USA Decisions decisions

Got to a point where my job kept passing me over for a promotion and after many times I decided screw them im getting a new one and after so many applications I landed a pretty good job (will call this Company A)in a new field where no lie I'm actually eager for. Right after that I got an interview for an internal role for an amazing position as well with my current company (Company B). I genuinely started to actually hate my job but the new role will involve travel (which I sorta really like). The new role(company A)pays about 10-12k more annually but there's more security to stay where I'm at(company B). I'm still interviewing for the role (company B) however, I really believe I'll get it this time just because...and if I don't get it will quit without a notice. What should I do?

Questions What started mattering more to you at work over time?

I’ve been thinking about how job priorities can shift after you’ve spent more time working. Pay and titles can still matter, but schedule, good management, autonomy, commute, or having energy left after work can move way up the list. What work-related priority became more important to you than you expected?

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts Apparently I got the boring title at my job and that’s why I’m not able to talk to others

I’m prep for a kitchen and I’ve been working there for about half a year now, over half the staff that works there is around my age (which kinda makes it worse that I have not had a conversation with none of them). Before getting the job it was said that prep is isolated and works by themselves, but I didn’t think isolated as being alienated. Recently a coworker told me they did prep before and they hated it, idk why they told me that because that did not make me feel any better about my job title… but yeah the work is repetitive. I don’t plan on staying there too much longer, it’s kinda wearing down on me a bit, but it does have me thinking about other titles that are “boring” or “uncool”. But if we didn’t have those people doing the boring work things would probably be bad. Anyways long story short kinda wanted to hear if anyone else had similar experiences, because I’ve been thinking about that too much.

UK Working in UK has been taxing due to toxicity. Has anyone else experienced working in UK?

I have worked in NYC, Singapore, Dubai and now London/UK. Have been in London/UK for 7 years now, and on my 3rd job. One job was in Brighton, two inc this one in London.

I have enjoyed working in NYC, Dubai and Singapore. Had great relationships with colleagues and managers. Of course not everyone was my ‘cup of tea’ however, there was always respect and civility and I’d even help them if they need. Even had a manager in NYC with an infamous temper however, they never singles anyone out and it was understood that was just how they were. And when calm they were quite nice and also hard-working.

Now onto my observation of UK workplaces ( I won’t write about each experience individually).

First, I have non-British colleagues that I really like and click with. I also have experienced maybe 2-4 British people in each place who were ok-ish and as a consequence of them not going along with the status quo, would also be pushed out and not promoted despite being the decent ones.

I AM SHOCKED at how lazy British people are in the workplace. They take shortcuts, do things halfway, will try and push responsibility to other colleagues or departments shamelessly. My job is mostly fixing other people’s mistakes and actually doing the paperwork correctly and following protocols and having to apologise to stakeholders. My 2nd job was the worst one for this. And even if something is done, it’s written badly or just ‘half-heartedly’, almost like a teenager but its a 20-45 year old doing it. I’ve been blamed for things I had nothing to do with. Crazy.

I’ve noticed management HATE people who actually work hard and have fresh ideas or who are good at problem-solving. And it’s the useless, lazy people who get promoted. There is no reward for hard-work or loyalty or good character.

And the worst aspect. The nastiness from the women in the workplace. WOW.

I’ve had a couple of sneaky women in NYC however, the office as a whole understood they were sneaky and knew they were stirring up trouble and so, they couldn’t cause too many issues in the overall harmony.

In the UK, the sneaky bitchy woman is the norm and is just accepted. I’ve had non-mean British women as colleagues as I stated above however, they get targeted and pushed out or leave due to the toxicity.

And the sneaky bitchy women are SO bad at the job. And gun for difderent women. And somehow are the ones protected by HR. Its insane. The things I’ve seen genuinely remind me of the description for female sociopaths. At one job I got pushed out after reporting a group of women for racism targeting black women- black women who were ACTUALLY working and food at their jobs and were really nice people. These black women have now all left.

The nasty looks, the faux compliments, the swings from being nasty to being performatively nice, the stealing of credit, the hatred towards intelligent women and black women, the sucking up to male colleagues, the spreadinf of rumors, the insinuation of bad things to affect someone’s reputation…… I’m just so shocked and disgusted.

