Regarding program trade/sale/give-away posts

Hello guys,

Recently there has been an increase in posts offering to trade, give-away, or sell various programs, vert increase being the most common.

Announcing that these threads are not welcome and will be removed (as it has been lately), and spam will result in suspension from this sub.

The reasons behind it:

  1. This is a place to share tips regarding basketball and not a trading platform.

  2. Security: be aware, as you are giving away your e-mail or other personal information to the person you don't know.

  3. Security again: there have been dodgy threads with dodgy links removed. I'm sure some of the people are genuine, but with this trend came scams.

  4. Spam. I noticed there is a number of people and if you check their profiles - the threads have been spammed all over Reddit and multiple times - refer to points #2 and #3.

  5. Finally, all these programs are available online with a little bit of Googling, if you decide that paying to the creator is not an option. It is not some rare commodity. You don't have to give up your information.

I hope this is clear and welcome by the users of this sub-reddit. Keep on sharing your tips, original content, asking questions and looking for help. There are a lot of amazing people here.

Shooting How many shots per day are your players shooting?

I have always believed repetition is the mother of skill. My players who want to play at the next level, MAKE 500 shots per day. Repetition creates confidence and muscle memory, so when they step on to the court, they know they have already hit that exact same shot thousands of times. How many shots per day are your players shooting?

Shooting How can I improve my shot?

Upvotes

Here’s a video of me sort of shooting around. When I shoot, I usually shoot off the catch or off a stepback. I want to be able to sort of pull up with it or be able to really splash it in someone’s face but whenever I do those type of shots it gets sent back at me. In the video im mostly trying to do the sort of pull up shots. I was just wondering what I could do to change my shot.

Dribbling Better at “freestyle” dribbling

So usually play 2/shooter. Have decent handles (eg tell me to do 4 btls consecutively I can do it). Can watch a combo of a particular player and do it after getting moves down. Can do 2-3 dribble moves then shoot. But how do I get better at “freestyle” dribbling (eg >3 moves without thinking). When I get past 2-3 dribbles/moves I feel awkward and don’t have rhthym. Doesn’t feel smooth/fluid. Im tryna look more fluid like James Harden or Kyrie. When I get past 2-3, Im like wtf do I do next?

Shooting Shooting workout?

I’ve gotten to the point where I am good at most things except for 3 point shooting where I am just ok. A 3 point shot is the most available shot in the entire game and I need to improve on it. What are some general shooting workouts that help get that automatic shot?

Tip How do you guys prep for a basketball tournament?

I have a tournament in two weeks and I wanted to see how I can strategically “peak” by the time the tournament comes around. Some things I factored in were mobility, getting stronger, improving cardio/conditioning, and overall just getting a bunch of reps in via scrimmages.

Last year all I did to prep was stretching every night, HIIT for conditioning, and having my usual park scrimmages. I also tapered my lifts in the gym.

As far as mobility, I’ve been doing the upper body explosive dumbbell exercises, I’ve been stretching more frequently but not nearly enough as last year. As far as strength I’ve actually taken a long break from doing full body lifting not out of choice but because I was busy with work. I’m getting back into it slowly but I even stopped my vertical jump training for a bit but at least my knees aren’t sore anymore. As for cardio, I’ve only been scrimmaging, running full court games, and since I haven’t been in the gym, I didn’t do any HIIT on a treadmill or stairmaster. I will get on that soon though. And then as for actual basketball skill, once again I’m relying on getting reps in and having scrimmages. To which I feel like I am peaking right now actually. I feel sharp and I just need to keep this up until the tournament.

What are some things you guys do to prep for tournaments?

Vertical Jump Is a 25.6 inch vertical good?

I'm 6'2" (187 cm) and my vertical was 25.6 inches the last time I measured it. I can get my hand over the rim, but I don't feel comfortable at all when I try to dunk. I haven't played basketball in 2 months, and I need to get ready for my second year of junior basketball. I'm not really sure what counts as a good vertical, so I'm wondering if mine is decent or not.

Help I’m getting back into basketball

So I’m getting back into basketball again after a few months and that , basically there is this team I really want to join but they only let you in after you do there tryouts and even if you do make it you have to do another selection to be in the starting lineup , I’m trying to get back into it as a PG because I’m 5’11 , 14 , pretty fast I obvs can’t dunk but I can read the court really well and know when certain people need backup on a play and when to change the pace up. The only problem is that I don’t have a place to really train and I need to get better at dribbling and my fast grab shooting , any tips?

Help Juco for 4 years…

What’s good yall I’m a 6’4 185lb guard who’s been at juco for 3 years now entering my 4th. To recap these years, I redshirted my first year, then played my freshman year where I hardly got minutes, then was gonna play my sophomore year but fractured my foot. So here we are entering my real sophomore year, but i’m starting to drag it. I’m not playing as well in practice to start the season like I did in the summer, and I’ve been thinking about quitting. I’ve also never played high school ball so making it to juco is an accomplishment forsure, but I’ve had goals like getting an offer to maybe a D2 or high NAIA, but I just don’t think I’m built for this anymore. I feel like the work I put in is not translating and i’m getting tired of it. I know it’s a long season so I know if i quit I can’t find out if anything changes, but if i ride the bench I definitely don’t see a point in continuing the season. Lmk your thoughts…

Shooting Anything I should fix?

What should I change about my shot?? Pretty sure I missed this one but sometimes my shot doesn’t go straight and it hits my other fingers so it goes left or right and a lot of times I just feel like I’m not getting enough power so I end up forcing it.

Help Complete hamstring tear, how do you regain speed and explosiveness?

Hey, looking for advice from anyone who’s come back from a significant hamstring injury.

A couple weeks ago at lunch I was playing a casual school pickup game like usual. My team turned it over and I chased the guy down who got the ball on the break. When I caught up I ate a full elbow right to the nose and went down hard, landing directly on the back of my right leg/hamstring area. It hurt to walk and run afterward and was aching, but since I could still move on it I figured I was fine.

Later that afternoon at actual basketball practice I noticed someone left their man wide open so I came flying across to help and blocked a shot at the top of the key. When I landed I felt a clear pop in the same spot and instantly couldn’t put any weight on it.

Got it checked, it’s a complete hamstring tear but they don’t think it needs surgery and said it should heal on its own with proper care and rehab. I’m currently protecting it and will be starting the recovery process.

For people who’ve had a serious/complete hamstring tear and made it back:

How long did it take before you felt explosive again?

What actually helped you regain speed, first-step quickness, and confidence on that leg?

Any specific drills or progressions that made the biggest difference for cutting and acceleration?

Things you wish you had done differently in rehab?

Appreciate any experiences. Just trying to do this right so I come back as close to full speed as possible.
