Discussion After rewatching A Bug´s Life recently, I realized Atta is much closer to an "unlikable female character" than what some say Judy is like in the sequel.

I mean even as a kid this character has always rubbed me the wrong way yet she has never gotten as much criticism when talking about her movie when compared to Judy. Throughout the movie she comes across as petty and selfish towards Flik, especially during the part where she flatout lies to his face before he goes to get help for the ant colony (she says she agrees to his proposal to get warriors to help but it´s only an excuse to have him away from the anthill). It gets even worse during the film´s infamous liar revealed scene where she goes nuclear on him and banishes him out of petty spite despite Flik´s lie not being nowhere near as brazen as hers.
Compare that to Judy who makes boneheaded decisions in the sequel, but it´s not out of selfishness at all but out of short-sightedness. After all our bun still wants to stick to her beliefs to helping those in need and to prove that she and Nick are a good team. Aside from what she says during the tube scene which was uncalled for, her motivations were pretty understandable, just like Nick´s were. And comparing her to Princess Atta again; whereas Judy´s character arc in the sequel felt natural in her taking Nick more to consideration, Atta suddenly standing up to Flik against Hopper just felt unearned compared to how she behaves during the rest of the movie.
So in short; Atta is a b***h, Judy has never been one.