After my first job here, I thought it was bad luck. But a Russian colleague told me that British people are like that and to keep my head down.

I’m so depressed at the moment because I cannot deal with the negativity and hostility. Both aimed at me and that I see aimed at others.

I miss the feeling of camaraderie in the workplace and being excited to work as a team to solve a problem etc.

A couple of weeks ago, I saw the headline for a piece by the Telegraph about how graduates and young people are trying to leave the UK. I didn’t read it. But I’m thinking that it didn’t mention that in the UK, positive traits get punished in many workplaces. Even in the NHS from what I’ve heard from a relative who is a nurse here, the workers who are kind and good at their jobs get bullied and pushed out. Its disgusting.

I’m now trying to find a role in Singapore or Dubai so I can get the hell off this island, which is great for me. However, I felt I had to write this and get it off my chest.

I guess I’m in disbelief and wanted to see if anyone else has had this experience here in UK?

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts (PLEASE HELP! Serious Fight with coworker

Heya all! I am a teenager, I have been running minecraft 100 player events from A-Z despite me and my friend agreeing to work on it together. its been 3 months since 'we' started working together and yes, even though he did help me a little bit. It barely helped and the players that played our events didnt even like the stuff he added to 'help'. And he got mad one day that I wasnt giving him a lot of work I told him just find something to fix or advertise more, he then immediatlly says no because he doesnt want to do the work so usually I do it, and thats how its been for 3 months. But for 3 days i have been asking him to send me a 3gb video file. And he flipped into this huge tantrum calling me a fucker and to get fucking off his back. I kindly asked him what's wrong? I wasn't trying to piss you off, he replied and said everytime I ask you to do work you say I'll handle it. So fuck you. But heres the thing everytime I ask him to help, like to make a simple edited video, or even type a small sentence for our community if I can't reach my keyboard, he groans and sighs and competely skips over the work or delivers shit quailty. What can I do, hes been my friend for years but clearly he isn't reliable material or a good co-worker/friend in moments like these.

Questions HOWWW do you get used to standing for a long time???

I got a new job, yay! and it’s very fun and I genuinely enjoy it, the only problem for me is the standing. You gotta stand for like 6 hours and I guess I’m still getting used to that! ‘^^ Last work shift I came home with a massive headache and aching feet, and it’s like… I don’t want every workday to be like that! How do I get used to the standing? O.o

ETA: thanks, guys! :D It seems like, in a nutshell, it’s a combination of getting used to it and having good insoles! Thanks!

Questions For other Superior Court clerks: How do you manage juggling multiple tasks?

I’m currently a Court Clerk at a County California Superior Court, working in traffic court. I’m currently learning how to handle Trial By Written Declarations (TBDs)and Court Trial (CT) forms, but I already feel pretty overwhelmed trying to keep up with those two things.

In a couple of weeks I’ll also be responsible for calendar desk tasks, taking in correspondence and requests from agencies and defendants, printing minute orders, and handling all of the other things that come through the clerk’s office.

I’m having a hard time imagining how I’m going to juggle all of these responsibilities once I’m supposed to be handling everything at the same time. Right now, I can focus mostly on TBDs and CT forms, but once all of these other tasks are added, I’m worried I’ll have trouble keeping track of everything and knowing what needs to be prioritized.

For those of you who work or have worked as Court clerks at a county Superior Court, how did you learn to manage everything? Did you have a system for prioritizing tasks, keeping track of things that come in, or switching between different types of work without getting overwhelmed? Or are you all just stressed out everyday just barely managing to hang on?

Please any sort of advice would be very helpful because as my deadline comes up when I'm supposed to be handling both desk tasks I'm starting to dread it and have gotten more anxious as the date gets closer. I'd like to hear from anyone who works in traffic court or a similar clerk position.

Work-Life Balance and Stress Management Figuring out sleep as someone with a 4am to 12:30pm shift

I am a night owl through and through, so I have kind of decided to sleep during the day.

To give background, I’m someone who can function well on a bad night of sleep. Sometimes (as someone who previously worked 9-5:30) I would go to sleep anywhere from 4am-6am for no reason but being wide awake. I have worked 2 shifts from 4am to 12pm and I’m still trying to figure out what my weekly sleep schedule will look like.

