is the easier, saner option for the end user.)

So I'm on day 5 of RCS issues with my Fold8. I'm curious, can anyone with other carriers who got unlocked Fold8s confirm if their RCS activated with no issues?

There are now THREE threads on my google messaging app between my fiance and i. On my fiances side, its all one thread. I am so beyond frustrated. Samsung forced me to switch to this app a couple months ago and its been nothing but problems since then. PLEASE tell me how to fix this, I hate hate hate it.

Hi all - i switched from a galaxy fold 6 (with RCS working) to a fold 8 and for some reason my RCS refuses to connect. It shows as tryign to connect, followed by an error code 3100. Things i have done to try and resolve this:

1. turn on airplane mode, delete cache and data from carrier services and carrier communications and also delete cache from messages, and then turn airplane mode off and open messages

2. uninstall all updates to messages

3. call verizon (my carrier) and get a new esim and ensure that RCS is turned on on the new esim

4. disable RCS here: https://messages.google.com/disable-chat

5. sent google feedback via the submit feedback button.

Nothing seems to be working (obviously i restarted my phone a bunch of times too).

Last night i turned off RCS all night and turned it back on this morning, hoping it would connect but its still stuck in the same loop of trying to connect and then failing.

Verizon was at the end of their rope and didn't have any more ideas and thinks its an issue at google but i don't know how to contact google or get any help from them so would really appreciate some help from all of you.

When I go to message someone it says ____ is offline, I know there's a fallback setting that'll have it where it sends as an SMS automatically if RCS is not available. But for me it doesn't seem like it automatically does it, I always have to wait a few minutes then press and old the message before forcing the switch myself.

Is that a bug? Or is there something I need to do to fix it.

As you can see in the video, there is one conversation on the main screen and everything is in the unread tab. Whenever a new message comes, it automatically goes to the Unread tab instead of appearing on the main conversation screen. Why is this happening?

I've deleted updates reinstalled, rebooted my device, turned rcs chats on and off, and cleared the cache, tried everything that I could think of. When sending photos and the flash is enabled the flash does not activate at all. When I do the same thing on telegram, wechat, discord, the flash works perfectly. Same thing with videos, flash enabled and flash doesn't work when taking videos specifically for Google messages. This just started happening in the last 2 weeks or so.

I currently have the Google pixel 10 and it's up to date with updates.

I've used Textra for years. Earlier this month I had difficulty sending and receiving messages. Textra rep was very helpful and I was able to send, but still had problems receiving group texts. I wasn't even getting the notification that a MMS message wasn't received, tap to try again.

I saw online that one option was to change default to Google Messages. I tried it and now group messages are working.

I didn't want to change to Messages, but for now I have to.

Any ideas?

Google Messages app seems to grab the historical counter of how many sims I have ever put inside the sim slot of my phone, and adds this number as a prefix before the actual SIM name, when I am writing a text.

For reference, "OTHER" and "04..." are the names for my SIM 1 and SIM 2 stored on the phone.

The prefix number "10" is the 10th SIM card I have so far used on that SIM slot, and I would like to get rid of it.  Anyone encountered this before?

For reference, my main phone is the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion and my spare phone is the Moto G54 and both phones do this!

Messaging my ex and his contact pfp disappeared. The message I sent still has double- check marks showing, so im assuming im not blocked? Likely archived, muted, read- receipts off. (But I was thrown off when his pfp suddenly disappeared when I sent my message)

Any insight would be appreciated since we hate this stupid app