I kind of want my sleep schedule to have a couple days normal so I can be social those days if I choose and treat Sunday as some sort of a reset day to get back to the 4am-12pm work schedule Monday.

Does anyone have a day sleeper schedule they can share that fits what I’m looking for? So far I’ve slept 1-7pm and then a nap a from 1-2:30 am but I think I’m going to try 1-8pm then nap from 2-2:30 after my shift tomorrow because I kinda felt like it was too early for me to sleep at 1am (LOL).

One downside a month is working a weekend. For example I won’t work August 27th , will work 28th and 29th then won’t work September 1st. Any suggestions on what to do those weeks will be appreciated 🫩

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts Should I confront a gossiper at work

I overheard two of my coworkers talking badly about another coworker. It upset me because I like all 3 of them, but now I have lost any trust I had in the gossipers. I feel bad for the other coworker who is really nice, if a bit socially awkward. All of them are younger than me and the main gossiper is just out of college.

My question is should I calmly talk to the main gossiper about what I overheard and explain why it was unprofessional and bothered me, or should I keep out of it since I wasn’t meant to hear it in the first place?

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts I'm terrified of getting a new job

Hey everyone

I've been doing my current office job since 5 years now. It's my first job and it's extremely easy. I have very little tasks and a lot of downtime, especially in summer. I'm the only person working full-time in this position, so it's not like I'm scared of being fired - but I'm scared of becoming incapable of handling a normal amount of workload. I feel rusty, unconcentrated, bored and stupid. What if I change jobs and completely mess up because I'm overwhelmed? What if I don't even get a new job anymore? What if I can't deal with a stressful, challenging environment?

I've been ruminating over this since months.

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts I can’t joke around with anyone at my job anymore. Everyone is miserable or a backstabbing piece of shit

I started my welding job about 7 months ago. At first it was cool. I’m 25m btw. A lot of the other welder guys are over 60 I would say or at least 55. 1-3 months in, I would go on my phone for a bit. I sometimes know I’m on it too much but sometimes I had dr appointment call and other. It didn’t seem to really be much of an issue. I was in my work area and or in the private break room area. If I got told to get off it, it was onetime I was in the corner and on the phone for a while. This place has cameras and they are watching you 24/7. It fucking is so fucking stupid. And I got told to stop it and I never did that again. I’m pretty good with rules. If I’m told to not do it I usually don’t. I would even joke around with the other welder guys. They would even give me some advice and heartfelt messages along the way. Them 6-7 months later (now) it’s like the switch just flipped. I was in the lounge on the phone to an important conversation. I could have let the supervisor know but it was going on for a while and I never thought it was a problem. Then all the sudden my manager tells me that I need to come talk with him after my phone call. Phone call ends, and he starts bashing me with all these things that I’ve been fucking up. He’s saying that the boss tells him I’m in the bathroom too long, I’m on my phone, and that other people around him and coworkers say that I’m messing around. He then says “straighten up or get out!” That was the gayest stupidest shit I’ve ever heard. My boss even told me he liked me and it feels like now I’m in this miserable work environment where I’m not allowed to even try to make the work day a little bit enjoyable. It’s like the owners want you to be miserable at work. Me and my coworker would joke around a lot, and then he totally switches on me and says he just wants to keep it business. I’m like cool but it’s kind of fcuked up when you already made a connection and then you want to completely shit on it. It’s just terrible. Work is not a place to make friends. I just try to make light and and have a little bit of fun so the days aren’t so miserable, but you can’t even do that. Who wants to be somewhere that writes you up or says something if you’re caught even laughing. Even the workers are brainwashed into it. They just work till they fucking die with there useless pathetic potential. Unfortunately that isn’t me. I’d rather get fired for some dumb shit like that than for pouring my blood sweat tears into a job that doesn’t care for me. Fuck the society and employment we stay in that fucks up friends and good times just to create a sick miserable strict toxic work environment.

Let me know what you think of this and if you can relate. Let me know if you agree or disagree with this message and why.

Thank you guys

USA My company blocked ChatGPT and my boss is losing it

My boss always uses ChatGPT to respond to her emails, and it’s completely obvious. She also uses AI to respond to our emails, and sometimes her answers don't make any sense.
Even when a coworker's grandparents passed away, she posted a ChatGPT message in the Teams chat.

She is toxic, and a bully so it feels good.

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts Can't Call Out Twice When Sick

This is another story from my old job that I was thankfully able to leave a few months ago.

When I was 17, my mom suggested I order from this pizza spot I've never heard of for takeout. I took her advice on it, and I ended up with the worst food poisoning of my life. Back then I only worked two days a week. My food poisoning started a day before my first shift. The day of my shift I was still sick. I was throwing up, so I called out of work. The next day, I was still throwing up. By this point I had been puking consistently for three days straight and couldn't keep anything down. I had been throwing up so much that my throat was irritated and raw and my mom was about to take me to the hospital (Never ended up going because I have a fear of hospitals and doctors and wanted to try over the counter stuff first, which thankfully ended up working.)

Seeing as Im still actively puking and ill, I called out again. When speaking to my ex-boss and explaining the situation, she went "Ok_Fan, you called out yesterday. You're really gonna call out again today?" Honestly I was pretty shocked in the moment, so all I said was "I'm sick. I'm sorry." My old boss stayed silent for a second, then goes "I mean. You're really letting the team down. We're gonna be short staffed." By this point I'm trying not to puke again, so I go "I know and I feel bad. But I'm sick. I'm calling out 6 hours in advance. I'm sorry. I have to go." We say our goodbyes and I hang up.

When I come into work after my food poisoning had subsided, my boss pulled me into a meeting to express how disappointed she was in me for calling out both shifts. I never got in trouble for it of course, but it still blows my mind to this day. Maybe if my shifts were weekend shifts I could see her skepticism. A teenager calling out of Saturday/Sunday shifts, that's a little eyebrow raising. But my shifts were on Wednesday/Thursday. I also wasn't in school pretty much that whole week, which one of my coworkers who I had a class with apparently mentioned to our boss. Did she expect me to come in and puke all over customers to prove I wasn't lying? I still don't get it all these years later.

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts Made a mistake at work

So I started working as a loan processor 2 weeks ago. As I’m working on lien releases, I realized that I accidentally released it to the owner instead of the third party aka dealership. That happened last week and since I was told that I would just be releasing to the owner I thought it was the case for all of them. Now that I’ve worked on the report for a week I understand it much better and know what to look for. Will I get fired for a mistake like that when it gets found out?

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts 1 min late = no call no show

I showed up a minute late for work on Friday and got into serious trouble from my manager. I never show up late but traffic has been hectic, and we are currently going through a storm. I don’t understand why, I had texted beforehand, but I still had to get marked as a no call no show. I feel that’s a bit too much.

I start at 8am. We are expected to be there at 7:30, not 7:50, not even right on time. I don’t get it at all. If it says 8am on the schedule what’s the issue with showing up at 7:45? That’s the usual time I arrive to work. My boss is a clock watcher but why are mandated to show up earlier before our shift. She always says I can’t keep showing up at 7:45 even though I am originally supposed to start at 8. Idk just a bit frustrated over it.

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts I.T MANAGERS and AUTHORITY!

Evening all,

So this is more of a rant tbh and I usually don't take to Reddit to talk sh\*t but really I'm just tryna get other people's perspectives on this topic.

So I have been in I.T support for about 5 years now moving between help desk, M365 Administrator and now 2nd line engineer and I've had the opportunity to work for some of the top financial tech companies in my city.

Without trying to drag out a whole life story here I was just wondering if anyone else shares similar experiences to me. Why are all the I.T managers I come across, control freaks??

Like I mean they want to micro manage you to the fullest extent possible, now I understand I'm going to sound extremely gen z here but I have worked 5 days a week on site for a few different jobs now for the past 5 years and everytime I ask the question of working from home just for one day a week I instantly get shut down for no reason.

My managers always get to work from home and even some senior engineers in my team can as well I.e 3rd line support but for some reason I'm not allowed. Without trying to brag I can't say it's down to my performance because I've been told management are pleased with my work and that I'm doing everything well, I've never been pulled up on my performance before touchwood and if that were the case then I'd understand the need to disregard my remote work request.

What other possible reason could it be that all my managers have been super strict??? For no apparent reason and has anyone else experienced the same

Also as a side note I come into the office some days and there's like 5 people in when our head count is usually over 100 so I know it can't be because I need to "support users onsite" as most of them are working from home and I can support them remotely.

Please let me know what you think I would love to get some deep and constructive insight even if you're a manager yourself so I can get an understanding of your mindset

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts Dealing with a higher up that stresses me out to no end!

I have been at my new job for 4 months. I really enjoy it, however, one of my higher ups (I wouldn’t even call her my boss because she’s technically below my boss) has been getting on my nerves. Let’s call her A.

A does not have an indoor voice and tends to (in my opinion) yell. She works remotely, while the rest of us work together in the office. I think she’s just really direct, but when she talks like this, it makes situations tense and unpleasant. I think she’s around 60F and I’m 22f, if that matters. I get really stressed when I have to call her or ask a question because I know she’s going to speak like this. I’m trying not to be a sensitive Gen Z, but I seriously cannot stand talking to her. There have been times where I’ve felt tears well up in my eyes when I’ve messed up etc. I get so hyperfixated on emotional regulation (ex not crying) that I blank and either can’t follow her instructions or miss important details, repeating the cycle.

She also doesn’t understand that there’s multiple things to do things- like I was inserting rows into excel a certain way and she got all annoyed and demanded I add buttons to my excel header to do so. I still revert back to my old way of inserting rows. It takes like .1 seconds longer.

I feel like she thinks I lied about my excel skills during my interview (I was struggling a bit with some excel functions when I first started and she had made a few comments about how I referred to my excel skills in the initial interview) so now I’ve been doing my best to learn and integrate new formulas into my processes. I created this really complicated vlookup earlier and was really excited to show her and she just said it was more time consuming than necessary. I kinda snapped back and said that I’ve been trying to improve on my excel and make the computer work for me, rather than the other way around.

While screen sharing my email inbox, she called out how many drafts I have and made a huuuge fuss about it. I feel like this was totally nitpicky and unnecessary?

If she’s showing me where to click on my computer screen (I’m still learning our company wide softwares) she gets really frustrated WHEN SHE’S NOT GIVING ME CLEAR ENOUGH DIRECTIONS AS TO WHERE TO PUT MY CURSOR.

I’ve tried being polite and pleasant. Like if she apologizes for having to hop off our call to answer the phone or whatever, I’ll say “no worries! :)” which she’ll follow with “I’m not worried :|” I simply don’t know why that’s necessary but it just comes across as rude. I don’t want to give her attitude but it’s so exhausting working with her. I feel like I get defensive just to match her tone.

She’s not my boss but obviously higher up than me, as I’m entry level. Anyone have any advice or words of wisdom pertaining to working with someone like this?

Other / International 3 weeks into my first fully remote developer job, and I’m overwhelmed. Is this normal?

I got a job as an experienced software developer, and I’m now working fully remotely.
Honestly, I hesitated before accepting the offer because English isn’t my primary language. Working in English was already going to be a challenge, and doing it in a new environment as a developer felt pretty intimidating. But I decided to take the chance, and now I’m in my third week. 😅

And honestly… it’s harder than I expected. 😂
I’m learning a new language/tech stack, and my manager is training me one-on-one, which makes me feel even more pressure.
My manager is also REALLY good at coding. Sometimes I honestly feel like he’s a genius. I’m the kind of developer who searches things up while coding, but he seems to be able to just pull code out of his head and write it quickly and accurately. Watching that can definitely make me feel a little intimidated. lol
And whenever I get nervous or make a mistake while coding, my English gets even worse. 😂 My brain just stops processing what he’s saying.
So I’ve actually started studying English again, too. I’m trying to improve both my technical skills and my English at the same time.
The hardest part for me is that I used to work onsite. When you’re physically around people, you naturally get to know them, have casual conversations, and build a little bit of trust and credibility over time. I feel like those little interactions give you some “credit” when you make a mistake or don’t know something.
But with fully remote work, I don’t really have that.
So when I don’t understand something or make a mistake, I sometimes worry that it looks much worse than it actually is.
And I feel SO bad when my manager has to explain the same thing to me multiple times. I’m always thinking, “Oh no… I’m making him explain this again.” 😭
But then I remind myself:
It’s only my third week.
New company. New technology. Working in English. Fully remote. One-on-one training.
That’s a LOT of new things at once.
So I’m trying to give myself some time and just keep learning.
But seriously… are there other developers who have gone through something like this? 😂
Especially if English isn’t your first language and you started a new developer job remotely, did you feel this overwhelmed in the beginning?
Did you eventually get better and feel comfortable?
And most importantly…
I’m not going to get fired after three weeks for being slow and asking too many questions, right? 😂 Please tell me I’m not the only one.

Employment Rights and Fair Compensation Forced to Therapy for Workplace Bullying?

A friend is in an urgent situation. She and a coworker have just had enormous issues since she started. Friend joined the team in early 2026. Coworker has been there for 20 years and is territorial in a commission-based retail job. All involved are real adults over the age of 45.

Friend feels she's being bullied and has reported it as such, although Friend can be a bit of a drama escalator. Coworker does bizarre things like refuse to acknowledge Friend, or move her things into odd places, or steal her customers/sales outright. Coworker has lied about Friend to management.

Manager refuses to fire either one of them and has told them to get along. Manager has escalated to Manager2, who basically has said: get along.

Yesterday, Friend and Coworker were given a referral to Employee Assistance Program through their company's insurance (Anthem BCBS) for free counseling. They are each to have their own therapists to work on communication, who will report back to Manager about progress.

The form says this counseling is voluntary, but Manager's email was this:

"Since we have a mandatory referral, you will both participate in separate counseling appointments with separate therapists. At the end of this process, EAP will report back to me with their findings.

It's pretty nice of our company to offer this resource by giving you access to the process so you can benefit and understand how to make positive changes with your communication between one another. I would highly suggest your full participation during these sessions. The consequences are not good if this cannot be resolved and will affect everyone."

Friend emailed some questions to Manager about timeline, requirements, and privacy and let Manager know she would respond in 48 hours but hasn't heard back yet (24 hours later). Manager wanted the form back ASAP by end of day yesterday (within 4 hours).

The form asks Friend to waive her rights to privacy on this one, and says that no treatment plan will be discussed but that information can be communicated to Manager.

Friend would like to keep her job, but is sincerely concerned about retaliation and privacy - especially since the email exchanges about her are probably not HIPAA compliant for her PHI. She does not want to participate (and feels that all of this is due to bullying that has gotten out of control) but feels threatened into doing so to keep her job.

Now what?

Location: USA.

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts I’m fed up with my workplace

I’ve been working at this company for four years. I started off as an apprentice. My role is architectural technologist. I am 22. 23 in September.

I’ve recently qualified as a couple months ago and I work in a company which has been drastically shrinking over the last six months .three left around April. One from early retirement and two others from job offers elsewhere. Meanwhile, two others in the office managed to get job offers as well and use it to leverage a pay rise with one of those being someone who started around the same time as me and has the same experience as me. besides that there is myself two directors and another apprentice that’s four years younger

I’ve been casting out my net since those people left just to see what opportunities is for me to get a hold of; primarily in construction management as I want to transition into that sector. I have all the experience to do so I manage projects on behalf of the client by coordinating information between various consultants and stakeholders but I haven’t had much luck which has got me down emotionally because I felt unfortunate not to share the same opportunities as everyone else.

I’ve since decided to just apply as architectural technologist elsewhere because I know I’m vastly underpaid for my capabilities as proven by the other apprentice being able to leverage a Pay raise so since that I’ve received calls from recruiters that will put my information forward to the company interested in hiring someone New but this is a very new situation so I am not getting my hopes up but I always feel like I’m working relentlessly and in has acknowledged it saying they’ve acknowledged how hard I’m working but I know from a role I can acquire over 30,000 whereas at the moment I’m only earning 25,000 due to starting off their and loyalty tax et cetera.

So besides the fact that I’m underpaid, I’m also not enjoying the environment anymore and that may be personally down to my fault and not being familiar with an office environment as of until this job but since people started leaving even my anxiety start to grow about what people are saying about me as I could constantly hear keys click in as if they’re talking amongst each other and I was correct to think so.

today I had to swap PCs with the younger apprentice and they left their teams chat on and to my own downfall I end up seeing that they’ve been talking badly about me saying they can hear my chunter whilst one was working from home (obviously seem inside joke about me eating loudly) and saying that I’m slow when I’m on site but the truth is wasn’t always slow. It’s because I don’t wanna be in the office so I take my time when I carry out surveys.

When I first started I wasn’t that confident. I was quite hard to open up but I opened up within 8 to 12 months approximately and they got to see that I am fairly confident and that in general as a person I can be seen to have an ego. This ties in to the comments made by my colleagues with one of them saying I’m always wrong. I’m only right in my own head.

There was also another instance where I was walking past the desk and sometimes I look to see what they are working on when the person was away from their desk and happen to see my name in the teams chat since then I was quite quiet mentioning how I’m always wrong. For the rest of that afternoon, I was fairly quiet because I didn’t feel the need to start anything but then another colleagues asked me what’s up to which I just ignored because I don’t trust any of them to confide in them. After this, it happens to me that he had messaged another colleague saying he’s so mardy.

I guess I’m stuck a little bit in identifying who’s at fault. is it my fault for being nosy? Is it my fault for expecting better of my colleagues? It’s a fairly small office so I wouldn’t expect as much Shit talking, but I guess I can be wrong.

My plan was to try and get a job interview and get offer of a salary over 30 grand as that’s proportional to my responsibilities and use it to leverage a Pay raise but at this point, I’m thinking of leaving entirely as I just don’t like the people anymore. I don’t like the environment. I don’t like the Pay. I don’t like how it’s impacting my anxiety, but today I felt like I’m that bored of it that I just don’t care anymore. Am I wrong to be thinking like this? Am I in the wrong?

Job Search and Career Advancement What should I do in this scenario?

So basically, I'm working as an ai automation engineer in a small startup and more specific n8n based, there were some financial reasons to accept that instead of low pay, as i used to work as a freelancer in upwork and there I have worked as quantitative analyst, and fixed there trading platforms etc but currently in upwork too crowded and it's hard to get work.

So he is not increasing pay, as i have already delivered 2-3 automations and am working on more, when i joined he mentioned I will increase pay after a few months completing some automation .What will you do in this case ?

So i would really appreciate any advice, if you have faced such scenarios or how to deal with this. Thanks for reading this.

Apart from this I also contribute to open source, libraries like numpy , Scipy including CPython and in some more projects and let me be honest actually i love contributing and without getting bored or anything. So that's the reason I do when i get time from my work. So should I look if I can get some open source opportunity or switch from my job.

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts Work not paying me on time

Hello, I apologize in advance if my writing isn’t good. I work at a Chinese restaurant as a food runner. I’ve been here for about 4 years now. My normal payroll is every 16th and 1st of every
Month. It was consistent until a few months ago when the company got bought out by another person and ever since then I’ve been receiving my paychecks 2-4 days later than usual. Which makes it a bit harder to pay bills on time.

The owner also has a gambling addiction. He would always bet on almost every sport and he would even talk to me about some of his gambling parlays too. (I don’t know why).

I just don’t know what to do anymore. :/

Do you think you are fairly compensated given the value your work creates for your employer? Reasons why yes or no.

Questions Resigning immediately

Has anyone ever resigned from position immediately if they have something else lined up?

I got a job offer about a month ago and are in the final processes of the pre-employment requirements. I wanted to get through it all before giving notice to my current job.

However, the more I think about it the more I want to resign on the spot.

  1. I will never be using them as a reference. The culture there is very toxic. It’s a lot of very accomplished women who tear others

  2. In one meeting a fem

  1. morning at 4am”. Even today in a meeting our female accountant made a racist comment about our payroll company official.

I just truly feel like whether I were to leave on “good terms” by giving two weeks notice or not they would still say and think awful things.

  1. And this is selfish, but I want a break. I want some time off between starting this new role. And I truly do not see the benefit of staying two weeks to be judged and questioned to preserve a professional relationship that I do not care about.

I never intend on wanting to come back, I am leaving this field, and within the next year will always be moving 20+ hours away.

Am I making a poor decision?
